Higher rates have caused renters to evaluate the costs associated with homeownership and compare them to the amount they’re currently spending each month. While family and friends gather during the winter season holidays, they may have discussions about potential lifestyle changes – such as moving from a rental to a multifamily home. Now is the time to position your property to appeal to all groups rethinking where and how they live.
The current conditions won’t last forever in this dynamic real estate market. List your home in the winter season and reap the benefits of the seller advantage while it lasts.
While the rise in interest rates may make you wary, economists forecast home prices and mortgage rates will stabilize and continue the seller’s market through the end of the year. There is still high demand and low inventory, which may mean your home is worth more than what you put into it. And, there are even fewer properties on the market during the winter season, as inventory has diminished from summer sales and current sellers are reevaluating, taking their residences off the market for at least the winter. Listing your home now will make it stand out and give you a head start on the predicted increase in inventory in January. George Hart is credited with being the town’s fi rst developer. He purchased much of the area from James Irvine II, who noted that a fourth of it was “nothing but marshland.” Still, Hart saw the possibilities for summer vacation cottages and in 1904, ads proclaimed that 30-foot-wide lots could be had for $100 and up. Although access was limited (Pacifi c Coast Highway didn’t open until 1926), visitors came for the summer and stayed. Though no one seems quite certain how it came about — there are many theories — Corona del Mar’s streets got their fl ower names sometime between 1915 and 1929. Internationally known surfers drew attention to the area when they came to compete in championships. In 1925, surfing great Duke Kahanamoku, a member of the Corona del Mar Surfboard Club, famously used his surfboard to make a rescue when a chartered fi shing vessel capsized in heavy surf. Although the extension of the jetty changed the outlook for surfers, the beaches continue to attract visitors and locals alike.
Corona del Mar's village offers a chic selection of boutiques, restaurants, entertainment spots and other establishments within easy walking distance of the beach, while Inspiration Point and Lookout Point are daily attractions for sunset lovers. Today an affl uent and sophisticated community, this seaside village located at the foot of the San Joaquin Hills is one of Southern California’s seaside gems.

Offi cially incorporated in 1888, the city became part of the newly formed Riverside County in 1893. Over the centuries, the city’s identity experienced an interesting evolution.
The freshwater lake adjacent to the present-day city was originally dubbed by Spanish explorers as Laguna Grande, meaning “big lagoon.” Early settlers were drawn to the area by the presence of natural springs thought to hold restorative powers, as well as by the promise of fertile land and rich resources. These assets proved to be enough to persuade them to stay and establish the area as their home – a town they called Elsinore, after the Danish city Shakespeare made famous in Hamlet As with many scenic regions along the coast and in the mountains near Los Angeles after the turn of the century, Elsinore became a popular weekend retreat for glamorous Hollywood residents during the 1920s and '30s. The picturesque natural lake was ideal for water sports of all kinds, including skiing, swimming, boating and fi shing. In the '50s, however, a severe drought caused the lake to dry up; so, too, did the steady stream of traffi c to Elsinore. An improved canal system and eventually a dam remedied the issue, preventing such a situation from recurring.
In 1972, Elsinore underwent one further transformation. Intended to highlight the aspect of the town that essentially provided its personality, and to promote that feature as an attractive tourist destination, citizens came together and approved its offi cial name: City of Lake Elsinore. More recently, a new logo and slogan – "Dream Extreme" – was adopted as well. It is meant to refl ect the city’s current progressive attitude of looking ahead to the future.
On the northeastern shore of a beautiful body of water at the base of the Elsinore Mountains lies the City of Lake Elsinore, population 65,817 (2019).
