M&A in China’s pesticide industry is underway Bright prospective of China’s fluoric pesticide intermediate industry conflicts
Workshop
Day one – Friday 18th, March 2011 Workshop 1 9:00-12:30 M&A in China’s pesticide industry is underway - Background introduction (current domestic pesticide industry policies and major impacts, economic environment, companies’ response and attitude, etc.) - Latest dynamics of pesticide industry’s mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in China - Advantages and disadvantages analysis of current domestic M&A (existing difficulties and problems; benefits from the M&A) - Discussion on potential influences on MNCs, commercial opportunities of the M&A - Future M&A trends in China pesticide industry - Who would be the final winner of the M&A With several decades’ fast development, China’s pesticide industry is now entering the adjustment period. Many companies are now positively pursuing cooperation opportunities with other companies, in a bid to enhance their competitiveness. After the “Pesticide Industry Industrial Policy” released in August 2010 by Chinese government, voice of M&A in the industry becomes much higher. Currently, cases for M&A of pesticide players are commonly seen, for instance, Zhejiang Wynca Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. pays USD12 million to acquire 75% of Ningxia Tianxi Science and Technology Co., Ltd. in September 2010. In China, M&A of pesticide industry mainly covers three ways: 1) M&A of whole production chain of upstream and downstream; 2) M&A between similar types of corporations; 3) M&A between manufacturer and distributer. However, there are also considerable concerns about M&A, which involves companies’ cooperation compatibility, resource combination, etc. With continuous advance of China M&A, competitiveness of China’s pesticide manufacturers will surely be boosted in the coming future, to some extent imposing pressure on MNCs’ business in China market at the same time. What would be the concrete influences on MNCs? Can we found some commercial opportunities from it? Who will survive the reshuffle? CCM International sincerely invites you to join our workshop to discuss and share ideas with experts from both domestic and overseas leading enterprises.
Workshop 2 9:00-12:30
China Crop Protection Summit

15:55-16:30 Flourishing industry of environmentally friendly formulations
China has abundant fluorite resources (CaF2), with total reserve volume of over 260million tonnes, accounting for two thirds of the world. Nowadays, with advantages of high efficacy, low toxicity, etc., fluorine-containing pesticides have becoming a R&D hot spot in the world with its AI amount sees continuous growth, taking up over 12% of total pesticide varieties currently.
16:30-17:05 Waste treatment technology on pesticide technical production in China
Today, domestic producers focus more on deep processing of fluorine chemicals with higher added value. Current price of 2,4-difluoronitrobenzene, an intermediate of fluoric pesticides, for instance, is about USD12,000/t, much higher than that of its raw material, namely fluorite (CaF2 >90%), which is USD120/t . However, it seems like that China still has great potential for fluoric pesticide industry, as fluorine-containing pesticides that China now produces merely captures less than 8% of total domestic products, which is mostly attributed to limited development for related intermediate industry due to insufficient technologies. What’s the most potential fluoric pesticide intermediate in China? What are the key technologies that domestic fluoric pesticide producers are most interested in? What’s the trend for China’s fluoric pesticide intermediate? Are there some potential commercial opportunities in this intermediate industry? CCM International sincerely invites you to join our workshop to discuss and exchange views with experts from both domestic and overseas top enterprises.
