Total sales of eight glyphosate companies takes up 17.81% of the total sales of China top 100pesticide companies in 2011 Summary: The total sales of China's top eight glyphosate companies increases in the past three years since 2009, but its proportion in the total sales of China top 100 pesticide companies decreases to 17.81% in 2011 from 20.57% in 2009. Tag: Glyphosate, Q3, operating performance, glycine, export, glyphosate technical, glyphosate formulation, price, destination, PMIDA, analysis, capacity On 18 Oct., 2012, China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA) issued the list of 2011 China top 100 pesticide companies, showing that the total sales of eight glyphosate companies was about USD1,766.51 million (RMB11,020 million), which took up about 17.81% of the total sales of China's top 100 pesticide companies in 2011, down by 0.63% over 2010, according to CCM’s November Issue of Glyphsoate China Monthly Report.
The total glyphosate capacities of the eight companies, namely Zhejiang Wynca Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. (Zhejiang Wynca), Zhejiang Jinfanda Bio-Chemical Co., Ltd. ( Zhejiang Jinfanda), Nantong Jiangshan Agrochemical & Chemicals Co., Ltd. (Nantong Jiangshan), Sichuan Fuhua Tongda Agrochemical Technology Co., Ltd. (Sichuan Fuhua), Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Yangnong), Anhui Huaxing Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (Anhui Huaxing), Jiangsu Good Harvest-Weien Agrochemical Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu Good Harvest-Weien) and Shandong Weifang Rainbow Chemical Co., Ltd. (Shandong Weifang Rainbow), is about 420,000t/a at present, accounting for about 56% of China's total.
According to the list, the total sales of these eight companies increased by about 20.29% over 2010, resulting from strong overseas demand for glyphosate, and the sales of seven of them except Anhui Huaxing rose (FIGURE 10).
The total sales of these eight companies has increased in the past three years since 2009, but its proportion in the total sales of China's top 100 pesticide companies did not rise correspondingly year by year. Instead, it decreased to 17.81% in 2011 from 20.57% in 2009 (FIGURE 11), showing that the growth rate of sales in these eight companies is lower than that in the total sales of China top 100 pesticide companies in the past three years.
The most important reason for the lower growth rate of sales is the depressed price of glyphosate in the past three years (FIGURE 12). In the past three years, the price of glyphosate stayed at a low level. According to CCM's Glyphosate Report, except in March and April 2009, the price of glyphosate technical was lower than USD4,000/t in the rest months in the past years.
The list of China Top 100 pesticides companies is just like a thermometer that shows the development of the subdivided industries of China's pesticide industry. Besides, the change in sales and ranking of these eight companies in the list also reflects the development of China's glyphosate industry to some extent.
The proportion of these eight companies in the total sales of China top 100 pesticide companies fell to 17.81% in 2011, but it's likely to increase in 2012 mainly due to the rising overseas demand and price of glyphosate (FIGURE 13).
