Term 4 Week 1 16th October 2018
Dear Parents/Caregivers, Welcome to Term 4! I trust that all CPS families had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed the beautiful spring-time weather. Students returned to school this week excited and raring to go for our final term of the year. The Term 4 calendar is filling up fast with excursions, Schools Spectacular, Kinder Orientation, Swimming Scheme and of course all the wonderful end of year celebrations. Thank you to all families for the outstanding effort with uniforms and school hats this week. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new families who have joined the CPS school community this term. Attached to this week’s Newsletter are the two surveys that were distributed with the final newsletter last term. The first is a Homework Survey for all students. The information provided will assist us as we work to develop a consistent school-wide approach to Homework in each Stage. Surveys are in paper form as well as on-line at the following link: https:// goo.gl/forms/dU3tS4CA87rP2Oan1 and I ask that they be submitted by the end of Term 4 Week 2 (26th October). The second survey is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Survey for parents of students in Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4). We are working with Cowra High School, Mulyan PS and the Cowra Small Schools to gauge interest in implementing a BYOD program in Cowra schools for Stage 3 students. The proposal is that schools purchase a laptop for each student going into Year 5 in 2019, which parents are then able to pay off over a period of two years. By the time their child leaves Year 6 and heads off to High School, they would own their own laptop, suitable for use in Year 7. Once surveys are completed, we will look at the responses and determine whether this is an idea we pursue. Surveys are available in paper form or can be completed online at: https://goo.gl/forms/p8J3sLymDPyH6ezO2 by the end of Term 4 Week 2 (26th October). Our Kinder Orientation program begins next Tuesday and will run from 9:3011:00am for the next four weeks. Mrs White, Mrs McFarland and Miss Causton are looking forward to welcoming all our 2019 Kindergarten students and have lots of exciting activities planned. If you haven’t returned your child’s enrolment form yet, please remember to bring it to school during orientation so that we have all the information required and can start to organise our classes for next year. A big congratulations to the enthusiastic students involved in our lunchtime Gardening Club with Miss Uren, Mrs Haskew, Mrs Skene and Mrs Wallace! They have planted flowers and vegetables including lettuce, broccoli, cucumber and capsicum seedlings and continue to care for them each day. The students have also germinated some rockmelon seeds and a

few different herb seeds. Thank you to Mrs Wallace who brought in some iris tubers - these have been planted at the front of the COLA, along with some cornflowers and sunflowers, which are all growing nicely. We can’t wait to see our garden expand! Last weekend was the annual Cowra Show and it was lovely to see so many CPS families there enjoying the day! The CPS Stand in the Pavilion looked amazing and was filled with many wonderful artworks created by our students. A big thank you to the staff who generously gave up time in their holidays to set up the display and man the stall over the weekend. There were entries from CPS students across all of the different categories, and many of these were recognised with awards and prizes – well done to all involved!
Reminder 2019 Kindergarten Please return your child’s enrolment form to the school as soon as possible so that we can organise our class organisation for 2019. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school on 6342 2400.
Have a great week…
