What’s in the Box? What You Need: Gift box (or bag) and items that represent things God made Examples of items to put in the box: plush animals (God made animals), a piece of fruit (God made food), a water bottle (God made water), a flashlight (God made light), etc. What You Do: Fill the gift box with the items. Invite your child to play a game with you. Say, “In the Bible story today, we heard how God made all the good things in our world. All of those good things are a gift from God. Some of those good things are in this bag. I want you to pull out one good thing.” Open the bag and allow your child to remove one item. Have them name the item. Then say, “God made the [item’s name] because God is good! Who is good? God is good!” Repeat the activity until all the items are removed from the bag.
Bible Story Every Good and Perfect Gift (James 1:17; Genesis 1)
When you are finished say, “The world is like a big present filled with all kinds of good things God made because God is good. We can thank God for all the good things God made because God is good! Who is good? God is good!”
Remember This “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.” Psalm 107:1, NIV
Say This Who is good? God is good.
Prayer “Dear God, you are awesome! Thank you for flowers and frogs and people and this whole big, beautiful world you made! You are so, so good! Thanks for loving us, God. We love you. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.”
