Our mission is to prepare children with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities, to reach their highest potential in the sighted world.

Beth Haden, President Caryll Schultz, First Vice President Courtney Moilanen, Second Vice President Trey Williams, Secretary Kelly Bradley, Assistant Secretary Lyle Alexander, Treasurer Mike Judy, Assistant Treasurer Patrick Sallee, At Large Dr. Johann Ohly, At Large Carmen Thum, At Large David Westbrook, At Large Lisa Chase, Immediate Past President

This school year has required profound acts of courage of our staff and families alike. Families opened up their homes to us to meet the needs of their babies diagnosed with visual impairments and sent their little learners with developmental disabilities into our preschool during a year of global uncertainty of the enduring pandemic. Our team members showed up one home visit, functional visit evaluation, one lesson and therapy session at a time. Our administrative team ensured that we sustained our operations as we shifted from in-person to virtual meetings with donors, Board members and each other. Each school day took on a newfound feeling of profound accomplishment that we delivered on this mission in our newfound environment. Week after week, month after month, built our resilience to adapt amidst adversity as we had seen our students do for so many years as they embarked on their earliest days of their educational journeys.

Our village of teachers, therapists and administrative team widened our circle to ensure sustainability and safety during these extraordinary times. Building on our partnership with Children’s Mercy Hospital, we welcomed Dr. Maggie Wright, pediatrician at the Beacon Clinic, to serve as our first Medical Director. Our COVID Task Force worked under her guidance to navigate this new terrain of evolving protocol to ensure a safe environment for children and staff alike. We welcomed veteran early childhood special education administrator, Kerry Boehm, as our first Chief Operating Officer, to provide guidance to sustain our program model for years to come. Thank you for being a member of our village and standing by us during our time of greatest need. With your support, we have continued to provide the full scope of therapeutic services that infants and young children with visual impairments and developmental disabilities in our region deserve and need. In this together,

Molly Turner Executive Director

A NEW LOOK WE'VE REBRANDED!

We officially rebranded and framed our image in May of 2021. This transition brought our population a new website, a new logo, and a new voice that is committed to our mission of serving children with visual impairments. This representation reflects the forward-thinking initiative our educators bring to work every day.

3 | CCVI ANNUAL REPORT

The elevated display of our logo keeps a playful and adventurous tone while appropriately crediting the lifechanging stories that happen within the campus walls. CCVI is more than just a preschool or an early childhood center or a therapy provider; we are a community of hope.

Our voice in action.

KAUFFMAN FOUNDATION CCVI PARTNER

Kauffman Foundation The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation selected CCVI to create, pilot, and implement a school readiness assessment tool for children with blindness, visual impairment, and multiple disabilities. The protocol implemented a decision-making tree for assessment and transition supports for optimal success leading into kindergarten. 7 | CCVI ANNUAL REPORT

As the first recipient of this grant and a pioneer in assisting children with visual impairment as they transition to kindergarten, CCVI developed detailed profile assessments about the learning habits of our students. This was used by the child's parents and future elementary teachers once they aged out of CCVI Programs. As a firm advocate of teamwork, innovation, and connection, the Kauffman Foundation provided the opportunity for CCVI students to have a clearer path of partnerships in the Kansas and Missouri educational systems.

CCVI Trolley Run From uncertainty comes community. And that's exactly what existed on April 25th, 2021 during the 33rd Annual CCVI Trolley Run presented by NASB. This beloved event was held virtually in 2020, and our participants were eager to get back on the historic race route and show their support for CCVI.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

With nearly 3,600 registrations, the CCVI Trolley Run was the first race of this scale back in person. An 8-mile distance was also offered in addition to the classic 4-mile. Thanks to the support from our community, we raised over $400,000, which directly provides specialized services and individualized therapies for children with visual impairments. We look forward to continuing this tradition in 2022 on April 24 in Waldo, Brookside and the Country Club Plaza. 8 | CCVI ANNUAL REPORT
