COFCO to establish starch sugar plant China Agri- Industries Holdings Limited (China Agri-Industries), a listed company held by China Oil & Foodstuffs Corporation (COFC establish a starch sugar factory in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. The project is planned to be divided into two stages with total invest about USD75 million and expected to be completed in 2013.


The major product in the fist-stage construction is F55 high fructose syrup (HFS) with capacity of 100,000t/a, which can bring in USD tax payment. And the major products in the second stage are maltose syrup and HFS, with total capacity of 200,000t/a. Moreover, th stage construction is expected to be started in July 2011. COFCO discloses that products produced in this plant will be mainly provided to some large well-known beverage and food process enterprises, like Coco Cola, PepsiCo, Uni-president, etc. After the whole project being completed, total capacity of starch sugar in th will reach 300,000t/a and the annual sales is expected to amount to USD150 million, which can bring in USD4.5 million tax payment It is not the first time for COFCO to enter starch sugar industry. In July 2009, China Agri-Industries bought all shares of Rongshi Biot Biological Technology Co., Ltd. (Rongshi Biotechnology), the largest starch sugar producer with total capacity of 150,000t/a in Yang Delta. (Corn Products China News 0908, P9) The initiation of this new starch sugar plant is the company's another step to expand it sugar business, which also signifies COFCO's great confidence in starch sugar industry. COFCO is not the only company to have a plan to expand the starch sugar business. It's reported that Xiwang Sugar Holdings Com Limited is also planning to expand its crystallized fructose capacity .........
