Continuing Education at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University Spring + Summer 2013 Courses Audio | Multimedia | Photography | Video | Writing | Special Topics The Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University (CDS) offers a wide range of short courses, institutes, and workshops for adults interested in the documentary arts—to start a project or refine an ongoing one. The courses, available through flexible admission with reasonable fees, provide instruction in photography, film and video, audio, writing, and other creative media, and such topics as documentary fieldwork, traditions, techniques, and the ethics involved in creating and presenting original work. “I came to the Center for Documentary Studies with a hunger for stories and a lot of ideas. I jumped right in, taking four classes in one semester. . . . I’ve grown so much as a documentarian by learning from fellow students, and because of CDS, I’ve found friends and partners for new projects. Documentary work is so much more than having the right equipment or the right story. It’s also having a community that both challenges and supports you—and CDS is an incredible place for that.”—Jenny Morgan
