PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE A Look at the 2020 Housing Market If you’re looking for positive news about the California housing market, you don’t have to look far. Interest rates remain below 4%, unemployment is at record lows and wages are rising. With more purchasing power, buyers will have plenty of reasons to get off the sidelines and start their home search in 2020. For those who might still be waiting for a better market, this is it. And while it’s true California’s home prices have risen slightly more than the national average in the past five years, if you’re thinking about moving and buying a home in a neighboring state, consider this: Home prices have jumped significantly more during the past year or so in Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Washington state than in California, according to the CoreLogic Home Price Index. And here’s some more good news: Housing inventory was slightly above average in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties in October for the first time that month since 2012, according to ReportsOnHousing. And also throw in the fact that the number of listings on the market with reduced prices has risen about 30% in Los Angeles and Orange counties and San Diego this year, according to Zillow. If both trends continue, buyers will
