COURSE LEVELS Core Courses: Courses marked as Core Courses encompass the essential knowledge necessary in order to undertake CEDIA Certification. The courses relevant to each certification level are described in the individual certification curriculum. These courses make up the knowledge-base that CEDIA considers essential for an individual working within the residential custom integration market. 100 Level Courses: Courses marked as 100 level introduce concepts and discussions where there is no prior knowledge required about the subject being taught. These courses are not necessarily ‘easy’ but discuss a subject from first principles. They are knowledge-based and designed to teach fundamentals necessary to perform as a technician. 200 Level Courses: Courses marked as 200 level discuss subjects to a more advanced level. They do not teach basic principles and are designed to build upon existing knowledge. 300 Level Courses: Courses marked as 300 level introduce advanced design concepts. They require that participants already have a good level of knowledge underpinning the subject being taught. These courses are not suitable as introductions to a subject area and are mostly targeted toward design. 400 Level Courses: Courses marked as 400 are advanced courses and are targeted at experienced candidates. Courses at this level teach the syntheses of existing and new knowledge that enable candidates to master a subject area.
Seminar Courses These are education courses outside the CEDIA Education curriculum. They often allow the instructor to relate personal experiences, through ideas and options with students. CEDIA Education is not responsible for the content or its delivery in the seminar offerings; the instructors hold that responsibility.

HDMI SYSTEM DESIGN AND APPLICATION Code: EST070 Level: Seminar Time: Wednesday 2.30pm – 4.00pm Presenter: James Chen - CCI Organisation: Kordz CEU Value: 0.75
HDMI is ubiquitous in today’s market place with 100% adoption on AV devices, and the only choice for formats such as stereoscopic 3D and digital 1080p. While HDMI has become a far more reliable singlecable solution for pairing a couple of consumer products, there still exist challenges when implementing more complex systems, particularly custom whole-home distributed video systems using HDMI. Careful system design and interoperability testing is required before system installation, when connecting multiple displays, spanning long distance with passive cables or active extenders, and incorporating HDMI matrix switches. We will also discuss the troubleshooting aspects of HDMI.
