ABOUT WELDING TECHNOLOGY

This high-energy diploma or Associate of Occupational Science (AOS) degree program will prepare you for an entry level position in the welding and metal fabricating industry. Students receive instruction in pipe, oxy-fuel welding, brazing and cutting, shielded metal arc (stick), gas metal arc (MIG), and gas tungsten arc (TIG) welding of sheet metal, plate, and structural shapes.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The diploma program takes 35 weeks to complete. The degree program is 72 weeks (or 80 weeks if taking afternoon classes.) Welding classes meet from 7:00am to 12:00pm M-F (day) or from 12:30pm to 5:30pm M-F (afternoon). A high school diploma or GED and admissions essay is required for application.

JOB OUTLOOK

According to the US Department of Labor, employment of welders is expected to grow 15% by 2020. Properly skilled welders with up-to-date training should have the best job prospects.”
