The Holy Communion

Offerings of alms and bread and wine are received.

At the Offertory

Anthem Dmitry Bortniansky (1751–1825)

Let God arise, and let his enemies be scattered and let them flee. Let those who hate him all flee from before his face! As the smoke vanishes, let them vanish. As the wax melts before the fire, let the sinners perish before the face of God! God is wondrous in his holy place, God of Israel!

— para. Psalm 68:1–4; 35, 36

Agnus Dei S 158 Healey Willan

The sacrament of Holy Communion has been precious to Christians for 2,000 years. It is a way in which many sense the reality of God’s forgiveness, our union with God and each other, and the eternal life to which we belong. Please know that you do not have to be an Episcopalian to receive Communion. To receive, you may kneel or stand at the altar rail. Receive the Bread in the palm of your hand and the Wine either by drinking from the cup or by intinction, touching the Bread to the Wine. Gluten-free Bread is available; simply ask at the altar rail. If you need Communion brought to you in the pew, please tell an usher.

At the Administration

Anthem Alexis Feodorovich Lvov (1798–1870)

To thy heavenly banquet, O Son of God, admit me this day. O may I never betray thee, nor like Judas greet thee with a kiss, but with the thief let me cry: Lord, remember me in thy kingdom. Alliluiya.
