CCM Data & Primary Intelligence Overview of Bromine Market in February 2011 March 7, 2011; CCM International Limited The price of Bromine in Febuary kept stable between USD 4,800 to 4,850/ton. Some producers in South-China ceased Bromine production during the Spring festival, causing the shortage of bromine. Other producers kept working during the holiday in order to meet the demand from the placed orders. The supply met the demand in general. Just after the holiday, bromine market in South-China started operation again. The price of both canned and jarred bromine increased by USD 30 to 80 /ton. The price of bromine increased slightly due to the increase of the price of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from Albemarle Corporation around the end of Feb. The contradiction between supply and demand will be more serious in March as the intense demand for downstream products in this month. It is predicted that the price will continue to increase while the supply is in shortage and the high price will not decline till the mid May.
