Financial Aid Community College of Aurora works hard to ensure that college is affordable to all students. To accomplish this, CCA students can qualify for all standard types of state and federal financial assistance. From Pell Grants to work study awards to student loans, CCA students can qualify for enough financial aid support to pay for their educations. Last year, CCA awarded more than $23 million in state and federal financial aid to enrolled students. To qualify for state and federal financial aid, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or can be completed in the FAFSA computer lab at the CentreTech Campus.
Scholarships In addition to standard types of financial aid, the Community College of Aurora and the Community College of Aurora Foundation offer hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants and scholarships every year. For more information on scholarships and grants, check www.ccaurora.edu/scholarships. If you would like to learn more about financial aid opportunities at the Community College of Aurora, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at (303) 360-4709.
Guaranteed Transfer Many students at the Community College of Aurora plan to transfer to other institutions to complete their academic programs. To assist students in this process, Colorado has developed a statewide guaranteed transfer program called “gtPATHWAYS.” This program ensures that certain courses at the college are guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Colorado. In addition, Colorado law ensures that students, as long as they maintain a “C” or better in all their classes, who earn an associate of arts or an associate of science from a Colorado community college, such as the Community College of Aurora, are granted junior standing upon transfer to a public four-year college or university in Colorado. Talk to your counselor about these programs or call the CCA Office of College Outreach and Recruitment at (303) 340-7522.
High School Students
High school students can take CCA classes to earn college credit and credit toward high school graduation at the same time. CCA has agreements with Aurora Public Schools, Adams 14 School District, Cherry Creek School District, Denver Public Schools, and Jefferson County Schools to provide collegelevel courses to selected high school students free of charge. You can save a lot of money on classes that go toward CCA degrees and certificates or transfer to other two-year colleges and to four-year universities.
A Glimpse of CCA Our students come from all over the world to live and learn in an environment that prepares them for future success. We use the latest technologies to help you actively participate in your learning. • Attend CCA’s Colorado Film School, and you will make movies. • Train at CCA to become an EMT or paramedic, and you will learn to save lives in simulated real-life environments–in a house, on a Hollywood–style street, or in a simulated restaurant working on high-tech mannequins that will even tell you where it hurts. • Our police academy instructors come directly from agencies across the region to train you to meet the challenges of the street. • Earn a degree in science and train in a real biotechnology laboratory preparing you for research in DNA analysis. You can be part of scientific research; you can prepare for a future in medicine; you can study the stars in our astronomy observatory.
Whether you are studying English or math, photography or law enforcement, computers or paralegal, CCA is committed to making your journey fun and rewarding. The bottom line? Your success!
