I'm beginning to learn game programming with Unity and purchased this book after trying out some online tutorials. While I found online tutorials to be a great way to get started, learning through this book was a drastically more efficient for me - the instructions are clear and detailed, and allowed me to easily expand upon the material being taught. After just a few chapters, I managed to build a playable small first person shooter game. The book teaches advanced scripting in a way that is challenging, but still easy to follow through. It starts from the very basics, but also teaches advanced topics such as connecting your game to the network or deploying the game on a phone.
