CHESAPEAKE CITY, MD - It was a slow start for the Bo Manor Eagles, but they produced a convincing win over county rival Elkton on Wednesday evening for the Eagles’ home opener. In their lone match against the Elks this year, Bo Manor won in straight sets 2517, 25-13, 25-9, bouncing back from a tough loss to the Fallston Cougars just a few days prior.
Securing the first win of the season didn’t come easy for the Eagles and Elkton was certainly not going down without a fight.
Up early in the first set, Elkton capitalized on opponent errors by utilizing their strong servers, including junior Jessica Keithley who stunned the defense and rattled off two aces in a row, putting the Elks up 8-5. “We weren’t really expecting to get many points so the fact that we were up on Bo for a bit was exciting” Elkton captain Sophie Camphausen remarked. At one point, the Elks’ defense fought off three attacks in a row from Bo Manor’s outside hitter Rylee Lenz before succumbing to a passing continued on B-2
