WelcomeTo 2021
Chapter President
The 2020-2021 Programming year was one for the history books. The world, our country, our chapter, and each of us personally faced challenges we will not soon forget. We experienced a pandemic, racial unrest after the murder of George Floyd, and a historic election season during the programming year We navigated the emotions of each circumstance collectively with our Jack and Jill family
As I reflect on what this year has been for the Jack and Jill Palm Beach Chapter, the words sisterhood, family support, community presence, impactful and creative programming all come to mind
Despite our physical distance, the moms of the Palm Beach Chapter worked together to provide a great experience for our moms, our children and those in the community that rely on us We kicked off the year with a phenomenal mothers’ book club event where the author of the book, a fellow Jack and Jill mom, joined in on the discussion We held our first ever Pink and Blue Table Talk and Sister Mom month Additionally, the Adult Programming and Health & Wellness committees organized a concealed weapons training, mediation moments, monthly health challenges, couples’ game and couples’ cooking nights. Our programming committee worked tirelessly to ensure that each activity was a “if not for Jack and Jill” experience. A few programming highlights include our participation in the From Protest to Power and Purpose community march. We hosted a Tween and Teen Town Hall on Juneteenth where the children were free to express their emotions and receive support and guidance on navigating that moment of racial unrest in our country The younger children participated in activities centered around the power of your vote, creating black wealth and outdoor/ecosystem experiences Program directors, Lashonda Overstreet and Katrina Williams submitted a beautiful, Superior-rated handbook, that showcased each of our amazing activities
This year the Southeastern Region opened the Stock Market Challenge to children in all grade groups The Palm Beach Chapter had four teams (one from the Windmill Palms, one from the Majestic Palms and two from the Royal Palms) participate in the challenge. As of this writing, the Majestic Moguls (our Majestic Palms’ team) has been in first place in the region for over a month! Special thanks to all of the stock market coaches and the children that participated.
We provided continued support to our community partners in a safe way We provided monetary donations to the Children’s Home Society, The Boys and Girls Club of Belle Glade and the March of Dimes We prepared and provided food and personal hygiene bags to those in need in collaboration with St George’s Episcopal church in Riviera Beach The teens sold “Vote” paraphernalia to support their Jack and Jill Foundation donation And just in April, we had a chapter wide book drive to provide new or gently used books to the Max Fisher Boys and Girls club where roughly 500 books were donated
Our editorial team was on fire this year! Mom Kim Dawkins took the initiative to reintroduce our Palm Beach Chapter Newsletter, The Lady Palm. The committee did a fabulous job keeping us in the know about all things Jack and Jill. Thanks to moms Danisha and Hollani for creating and maintaining our public Instagram and Facebook pages. We now have a social media presence where we can share the great things we are doing.
The membership committee worked hard to help us welcome nine new moms and families to our chapter this year! Although we did not have the luxury of completing the intake process in person, by all accounts it was a success The energy of the “Divine Nine” radiated at each and every virtual encounter We are thrilled to have moms Sia Baker Barnes, J’Nelle Delica, Rhonda Norwood Dobson, Chanelle Harper, Sandra Powery Moses, Whitney Powell, Cassandra Oliver, Melanie Roger, and Destinie Baker Sutton join our Jack and Jill Palm Beach family!
The Palm Beach Chapter of Jack and Jill had a phenomenal year!! Life gave us lemons and we made lemonade (and lots of it). As we celebrate our six graduates (Paige Braggs, Kailyn Bryant, Danielle Kiminyo, Trey Thomas, Jonathan Williams, and Zachary Williams) and our beautiful black families, we are blessed to be able to do so in person (safely). The contributions and talents of each of us make our chapter great Thank you to each of you for your engagement; our future is bright! May God continue bless each member of our beloved Jack and Jill Palm Beach Chapter
Sincerely
CP Lakiesha 2020-2022 Palm Beach Chapter President Jack and Jill of America, IncWith the dedication of our lovely and talented Mothers, we have made it through a year of the COVID-19 pandemic Our last meetingwas3/10/20andonthatdaywevotedinanewleadershipboardandplannedtowelcomesevennewmothers All inperson activities stopped the following day and our mothers worked hard to finish out the programming year and resume or normal activities by fall Right? That was the plan!!! We were naive and hopeful that the world would open and we would see eachothersoon.
WearesofortunatetoliveinSouthFloridawhereourMotherswereabletoofferin-personsociallydistancedoutdooractivities with virtual access to many programs As vaccines were made more readily available, we have cautiously gathered more often. The region has introduced a new initiative to ensure all needs of our children are considered during our programming. Our programming with virtual planning of events. Google forms and documents have been valuable and we plan to continue to leverage technology to ensure that programming for our children meets and exceeds all expectations The year started off with a “Pajamas and Pancakes” where our very own Father Duane and CP Lakiesha hosted a first-class pancake cooking experience Our e-board worked through overtime to ensure that each child was outfitted in matching pajamas There were so many amazing and thoughtful programming events scheduled throughout the year and there was always the hope that we would be in person as a group. Mom Charlotte, our technology chair beautifully and masterfully ensured that zooms were seamless, andartisticallypresentedandweareforevergrateful
We would like to thank Chapter President Lakiesha and Chapter Vice President Jennifer for supporting our programming efforts. As previous Program Directors, they understood the effort and dedication it takes in the program director position. As we welcome nine new families to our Palm Beach Family and continue to nurture the seven new families welcomed in 2020, we commit to embracing all 80 of our children, Moms, and Dads We both commit to loving on all of the children, we commit to supporting you in your commitment to creating amazing programming. Everything we do requires a significant investment of time, talent, and treasures We invite you to celebrate our recognition as a 2020-2021 Chapter with a “SUPERIOR” rated handbook We encourage you to labor over the programming planning knowing full well that every activity createsamemoryforourfamilies
Congratulations to our 2021 Graduates. As you go into the world, know that your Jack and Jill Family is always with you. Go beGREAT!

Her service and commitment will be greatly missed in the Palm Beach Chapter.
The Word About Kianta...
A smile that will light up a room.
Thank You, Mom!
Thank you to my mother, Kianta Prince-Bryant, for instilling in me the knowledge that I need for me to succeed in the world. I would not be the person I am without your love and support. You have been my North Star in life, always guiding me into the right direction. From blasting Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson after a blistering hot day at the beach to quoting lines from the movie Dirty Dancing, I will always have precious memories. Thank you from the bottom of my heart because I know I don’t say it enough.
"I would not be the person I am without your love and support."

Our families honored the memory of our own Associate Jewel, Michelle Maynor Hendricks, who passed away in December 2020 by walking in her honor. Michelle was a warrior and had won her battle with cancer. She invited her friends and family to walk with her each year and to live by her "pray, fight, win" motto. She will always be remembered.
