Founder of ELEVATE ENTERTAINMENT 2019 MAN OF THE YEAR BrocBarton
Broc is one of a kind in the entertainment industry. He is more than DJ, at any event he is always willing to help in any way to make your event a success. His enthusiasm and knowledge brings you the best in Missouri. Broc sat down with Missouri Magazine to share his journey and the heart behind Elevate Entertainment. It is a pleasure to introduce Missouri's Best DJ's and Missouri Magazine's Man of the Year Broc Barton.
Missouri Magazine: Tell us a little about yourself and your journey.
Broc Bart on: I?ve been DJ ing now for 16 years! I usually get asked next how old I am: I?m 32. That?s right. I started when I was 16. :) I grew up in a small town in Southern Missouri, and I remember even then dreaming of making an impact on the world around me in some way. I would have never guessed it would come to be through my work creating powerful experiences at special events.
After some notable success in a previous organization, I started receiving requests to perform at weddings and events all over the Midwest and even nation-wide, which is somewhat unheard of in the mobile DJworld. In time, it became really clear to me that I was creating something powerful. So, I parted ways with that company, excited to start what would become Elevate Entertainment. I could have never dreamed that in a short 2.5 years, Elevate would be recognized as Missouri?s #1 DJservice. It?s been an incredible journey, and I feel blessed to be on it.
Missouri Magazine: Tell us your role at Elevate Entertainment.
Broc Bart on: My title is Owner and Lead DJ, but really, my role is keeping my team inspired about serving our fantastic clients, keeping our services the highest quality and cutting edge, and ensuring that our clients have absolutely incredible experiences with our company.
Missouri Magazine: Share a little about Elevate Entertainment with our readers.
Broc Bart on: Elevate is an entertainment company for special events and private functions. We specialize in providing custom DJ, Emcee, and Event hosting services for weddings, corporate events, and fundraisers. We also have DJ+ Band services, Custom lighting capabilities, and unique photo booth services through our sister brand, Selfie
That?s the business description, but here?s the thing: Elevate Entertainment is more than a DJcompany. It's a movement. It's a lifestyle. Every day we wake up thrilled to make people's day, one incredible experience at a time. We believe life is made up of these special moments and we're deeply passionate about bringing joy and laughter into people's lives through these moments. Because of this, we are relentlessly committed to the innovation and perfection of our craft. We simply won't
stop in our pursuit of excellence. Our clients and our fans deserve it.

Missouri Magazine: What do you love most about living in Missouri?
Broc Bart on: Man, people here are just so wonderful. They? re so kindhearted and generally concerned about the community around them. So many people here genuinely care for their neighbor and would give the shirt off their back to help someone. You can? t find that everywhere. It?s really somewhat unique to the Midwest!

Missouri Magazine:What are your family?s favorite activities?
Broc Bart on: If it involves adventure, we? re in! We enjoy a good hike or a day at the lake. We? re also big travel buffs, so we love getting out to discover everything that?s out there!
Missouri Magazine: Where can someone find you are not at work?
Broc Bart on: Ha! My team would laugh at this. If I?m not DJ ing an event, I?m usually in my office working away. I probably work a bit too much, but hey, I love what I do. It doesn? t feel like work! If I?m not doing those things, I?m probably heading out of town for some travel! :)
Missouri Magazine: What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Broc Bart on: It could be easy to put some accolade here, but honestly, there is nothing more rewarding than having built an organization that makes an incredibly positive impact in the lives of the people with whom we work. I fall asleep at night
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/211103034746-7e694d9f3a505a186276b0133b601eb6/v1/d29e5d3fbf8247dbb758ac388ca91d70.jpeg?width=720&quality=85%2C50)
with a smile on my face knowing we? re doing just that.
Missouri Magazine: Do you have a favorite local charity?
Broc Bart on: Yep! Community Partnership of the Ozarks! I mean, there are so many, but I get to work closely with them on many of their projects, and it?s really amazing how hard they work to improve their local communities.
Missouri Magazine: What are some of your local favorite places?
Broc Bart on: The lake is a favorite for a quick getaway. :) All of Springfield?s ridiculously awesome coffee shops (where you can often find me working). Seriously, we compete with Seattle on coffee-awesomeness. I?m also partial to some of Springfield?s famed local restaurants. A few favorites include: J imm?s Steakhouse, Wheelhouse Mexican/Thai Street Fare, and Salvatore?s Fresh Ristorante.

Missouri Magazine: How did the name of your business originate?
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/211103034746-7e694d9f3a505a186276b0133b601eb6/v1/852ce3d0873fe1c9710ae613a38f534d.jpeg?width=720&quality=85%2C50)
what we do is take things to the next level, both at our events and in our quality of service. We take simple events and elevatethem to incredible experiences. And just like that, I knew what we had to be called--Elevate Entertainment.
Missouri Magazine: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Broc Bart on: I actually somewhat fell into this! I know it?s crazy. When I turned 16 in the small town where I grew up, you really only had two jobs to choose from: sacking groceries at the local grocery or flipping burgers at the local McD?s. There isn? t anything wrong with either of those opportunities, but I just found myself wanting something more meaningful and unique. I discovered a country music radio station outside of my hometown was looking for a late night DJ. I applied and got the job!
I eventually worked up to the Saturday Afternoon show there and it was a great learning experience. But there was always something that left me slightly unsatisfied. Looking back, I realize it was because Radio DJ ing can sometimes be very lonely. You are mostly by yourself in room with your mic and your music. I?m very extroverted and I love being with people! Somewhere around age 18 or 19, I learned about Events DJ ing and fell in love! Best of both worlds! The rest, as they say, is history. :) Missouri Magazine: How long have you lived in Missouri?
Broc Bart on: All of my life, really!
Missouri Magazine: What has kept you here?
Broc Bart on: I think it?s been various reasons at various points in my life. At some point it was for College (Go Mizzou!), then it was for my Masters program (AGTS), then it was for this incredible woman I somehow convinced to be my wife. Now it?s because of this incredible company that has grown beyond anything I could have imagined: Elevate Entertainment.
Missouri Magazine: What is something on your bucket list?
Broc Bart on: Ha ha. Everything! One of my life mottos is to live my life with ?heart wide open.?I?m also especially a sucker for really unique experiences. I got to have an Italian Nonna (grandma) teach me how to make homemade pasta the old-world Italian way in her small little flat in Polambara Sabina, Italy. She didn? t speak a lick of English. We spent all afternoon mixing, rolling, and drying pasta, laughing and working through our language barrier. Afterwards, we enjoyed the fruits of our labor (or should I say, the ?pasta?of our labor). Still one of my all-time favorite memories.
Missouri Magazine: What is something interesting that most people don? t know about you?
knowledge. I really enjoy documentaries and reading about history and other random information. I?m weird, I know.
Missouri Magazine: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
Broc Bart on: Easy. Still pursuing ways that I can leave an incredible, positive impact in people?s lives. I still have a few plans up my sleeve. :)
Missouri Magazine: Tell us about your day getting ready for an event with Elevate Entertainment.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/211103034746-7e694d9f3a505a186276b0133b601eb6/v1/3f9e7576b97359ec31cda48d155bd62b.jpeg?width=720&quality=85%2C50)
Broc Bart on: I always try to get a good night of rest, then I?m protective of my mornings before an event. I want to be able to be focused and relaxed so I can keep my attention fully on the event experience. I? ll often double check my show details and make sure I have everything prepared, grab a good breakfast, then load up to go to the event.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/211103034746-7e694d9f3a505a186276b0133b601eb6/v1/c31a7775cab06f04260bd0d64a3c830b.jpeg?width=720&quality=85%2C50)
One of my favorite parts: on my drive to the event, I make it a point to listen to music that inspires me. It helps me get in the right place to inspire others. :) Then, between load up, drive time, set up, performance, tear down, and load out, it?s completely common for me to work 12 hours on an event day.
Missouri Magazine: What are your steps for success?
Broc Bart on: Three things: Value people over profits. Value connection over costs. And the most challenging of the three--Value yourself appropriately.
Missouri Magazine: Where does your inspiration come from?
Broc Bart on: I stay constantly inspired by the message of the Bible. It?s been life-changing for me to understand that I am deeply loved and valuable beyond comprehension.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/211103034746-7e694d9f3a505a186276b0133b601eb6/v1/e0f44ed99484e2650a83f7d29aa2d680.jpeg?width=720&quality=85%2C50)
I also get really inspired when I ?discover? new things. I use that word loosely to describe anytime I essentially learn or experience something new. Whether it?s discovering some ancient city, a new culture, a new way of thinking, or just a new person, all of these things keep me inspired. I am constantly aware of the fact that there is more to discover.
As pertains to Elevate, the same is true. I never thought in a million years Elevate would become Missouri?s #1 DJcompany in just over 2 years. I?m excited to continue discovering what Elevate can become and how it can continue to be a powerful experience for the tens of thousands of people we encounter every year.

Missouri Magazine: What is your favorite part about your job?
Broc Bart on: Getting to make a positive impact.
Missouri Magazine: What is your favorite quote?
my favorite is, ?It?s kind of fun to do the impossible.?- Walt Disney
Missouri Magazine: You were voted by Missouri Magazine readers as Missouri's Best DJ. Congratulations again! What does it mean to you winning Missouri's Best and being the BEST in Missouri?
Broc Bart on: Oh man. What an honor! It?s truly overwhelming the amount of support I?ve experienced, the fans who voted over and over, and those who believed in me more than I believed in myself. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing clients, partners, and community. Thank you to everyone who has shown their support along this journey!
And a special thank you to my incredible team who works tirelessly to make sure our clients are given the best experience possible. They brought home this trophy.
Missouri Magazine: What is ahead for Elevate Entertainment?
Broc Bart on: We launch two new brands and four new services this year. Keep on the lookout. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@ElevateDJs) to be the first to know. Missouri Magazine: If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice what would it be?
Broc Bart on: ?Go for it! It?s harder to fail than you think.?I think I spent a good portion of my early- to mid-20?s afraid of starting my own business. Now I only wish I had started sooner. It took me a long time to figure out that failure at a task or goal does not mean that I?m a failure as a person. It?s only a data point for doing it better. I wish I had known this long ago so I would have taken this leap of faith sooner.
Missouri Magazine: Anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Broc Bart on: Thank you again for voting Elevate Entertainment as Missouri?s #1 DJCompany! Feel free to follow us on your favorite socials (@ElevateDJs). Find out more about Elevate Entertainment at www.elevateentertainment.com

Ashlee Martin calls herself a "Sedalia lifer" , planning on living in Sedalia until retirement and then she will end up somewhere that has water in her backyard. With over 10 years in the insurance business, this gave her experience in real estate and customer service.
Ashlee's true passions are watching her blended family (5 kids!), Dylan, Ali, Zoe, Birkli and Rylee, grow up, along with spending time with her husband, Jason Martin. They have quite the divided house and it gets pretty tense in the spring MLB season. Ashlee is an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Jason stays true to the KCRoyals. Both of them love watching anything baseball, taking rides on their Harley and running around nonstop at the kid?s events.
Ashlee is active in Sedalia After Hours Optimist Club, Parkview Elementary PTA, on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of West Central Missouri and anything involving the community youth. Ashlee has been a Realtor® since 2014 and in 2017, she became a co-owner of RE/MAXof Sedalia. Also, in 2017, she graduated from the MO Realtor® Leadership Academy which is a huge accomplishment for Missouri Realtors®! Just this year, Ashlee obtained her broker?s license and is ready to see how big of a success 2019 will be.
One of Ashlee's passions in life is helping making people's dreams come true.......Buying or Selling Homes!
