school year 2012-2013
fter the successful years for the College of Computer Studies, it is about time that we revolutionize the basic identity of the fruitful department, the logo. Let me share with you the details of the different inscriptions that composed the new CCS logo.
The logo is bordered with a circular outline representing the continuous and infinite learning process. In the field of IT, modernization happens in just a glimpse, thus, for you to succeed; you should be able to embark yourself a neverending discovering of knowledge.
The new logo evolved from a unique and high-tech look that would easily give emphasize the educational environment of the department. It is crafted with techy symbols and shapes that justify the mission and vision of the department.
When we hear computer, we mostly associate the circuits outline to it. It is because computers are basically composed of it. To create easy identity that the logo belongs to an IT organization, these designs were added. Also, the circuit outlines point to the outer part of the logo. These represents that the department doesn’t confine the learning in the four walls of a classroom. CCS encourage learning in the real world by means of participating in outside activities, joining regional and national organizations, exposing their students in the real world of work and the likes.
The centerpiece of the logo is a laptop computer. Considering that we are existing in an innovative way of learning and the department provides quality IT education, a laptop computer was used to signify the education. This is place in the center of the logo simply because the department’s main priority is not just to provide IT education, but worth and life-changing IT education. As CCS provides IT education to its learners, the department envisions to create ethical and technically-competent solution-oriented leaders and professionals to contribute to the nation building.
The three tech-rings around the centerpiece. These symbolize the department’s assets to support its main goal. The first ring shows an icon of a professional person. This represents the competent and qualified faculty members that the department always maintains. To assure that the department provides the best IT education, it assures that its educators are skilled enough to provide precious knowledge to its learners. Also, it represents the professional graduates that the department continously produce contribute to the networking capability of CCS. The second ring displays a monitor. In IT field, knowledgeable educators alone cannot resist the demand of learning. This symbol embodies the state-of-the art facilities, cutting edge equipment and high-end laboratories that the department have. The third ring exhibits a globe with arrow up icon. This denotes the different essential linkages (locally or internationally) that the department have gained over its existence. This is very important in assuring the quality and updated knowledge to provide. With a good linkage from the industry, IT organizations and the like, the department are up to date with the latest trends, knows the needs of the industry and be able to easily deploys students to the appropriate field of work after graduation.
Behind the centerpiece, is a triangular shape that represents the withstand capability of the department. Considering that the department is one of the youngest departments in the university, CCS commits to endure the next challenges and be much even stronger like a pyramid or a triangle.
The labels show the name of the department, College of Computer Studies and the university it belongs, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation. Together with that, the year it was established is also included to remind everyone the historical beginnings of the department.
NOTE: The newly designed logo is a product of CCS Logo Making Contest initiated by the Office of the Dean through the Cyber Council last school year. It was won by Mr. Karl Patrick Camota, a BSCS student. The original design was edited by Mr. Raymond S. Bermudez, CCS Faculty member, in order to polished the designs and make sure that it reflects the department itself.

In the past, the College of Computer Studies’ Online Publication has given voice to us, the Cyber Envergans; but everything has its end. During the school year 2004–2005, Online Publication released its final issue. In same year, it was retired to the archives. Until the school year 2011–2012, we, headed by a few chosen competitive students and professors, have revived, reactivated, unburned, or as we IT students say it, rebooted and reprogrammed the past Online Publication into a new breed, the “Online Magazine”.
The Online Magazine is a new and improved version of the Online Publication: one that was given birth from hopes, dreams and established principles of our predecessors, one that was born by the inspired minds of today’s Cyber Envergans, one that was made to feature the Cyber Envergans and how they improved with technology, while still living up to the principles of the university. The Online Magazine shall show the whole university what true Cyber Envergans can do, while we bring up to the expectations of the ones before us and upholding the dignity of the paper we write in.
ONLINE MAGAZINE | 3
This year, the very first issue of the Online Magazine aims not only to exceed what our predecessors have done, but also to praise what they have done. With the newest technologies in paper publication and data gathering techniques, and with the most creative writers and editors our department possesses, this magazine shall serve every student the news not only from the College of Computer Studies, not only form the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation itself but also from outside the school borders: every news, every detail and every happening that concerns us. Cyber Envergans, we shall give it to you, each and every one of you, as fresh as it can be.

school year 2012-2013
“Welcome Cyber Envergan readers! It’s good to see you here!” Well, before anything else, I am thanking our Almighty God for all the challenges and opportunities He had given to me. At the same time, I would like to extend my greatest gratitude to all CCS students and professors who believed and supported me; that I can be one of the assets of the Cyber Council and not a liability. To be an asset to a council is not just pure privilege. If you aspire to be one, you must be positive. You must showcase your capability to handle responsibility and prove yourself despite of the pressure in order to meet the expectations of the people around you. Thus, in spite of those expectations and pressures, together with my colleagues in the council, we shall surpass every obstacle in our way to achieve our common goal – the continuous development of our beloved department. Secondly, I want to congratulate all the winners and participants of the activities held last semester, such as Cyber Intramurals and Interdepartmental Games. We are so proud of you guys! We are looking forward for more achievements in the upcoming years. And since 2013 gets nearer, and the Foundation Competitions is coming closer, as the chairwoman I am expectant for the participation and cooperation of every Cyber Envergan, because we just cannot handle it without you. YOU are one of the ingredients of every success in our department.

And before I forget, I would like to say Congratulations and keep up the good work to all DSC and SITEs officers for the success of every activity that we have held. We are halfway in of our term. I know we have so many plans and we will not stop here just because we accomplished something; rather we shall continue our voyage and make the most of our diplomacy for more future triumphs. Good luck to us! Lastly, we all know that College of Computer Studies is continuously improving throughout its journey. We, as the student under this department, have the duty to make our part in order to attain its fullest victory. Remember that we are obliged to carry our department flag with honor. We all know that our department has its goal. However, the department itself cannot do this all, it needs the support and help of each one of us. Let your helping hand and sincere heart make a part in order to reach this goal, as well as our vision and mission. Learn by heart and always keep in mind that, “Alone you can do so little; Together we can do so much.” Give your share and we can make it all the way.

Y4IT. Senior Cyber Envergans on their trip to the biggest IT conference in the country

by Mr. RAYMOND S. BERMUDEZ
W
hen I was formally advised to attend the National Conference in IT Education at Northwestern University at Laoag, Ilocos Norte I had the strange impression that nothing much really interesting in that place. Nevertheless, the geography, history, climate, local culture, lifestyle, landmarks and other various attractions proved me dead wrong. This was the first free, non-scheduled and farthest travel in my life where I will present my paper. I used to participate in research presentation which had a hassle-free schedule, but I had never gone on a distant travel before. As a result, I felt happier than other times since I felt unexpected excitement in the travel. Travelling from our province to another province, our travel to the Northern part of the Philippines is outstanding. Great memories began after the registration and opening of the conference. We apparently noticed that we’re about to start our voyage together with the other delegates when we rode a van going to our first destination - The Bangui Windmills. We are dumbfounded with the pretty-cool gigantic electric fans. These Ilocos Windmills supply the province with energy generated from the wind. It is consist of 20 windmills which provide 40% of the power requirements of Ilocos Norte. The province has a windy climate, and to adapt they made a way to make it more useful by resembling huge electric fans that would be generating electricity. Magnificent feelings and fulfillment set in as we reached the lighthouse area. The view of Cape Bojeador Lighthouse was spectacular. This lighthouse is also known as Burgos Lighthouse. According to its local history, it is a cultural heritage structure in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. This Cape Bojeador Lighthouse still has the remains of its elegance. The entire edifice is made of red bricks, complemented by embellished grill works and woodcarvings. Mother Nature’s art! I exclaimed after seeing the view of the rock formation known as Kapurpurawan Rock Formation. These various rock shapes offered bewilderment to everyone who visited the place. It is completely different from the usual sharp coral rocks found at hand. Its undeniable prize of the province, a must see tourist destination. Paoay Church was a church which was according to studies adapts the seismic conditions of the country. That explains why it is still up today. In 1993, the church was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as one best examples of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines. The Paoay Church (also known as the St. Augustine Church) is a historical church located in the town of Paoay in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Our sumptuous lunch was not yet been experienced since we had limited time in visiting the well-known Marcos Mausoleum at Marcos Presidential Center in Batac. It is a public site yet, only opens to public until 4pm. We made sure that we visited it first as also advised by our driver who acted as our tour guide too.
At last! We were satisfied with the appetizing lunch at the small restaurant in Batac. The famous Bagnet in Ilocandia pleased our cravenness to eat. This bagnet was tasty as crispy pata of Tagalogs. Fried Pork dish of Ilocos. – Revised! Laoag indeed has a handful of attractions, and one of the most intriguing attractions is the Sinking Bell Tower, according to its history it is 85 meters away from the St. William’s Cathedral, which is one of the biggest cathedrals of the Philippines. A few meters away from the cathedral, is considered as one of the tallest bell towers in the Philippines at 45 meters high – Sinking Bell Tower of Laoag City – It is said to be sinking because the tower is so heavy and was built on a sandy ground which makes it sink considerably unto the ground at a rate of 1-inch every year. Stories mention that a person on horseback could enter the tower with ease back when it was built. This year, a person of normal height has to bend down just to enter the vaulted entrance. Ever heard of the term kalesa? This mode of transportation can be observed in Heritage Village of Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Like the ones you watch on movies, the kalesas are very much like royal treasures of the country. Why? Because it is a culture of an early time preserved in an urban society today. This was really a realization when we are lucky enough to witness the exquisiteness of Vigan at night. It is truly an amazing experience with the heritage city of the Philippines where everything is antiquated or has a touch of antiquity. Being the oldest surviving Spanish colonial city in the Philippines, Vigan City preserves and restores antiquated houses and cobbled narrow streets making it the perfect colonial city. Our journey continued after the dinner. Laoag offered much of the Laoag Central Plaza, Aurora Park located in front of the Capitol building, where the statue of the maiden Pamulinawen – where the Tobacco Monopoly Monument was erected in 1882 – left of the park is the Laoag City Hall, Tobacco Monopoly Monument as a thanksgiving to the Crown of Spain, Province Capitol and the white and old Laoag City Hall. Since we only have limited time, we were not able to go to other places. On the second day, I have to do my real objective in attending the conference, to present my research paper. On the presentation, I would say I feel more relax, maybe because of worth seeing sceneries that we witness on our first day stay at Ilocos. At the end, I would say that the three-day training and vacation started and ended amazingly. No wasted time spent in that must-see place! Sense of admiration and fulfilment transpired in my one-of-a-kind travel…

D
uring the first semester of 2012, the IT departments of almost all schools have faced a minimal drop in the number of their enrollees. Many high school graduates and even college students would rather take a vocational course than to take a full 4-year course especially Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science (CS). Also, during this time, a news reporter have quoted that in the coming years the enrollment of IT departments and colleges may have to be forced closed because of the growing population of our graduates who are underemployed and worse, UNEMPLOYED! Wait, hold on a minute. Two to three years ago, back when some of us were still in our high school days, many – yes there are many – have testified and proven that Information Technology industry has grown exponentially, that it has shaken the world; that the industry was in great need of highly skilled workers in the Information Technology field both domestic and international. Such happening has led to the out-spring of many independent computer schools offering 2-year vocational IT courses to those who could not afford 4-year education in a university, and even the opening of IT departments offering 4-year IT courses in some pre-eminent schools across the country. Same reason we have chosen this course, because of the thought that this course would fulfill our dreams. Now, why does the education sector want to close IT enrollment? Why is there such a great number of unemployed IT graduates protesting in the streets of country, if the demand is great for our kind? Many of our colleagues are driven to jobs they were not supposed to be in. Why is this so? A brilliant economist named Dr. Bernardo M. Villegas
school year 2012-2013
answered those questions. He devised a thorough study of the situation. He then concluded that the growing population of graduates of today, employed, unemployed and underemployed, could be categorized into two: namely the “KNOWLEDGE WORKERS” and the “KNOWLEDGE TECHNOLOGISTS” (TESDA. CAO-CISD; “What it takes to be an Employable IT Graduate.”(Issue No. 13)). He said that the “knowledge workers” are graduates who have considerable knowledge, training, and expertise in their field such as doctors, professors, accountants and engineers has. On the other hand, “knowledge technologists” are those who have sufficient knowledge in their field but not enough to be considered as experts, and who usually spends more time working with their hands rather that in an apprenticeship mode. By definition, the study clearly states that those who had poor education and who lack intellectual and formal IT training led to some of our graduates to be considered as “knowledge technologists” while those who had the proper education, training, and motivation belonged to the “knowledge workers”. It only proves that there is really no lack of job opportunities for us, there is only incompetency among our graduates, which led them to become underemployed and unemployed. We all have fair chances in education, be it a course of two years or four years. So that we can never say that we have no choice, because we always have choices in life. We just need to create those choices, creating a backdoor if you prefer. Choosing our path is always and will always be with us; we just need to have the proper motivation. What count here are the choices we make. If you choose to be incompetent, so be it, be an underestimated clerk your whole life; or choose to become the best and be the boss of your own company. The pick is yours, so what do you want to be a plain “knowledge technologist” or a “knowledge worker”?

by Jenine Ann Buenaseda The College of Computer Studies is a department similar to any other, except for the fact that it offers legendary and excellent quality information technology (IT) education that one could look for.Other than the good courses that it provides, this department is truly a great start while one is planning ahead for a good future. Of course it would be impossible without the guidance of our dearest professors, who all the way made this department a stepping stone for the IT students to reach their dreams in the IT Industry. Well, realizing that they are just our mentors who inspire us is just NOT enough. Why don’t we start off by getting to know their roles and their abilities in teaching such subjects that we came to love and hate at the same time. Let’s acknowledge their qualifications and certifications that they have attained so far to be in the rightful place where they are right now. Aside from the fact that all permanent faculty members have their post-graduate degrees in line with IT education, almost all have IT-related certifications. Half of them have PC Operations NC II. Two of them are Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), three are IBM DB2 Academic Associates, Three are Microsoft Office specialists and two are Microsoft Certified Professionals Additionally, all faculty members are active in IT related activities in regional and national levels. They are all members of the PSITE (Philippine Society of Information Technology Education) and PeLS (Philippine e-Learning Society). They attend IT related trainings to be updated in the current issues and trends in IT, and to develop their skills and be more competitive in teaching new subjects. In addition to that, the College of Computer Studies has the youngest Dean among all the Deans of the MSEUF’s Departments. They have a youthful faculty that makes them closer to the students. They are fun and quirky in a way that they can also be dynamically informative and supportive during departmental activities. What have been mentioned above are living proofs that you are in good hands; all you have to do is persevere and remember responsibility for your deeds and choices. As for me, I do not have any regrets studying here in a provincial university despite knowing the fact that IT education is better in Manila. It is because CCS provides the same amount of quality education that IT schools in Manila has to offer. I solemnly believe that the success of getting a job is not based on the name of the school that you came from, thus it is based on the knowledge that you gained and the strategy you’ll make to market yourself in the IT Industry.

’t know how to do mming: times when we don gra pro in s nce erie exp own e in our programming Everyone has their es, and that really added spic tax syn the w kno ’t don we n as we started this chosen something, times whe ations and trials is boring. And plic com t hou wit life s, goe ing lives. As the say by those languages. ked by the logic being offered career of ours, we had been tric Who has ever loved programming even from the very start? Well, not me. Based on my experience, I honestly didn’t have much caution about the course I have taken; all I knew is that it is all about computers. I didn’t expect that we (IT Students) will write programs, create games and even make sorts of systems. And then, boom, a bomb exploded right on my face. I was really shocked to know that I will be writing and coding. At first it was like, “OMG! What course have I chosen?!” I have never liked thinking and analyzing C language. I am no logical thinker. But when I started to learn little by little, I started to appreciate it. It was like I have won a lotto jackpot when I first ran my program saying “Hello World”. And that’s how it all started. I can still remember those time pressures our professor used to give us during hands on exercises; those times when I wanted to shout to my professor and tell them, “Please have mercy! Kindly help me.”; those panicking moments when I pressed ALT+C and then, “OMG! There’s an error! What did I do? Turbo C, please be good to me!” One time, I hadn’t observed what I have done to make my program run. And then, like a moment of triumph, at the back of my mind was “Let’s go and party rock!” playing. A very great achievement to feel, when you have been the first to run a given program, it was like... “I am the king of the world!” Moreover, there was a time when all of us do not have any idea what the syntax was; so, we just wasted our time chitchatting, not minding our grades and telling ourselves, “Di bale, bawi nalang tayo next time.” Imagine a stroppy moment when a random classmate told you he/she won’t make his/her program; later see that classmate too busy programming, then panic and make your own when you only have three minutes left. All the loads of machine problems and staying awake all night just to accomplish it, but end up sleeping because you were tired of thinking about it. But most of all, I will never forget when I finished my first program which I made overnight, sleepless. It was nice to know that you as a beginner did make
even a simple program which you can call your own. And that program made me pass in my IT101. Yes, my experiences in this class were miserable. Many mistakes done, but I ended up learning and appreciating it. At first for me, I felt like punished by Greek gods and goddesses to think of those bloody codes. It was really tremendous, my experience. It’s really how it started. And I will never forget it. But despite of miseries I had experienced, it also caused me knowledge which I can really use. Let’s say in Java. It brought me that kind of pleasure wherein I can feel that I’m using my brain for logical thinking and analyzing finally. The situation was a competition that everybody longs for, and you know what, it was very fulfilling when you finished first. Yes, those were my moments when we had to really put effort in everything we were doing. I was just wondering why I had taken this up in the first place, but end up smiling, for it brought me knowledge despite of having lots of difficulties in programming. IT101 offered me lots of stuff I had to learn as a programmer. It made me have that kind of stuff which called “Think first before doing things.” I really gained skills especially in the middle end of the semester. I’ll never forget those hand-shaking moments and the knowledge IT101 had offered me, the knowledge it had offered us. We will share that knowledge in younger years who are taking up this tricky subject. And it made me think, this is just the basic and it made me going gaga. How about more languages to come? Will it be trickier than C Language? Well, I don’t need to over think for I know in myself I had learned from the basic. Just an attentive mind and a passion for this subject are what I need in the more booming languages I will be taking up.
You, did your programming life also started in IT101?

“Codes, always codes”. You can take notice of this statement all the time. As a student, once you enter this kind of profession you must be responsible and ready to face all the consequences together with it. Choosing this career, dealing with it is not easy as what you think. Memorizing and studying some basic structures in coding and thinking what kind of program you want to develop are some instances that you will face in this course. The thing is tough, but once you finished it, you will realize that it is simple. One of the highlights of this course is codes. This is one of the most important parts that you must learn if you are engaged with information technology. At first you probably will think of giving up, but later you will learn to love it. In the relationship between teachers and students, without students there are no teachers and without teachers there are also no students. Similar in codes, if there is a CCS student, definitely codes exist. In other words, codes are always existent. From time to time, a student can utter these lines, “Ayoko na, Shift na ‘ko.” Related? You can almost quit up coding, but codes would not quit on

you. As long as there is a computer or other hardwares, codes are present. Codes help us to make things better. An example is the situation in groceries or stores. The products are entitled with codes so that cashiers could identify them, and pass them by the apparatuses upon payment, and then know the total amount that the costumer purchased. For a programmer, codes also help a lot. These are the center of the programming world. Codes are the ingredients behind online games, land games, social networking sites and other softwares that we are fond of using. Today we are living in a modern world, many gadgets and software were develop behind this is codes. We cannot create new software without a program, and again and again, what makes a program? Codes. Whether you notice or not, admit or not, appreciate or not, codes are everywhere. As a student, it will always take part on us today. After all, we will realize that it has already taken part in the past, learn today, and then take the worth by heart in the future. Inescapable.

“Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievements” —Brian Tracy Many of us don’t really know what our purpose in life is, what we really want, and what we want to accomplish. Since our course is one of the most in demand jobs in the global world we’re here to study and to grasp. Some doubts and question are rumbling in each one of us about the course, profession, and future. To help and inspire us in our chosen career Jessa Cahilig, alumni of MSEUF batch 2011 will share something about her experiences and life studying at CCS department. Graduated Cum Laude, a loyalty awardee, a consistent dean’s Lister and now a software engineer at Ideawurx, Inc., Makati City. When OSA held a talk about ‘’career and guidance seminar” at RBA Hall, Ms. Jessa Chilig was invited as a resource speaker of that time. Sharing her experiences, inspiration, and willingness. She admits that as a student she is not a typical smart person, for her being smart is being effortless, she’s just a persistent student that if she didn’t study she will fail. She is also that kind of student who is “mabarkada”, drink occasionally, and cheats during exams. She chose Information Technology because all she knows is that she wants to become a programmer.

According to her computer science and information technology is not an issue outside the industry. It is YOU WHO WILL MAKE OUT OF IT. She added, if you want to be successful first thing you should keep in mind is WHAT YOU REALLY WANT AND LOVE; with that passion you should have guts to accomplish it. It’s not about money it’s about happiness. Another thing is YOU SHOULD GO with the current trend, keep studying and keep on the flow if you will not do it you will get paved. Then, KNOW YOUR WORTH, it boosts your confidence of being yourself, that you are unique and no one can replace you. And lastly inspired by the 48 laws of power, NEVER OUTSHINE YOUR MASTER, this master is the professors who have an unending power to teach you. Without them you will not become what you are so respect them. When it comes to differentiation between learning in school and world outside it, ate Jessa sums up that what you have learn in school is just the basic part of reality. It shows a big difference but that basic part is the most important of all because it serves as your weapon that need to be sharpened with that polish skills together with your competence and willingness you will certainly reach your goal. With these inspirational words of Ate Jessa hope we can achieve what we want, identify our purpose in life, and make our goals to be a fuel of our achievements. Like ate jessa her family, ambitions, skills, and love on what she wants are the fuel of her achievements might inspire us to be one of those dreamers and make this dreams into reality. There are many competitors outside, there are many works waiting, it is within us on how we can be successful, on how we can show our capabilities, and how we can satisfy them with our qualities – Now, do you already know your goals? Did you already decided on what you really want? If so, MAKE IT!

Just when you thought you’ll spend the rest of your day by tediously collecting class cards from different professors and departments, the former ITD Director Mr. Argel de Mesa came up with the idea of a student information system – the Enverga University Student Information System (EUSIS). Its objectives are, of course, to lessen the workload of the faculty members and other employees, and to make the grade inquiry of students easier.
The best part about EUSIS for students like me is the Online Grade Inquiry. We, who once took days to collect all of our class cards, will now be able to gather all of our grades at once. Less effort, less sweat. All we have to do is type “http://eusis/” in the address bar of a web browser and use our student number as the username and password to log in. Then, we can view our grades and just print it. It can be accessed only through MSEUF WiFi connection or by using the available workstations in the Internet Access Center. But EUSIS isn’t just about online grade inquiry; it also has other features such as: Online Grade Submission for Faculty Faculties can now bid goodbye to filling up of three grading sheets, thanks to EUSIS. They just have to wait for a signal from the registrar if all of the sections are ready for grading. After getting the signal, faculties only have to log in to their accounts, and they will see the lists from the sections they handle. Afterwards, they just need to encode the grades and then go to the registrar to get the print-out. “Dati, kailangan pa nilang mag-fillup ng tatlong grading sheets. Noong nagawa ang EUSIS, isang beses lang sila mag-eencode tapos may report na agad,” said Mr. Radison Eule. Ledger ITD updates the database when the grading submission starts. In the Ledger, students can see what they paid for, how much they paid, and their remaining balances. It shows how much the balance of a student is as of when the database has been updated.
Computer Service Request Departments can send an inquiry to ITD if they are having difficulties related to computers, and ITD will send someone to fix the problem. The departments would not have to make a phone call if they need assistance. Human Resource Information System (HRIS) The Human Resource Information System contains the files of the employees, their leaves, and other documents with soft copies; so when the time comes that they need it, they won’t have to patiently search through a bunch of papers. Online Evaluation Grade evaluation of students is easier. Instead of lining up in the registrar, the department secretaries can now immediately show the already validated grade evaluation of a student, hassle-free.
Thanks to Mr. Eleazer Salanda, Mr.Radison Eule and Mr. Ervien Roxas – the developers who made EUSIS possible. In order to develop EUSIS, they used programming languages such as C#.net and ASP.net. For the DBMS, they used MS SQL Server 2000 and Windows Server 2008 as their OS. It took them six months to develop the Online Grade Inquiry and Ledger. The Online Grade Submission has taken a month and it is still on development. October 2011 was its first run and implementation. Though we were already experiencing the benefits of EUSIS, they are always enhancing it. As what Mr. Eule said, “Ongoing ang development. Hindi sya isang buwan tapos agad.” As of now, they are working on the Online Registration. With it, students could, of course, register. We could see the subjects that we need to enroll for the present semester, choose the subjects that we want to enroll and also choose our schedule. Simple descriptions just won’t work. We will have to see it for ourselves, and we will do… soon after it has been implemented.

One of the perks of being a college student is a two–week long semestral break, or “sembreak”. Sembreak is a good time to have fun, relax, and refocus on the things you want to accomplish during the second semester. It is welcomed by all, because the previous semester is finally over. During this time, one can go pack up and have a lovely vacation out–of–town, or just stay at home pigging out, being utterly unproductive for the rest of the days and after some time realize the worth of the time wasted. Even though this time is just enough for us to reenergize ourselves; others is still left hanging for more. They feel sad about the end of the holidays and can’t get enough of the short break; some do not like it because they miss their allowances. Others love to see their old friends again and make new ones, or because they just love new beginnings. One bad habit here in our university is that, students used to go to their classes in the second week of class

Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, one of the most used shortcuts on the keyboard. Don’t tell me you haven’t used them. Actually, they are pretty helpful for most people or rather, for all people especially students. I can still recall this Facebook page which I think has more or less 300,000 likes, “Copy+Paste=Graduation”. I know this, because I for one am one of those 300,000 plus. Being a college student, we always encounter such assignments that are generally found on the Internet. Mostly from Wikipedia, we just need to highlight the necessary texts and press the magic keys, then, voila – assignment done! It’s true, easy as pie, but have you ever observed something eccentric about those sites? They have an EDIT BUTTON, meaning, people can revise the text through their own predilection, it doesn’t signify that when the information is from Wiki, Google, Yahoo or whatever, it is already a reliable source. There would come a time when you would regret doing such things. What if, you’ve been trapped in a circumstance? What if, for instance you have your oh–so attractive classmate, not to mention his/her breathtaking eyes, extensive alluring lashes and irresistible beam,
thinking that there won’t be any classes happening in the first week. Well, some may be right, but then some are not because there are still professors who want to break this ill idealism. I remember one of my professors who already gave an activity in the first week and already checked the attendance. Very few of our classmates attended that class during the first week, therefore they were the ones granted by a grade on the activity, and the rest of us got zero. We even got absences for not being able to attend on the first week. Even the fact that there are still late enrollees in the first week didn’t make us exceptions. Most of us were left shocked and realized what a loss it was. It seems like a bad omen for the start of the semester. We learned our lesson and now it seems that I don’t want it to happen again. I know that for some of us, the before– and after– sembreak is the period of college life wherein most of us get lazy, lost, and out of focus. Despite of all of these dramas, why don’t we get a new perspective in life and stop making the same mistakes? Better set our priorities straight and make a change by fighting off laziness.
then he/she would ask you if you would let him/her copy your research work. Then of course, above all those magnificent descriptions, would you have the courage to say no? Of course not. Then, this unanticipated recitation came, then your ‘Lovie’ was asked about the research, yes, to your knowledge. He/She doesn’t determine the answer, then seek you for it. What now? You know very clear to yourself that you just copy–pasted it from the who–the–hell–knows–website. What would you do? That’s what I’m saying here, you can’t just copy–paste without even reading the content of it, because you wouldn’t want to humiliate yourself and lose some points to the ‘apple of your eye’, right? Also, copying such texts without acknowledging its sources are illegal. It’s called PLAGIARISM. I know you wouldn’t want a stuff like this happen to you, but know that things that are similar to this might come without you even noticing it approaching. Open books, explore on printed references, and don’t depend only on these key functions, get out of your comfort zones and ramble the world outside it.

“How could I ever escape this boredom?” I said talking to my reflection. It’s still vacation 2012, and I miss school, I mentally kicked myself for saying that. I was just as bored as a leaf under the tree; I need to use my time for something that is in my interest. Maybe I can read or something? ―no, still boring. Then it hit me, the Internet, how dare I forget that?! I googled images of some celebrity icons. As I was scrolling to the images of one, Naya Rivera, a very unrelated photo was in it. It is an image of a curly blonde woman wearing “Google Smart–Glasses” as what it says on the caption, I opened it and took me to an unfamiliar website “Techod dot com” (http://techod.com/new–technology–2013/). I can’t wait to share what I saw. So here it goes…
I read it aloud to myself while skimming down the site. It showcases different technologies that will be released in the approaching year. The
Smart–Glasses (Project Glass), is a wearable eyeglasses with all the functionality
of a smart phone. This was made possible by a diminutive team of Google engineers that have been working for over two years now. The features of this so–called Project Glass are: the clear lens could display anything from text messages and reminders, to video charts and maps with turn– by–turn directions. They may also be capable of taking photos and recording videos; all through simple voice commands, according to the concept Google released earlier this year. Google also stated that although the finished product is still some way off, it’s believed that we may see it on shelves sometime in 2013. “I believe these glasses would be perfect for spying.” I said while evilly laughing in my head.
Moving on, the next gizmo presented was a
3D
Printer. How in the world was that possible? The site says as, I quote, “Okay, so 3D printing is something that is already possible, but those
printers are currently commercial–only solutions with the absolute cheapest coming in at a little over $10,000. In late 2013, we can expect the technology to significantly drop in price to the point where it will enter the consumer market.” End quote. So 3D printing really was possible. Anyway, it says that the printer works by a material that is gradually deposited through a controlled nozzle, layer by layer, building up to a fully–formed product, made of plastic or metal. It also avowed that it is, as well, achievable to draw your very own custom–made phonecase on Photoshop and print it, easy as it says.

Subsequently comes my favorite, I don’t want to be biased or something but this really is my most desired, This is really cool, know why? ―Here’s why. Leap Motion lets you interact with your computer in a completely new way. Natural hand movements are instantly interpreted with an unprecedented accuracy of 1/100 of a millimeter. In visual interpretation, for example, you put the product a few inches below the screen of your computer; then, using hand gestures like your forefinger and your thumb motioning a zoom in and out stroke the movement will be interpreted by Leap Motion and apply to the monitor, it will create a touch screen–like response to the computer, even without touching it, that’s how cool it is. You can also use a pen or any material for writing, and again, the device will interpret it then make it more like air–writing. The product highly recommends Apple products like the iMac Desktop Computer. You can also see a very interesting video showing the demonstration of Leap Motion through YouTube. Then you’ll know what I’m talking about.
The Leap Motion.

Time has flown so fast and I never thought I had skipped lunch; I never skipped a meal before, now my stomach is grumbling like a spoiled brat. I better eat before I couldn’t take my hunger anymore and start chewing the keyboard so, that was just a few from all the great technologies coming our way this 2013. It is just appalling to think that it might take time before I could have any of these because, the price isn’t as cheap as a candy, you know? While shutting down my computer, I abruptly laughed out loud at myself because the idea of browsing for images of celebrities landing to the new technologies of 2013, was never part of my plan, it is beyond doubt ―boredom can take you anywhere.

Kahit idivide mo pa yung pagmamahal ko sa’yo sa zero, it’s always undefined. Parang pi ang pag ibig ko sa’yo, irrational and never ending. Kung sin2x ka at cos2x ako, then together we’d make one. Kaya sana ako na lang ang derivative mo so I could lie tangent to your curves. Okay lang din na maging second derivative mo so I could investigate your concavities. Kapag hindi kita nakikita, para akong Empty Set. But since distance equals velocity times time, let velocity and time approach infinity, because I want to go all the way with you. Kapag kasama kita it’s like switching to polar coordinates: complex and imaginary things now have a magnitude and direction. Buti na lang at hindi tayo parallel lines na tipong kahit gaano pa sila kahaba, they still don’t meet o kaya tangent line na they only meet once.
It’s You DOT Zharla mai de la masa Clocks are tickling. Fans are roaring. My eyes shed tears. Now, i’m frightened by my fears. I didn’t know I was already a fool. For giving my heart to you and you used it as a tool. I didn’t deserve to be hurted they said. But now, a million tears and broken heart I am led. I wish looks aren’t that requirement to find the one. But actually it is the one that requires the most. well, to be sarcastic. when you didn’t have it, Then back off, you’ll just be hurted. IT takes time to heal a wounded heart. But the most effective way is to move on. Call God and carry on. So that in the end of the day you’ll realize, Everything ends. Even a storm ends and sun shines.

I’m playin’ my guitar, as i wonder where you are, you’re a thousand miles away, i hope that you are okay I stay up late at nine, hoping that you’re fine, i want to take you home, that was written on my poem our distance’s seem so far, as far as the shining star, i hope that you are here, i hope that you are near if only i could feel your love, then i will thank the heavens above, don’t you see how much i missed you? how i wish you feel the same way too -j.bibit

Why does time always play with us? Missing you as it quickly pass To see you even once or twice Cause you’re the apple of my eyes Your smile, it makes my day so bright Million diamonds’ shining light To hear your voice is my delight It makes me want to hold you tight Cause you’re the reason I wake up The person that could fill the gap In my heart that would never stop Screaming that I love you a lot Now this is what I want to say That you’re the one I always pray Wishing you’ll be with me all day And that forever you will stay
Language: Nation’s Bridges - Darwin bulawan
There are no handles upon a language Whereby men take hold of it Whether we take divulge of it And mark it with signs for its remembrance. It is a river, this language, Once in a thousand years Breaking a new course, Changing its way to the ocean. It is mountain of bridges Moving to valleys And from nation to nation Crossing borders and mixing.
Languages die like rivers. Words wrapped round your tongue today And broken to shape of thought, Between the teeth and lips speaking. Now and today Shall be faded hieroglyphics Any more than the wind Blowing ten thousand years ago.
