Our students are invited to take an approach of curiosity to the workplace asking: What if work could be different? What if all people had the same opportunities for upward mobility at work? Students, like faculty, are active in both research and practice. They develop and apply evidence-based solutions for work that equip all people to flourish.

Create Sustainable Change

We are invested in developing thoughtful and passionate individuals who will serve in organizations that bring about lasting effects in the world around them. We are interested in asking questions, challenging assumptions and investing our lives in meaningful, measurable and sustainable change.

Develop as a Consultant

The program is crafted around SIOP guidelines to develop ready professionals. Using a hybrid of statistics, business and psychology, we are helping organizations empirically move the dial on human performance.

As a faculty, we strive to exemplify the cooperative, relational aspect of our field as behavioral scientists in order to best model successful integration and cross-disciplinary partnership. Our vision is to graduate students of strong, mature faith who are academically and professionally prepared for real-world application of their skills. One of the greatest advantages of training

at the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is undoubtedly the holistic method with which we approach learning and application.

While theoretical frameworks are explored alongside historical perspectives of each discipline, it is the direct application of knowledge that sets us apart from other programs. The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences offers students many opportunities to put their skills into practice in a setting that provides individual attention and faculty guidance.

Faculty Spotlight

Originally from South Dakota, my journey to industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology has been a whirlwind—from traumatic experiences to God’s enduring grace and provision. For me, a pivotal point happened when I was overseas teaching English in Mongolia, where I observed a severe winter which resulted in thousands of deaths and extreme loss.

The magnitude of the loss I saw shook my faith in a way that left me with many more questions than answers. I realized then that I could either choose to forget this experience or dedicate my life to finding answers and helping people to succeed in the world of work, even in the most difficult circumstances. In discovering I-O, I found an entire field dedicated to helping people succeed in the workplace.

That is where my work has currently taken me. After spending time applying myself to the science of people at work in the public and private sector, working with both the City of Seattle and a consulting firm recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the best places to work, I took those experiences in faith, public and corporate settings to design a Master of Science in I-O Psychology at CBU. Our program is justice oriented in that it trains people to take an active role in restoring creation to its greatest potential. One of my core beliefs is that people have incredible, undiscovered potential.
