This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church or access the app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.

• During the exodus, God revealed Himself to His people as a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night. • God used the pillar to lead the Israelites. When the pillar moved, the people moved with it. • By giving the Israelites this visual sign of His presence, God also showed them His power, favor, and protection.

Though your child can distinguish between right and wrong, she still needs reminders to make the right choices. Remember that God has placed you in your child’s life much like the “pillar of cloud” to help guide and direct your little one as she learns to follow Him.

Teachable Moments After reading the passage, discuss the following together:

Remember Verse for the environment of

OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE Remember Verse

I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

• How do you think the Israelites felt when they always saw the pillar? • How would you feel if God led you with a pillar like He led the Israelites? • How can you know that God is with you, even though you can‘t see Him?

Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
