Jiangmen City
What chances will a big event bring Jiangmen city?
Riverside New Town
As we can notice that the stadiums construction preparing for the games and the visitors who are attracted by big events like sports games do bring great chances for a city. Jiangmen is due to undertake the Guangdong Provincial Games in 2014. This project is an urban design for the area around the future sports center. The site of sports center is in a newly planned zone of Jiangmen suburb and how to take advantage of this opportunity to pull up construction in urban fringe area is crucial to Jiangmen's progress. Only sports is not enough to suppport the development of this area so that we plan more featured function for this project and suppose it to be the sub-center of Jiangmen. Yet any programme needs space to contain it. A series of suitable volume are created after the deep analysis about the site while taking local architecture style into considerations. We try to design a landscape that will evoke visitors' memories of water village according to the topology and form of Jiangmen. And this landscape is useful in facing the extreme climate problem. 6

Sport games do catch sight of people, but it is not able to provide persistent growing dynamic. Diversity of city programm is a solution to this question. We enlarge the extent of sports center including other urban functions to make it a destination that is more than a stadium. Also various kinds of activities, from Chinese traditional festival to modern celebrities, are stimulation to raise populartiy among citizens and remain stadium in high utilization ratio.

Merge the City Urban and Landscape Planning
Jia River is considered to be mother river in Yantai and citizens are fed on its water. Fishes used to swim in the river and numerous migrant bird coulds be seen in decade ago.
Merge the City, Urban and Landscape Planning
Unfortunately, as city develops dramatically during these years, Jia River steps away from people's sight. The east bank area of the river became fringe area of the city and most land there lie waste. Waste of landfill site, sewage disposal from small industrial both result in the drop of enviroment quality.

The first step we take in this project is to strengthen the connection between site and nearby area so that it helps form three continuous urban development axises. Meanwhile, biotope restoration is another issue we concern. Also how to revive old villages for tourism and culture display takes a great part in the project.

Biotope Restoration
Topography Transformation
However, the wetland that remains in estuary of Jia River continues to diminish during these years as a result of worsening water. The accumulation of waste in this area is another contaminating source. Two main methods for restoring biotope come up in this planning. We hope to cut off the pollution including sewage and waste firstly. Then vegetation is planted to create an ecological area for various animals. Visitors can also enjoy the pleasant park in different activities.
What is of more importance is to minize the waste pollution while creating this gracious area in such a significant ecology spot - Estuary of Jia River.

3. Trees and shrubs planted on the hill will create a great green place and the newly formed lake provide a habitat for various creatures.

Village Innovation
Fascinating villages are noticed easily among the site, while some aspects might be improved, such as building function and street scape. We try to conserve the most essential part of villages - the space network and architecture style. And we pick out a typical area to carry out the concept, which is to display the traditonal culture of Yantai, at the same time to help local citizens earn more from tourism. Problem Campsite
·No public space can be found on street ·Building facade along the street is dull ·Route for shopping is too direct and lack of change
·The function inside house 'inn' is simple ·House capacity is not enough to support higher-end touritsts ·Facility and enviroment are not attractive

Huangpu Stadium is one of the sports centre that will hold 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou. Since the stadium has been used for more than 10 years, it needs a renovation for a better condition to welcome visitors. We figured out some strategies for three main area to finish this target. By now most parts of the design have been constructed, receiving applauds from officers and local citizens. For the main entrance - the south gate area, the sight connection from streets to stadium was cut off by walls and shrubs. We tried to eliminate the difference of inside and outside with a disappearing fence, providing a chance for passerby to experience the passion of sports. Along the west side of the stadium, we planned an uneven landform, in order to create a continuos changing scenery and an open area for watching games or greeting. How to attract more visitors after Asian Games is another issue to support the daily running of Huangpu Stadium. So a sports park was brought into this project. We offered some types of sport courts and facilities that stadium doesn't contain and various groups of visitors would like to use. Also a lake with gracious scenery makes the park itself a perfect destination for tourists and local residents. 32

Service Area
Tree
This project is located just near a famous desert tourism spot - Xiangsha National Park. As this park becomes popluar in future, it is believed that more visitors will arrive here and the demand for a larger service area is on schedule. As I can notice from site, water is so scarce here and water recovery is not concerned by park administrators. In other words, the more visitors stay in park, the stronger enviroment impact it might bring here. I tried to find out a solution in balancing the relation between park development and ecology restoration. By chance, I managed to identify the mechanism of purification sewage with dunes and also realize that trees can be planted on dunes that are used for cleansing. In this way, these contrast factors are integrated into one procedure. Also, some construction techniques are introduced to create a better living conditions in such a extreme site. What's more, according to site context and the need for phasing development, a special plan system was designed to face the problem. With this system, the whole area can easily blend into the landform of site while not only benefitting the accomodating conditons but also helping resisiting desertification.

Increasing Need
Fight Against Sand
Not only more rooms are in need in park's future development, but also types of accomodation should be more abundant to meet visitor's need. Base on the forecast of visitors and market survey, I plan to construct a complete series of accomodating buildings in different phase.
The mechanism of dune forming is relevant with topography and height. So a terrain that can be effective to these two factors is designed and the terrain's shape is just like a reflection of dune. Need for different types of accomodation

D.P.S. Operation
The park was supplied by pumping water from river and undergroud. However, sewage from the park was directly let out to the river and water treatment facilities could not be found inside this area. Luckily, dune is a perfect medium in such a place for cleansing sewage. So a Dune Purification System (DPS) is designed to meet the drainge demand and supply purified water back to park.
D.P.S. system has its own standards for each part to operate in best conditions, just like the area of the dune, the depth of the pond and so on. And according to the forecast sewage data, we can figure out how many D.P.S. systems are needed to meet increasing sewage drainge. Purification Process Sewage 100m3 Scarce water resource

My Garden Private Garden Design
Close-up photo of featured wall
This project is my house garden located in a housing esate in Guangzhou. A unique and pleasant garden from others is what my families look forward to. The first problem we faced was that how to utilize the conditions into our design just like the limitation of garden area, or the gap of gound level between the front and rear part. We came up with some ideas to integrate the whole garden while creating different types of space.
My Garden Private Garden Design: Type: Family Work Date: 2007.06 Location: Guangzhou, China Area: 600 m2 Partner: My father Role: Concept Design - All Detail Design - Part
Also, the anticipation of new garden from our familiy members was a significant aspect in this project, and the proper divide of funtion brings all of us a great place for various occasions. At the same time we had to protect our privacy and construct a harmony scape with neighbour. The choose of material and detail design are what we need to highlight as well. We used the material left from housing decoration to creat a feature wall. We also tried to provide the garden with a changing scape in all seasons, that there would be different species of plants in different time of year accompanied with our enjoyment from sight to smell.

Design Solution
Sight and Boundary
How to create larger space feeling and interesting view plays an important role in this design. It used to be one kind of sight effect in garden while I tried to bring other element such as trees and shrubs to enrich the scape, and the reflection of water seemed to increase our sense about the garden dimension.
Function and Space
There should be a container for function or it would be confusing inside an area of which there is no feature. What I did was to introduce some changes into the garden. With these changes that divide the garden into various part, I can embody various function into different space to make the garden that everyone can enjoy.
1 The pool is set into cyan granite and surrounded by bamboos and shrubs which seperate outside from inside. 2 Openings lay on the right position of the wall and the traditional sculpture provides the focus of this scape. 3 Patio of the basement brings not only light and fresh air, but also a gracious view with potted plants.

Landscape Photography
Rather than snapping for record, photography is a refreshment for my heart and soul. The tranquility from the sheep flock, the mystery in the foggy valley, the spectacular sunset on the grassland, the greatness of nature shocks me deeply again and again. Every time I pressed down the shutter, my passion for enviroment and nature is aroused, the responsibility as a landscape designer comes up. 78

Humanity Photography
Travelling is far more than sightseeing, it is a process for learning others' history, exploring different culture. The more cities I have been to, the more I will contemplate the relation between nature and us human. How to live with the enviroment in harmony is what I always try to look for, and photos stand for my understanding to this question.
