hi. Welcome to the world of Canadian Travel Design; Canada at its Best! With this carefully designed 2008 brochure, we hope that we can demonstrate the value to you of doing business with us. With our hand picked products and creative packages, we will be able to offer your customers that typical authentic Canadian experience they are looking for. Next to our products you will find more information about West Canada as a destination and simple guidelines how to do business with us. Because we believe that when we can make your life much easier, you will be more effective in selling our products. That’s why we are convinced that ‘the magic is in the process’. As a team, we also realize that tourism puts some extra pressure on our environment and we have therefore tried to find ‘greener’ ways of doing business. In stead of printing our brochure, we have chosen to develop this new e-brochure, that eliminates all the paper and ink that is needed for the print. We hope you like it. Furthermore we have adopted Hertz‘s more fuel efficient ‘Green Collection’ of cars in our selfdrive packages and selected some of the the most unique green wilderness lodges. Last but not least, we want you to know that all of our customized customer travel packages are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled wood fibre. No new trees have been cut to produce this paper. Thank you for your continuous support and if there is anything we can do for you, please let us know, because we’re only a phone call away and this is the value of a true partnership. Sincerely, Dirk Terpstra Partner & Director of Marketing & Sales

Our goal is to make you the specialist. Some examples are; • Car rental and motorhome rental packages • Circle routes, exploring West Canada, with the focus on special interest • A large database of authentic cabins, lodges, B&B’s and Country Inns in the most scenic locations (some you will find in this brochure) • Attractive modules to add-on, like the Rocky Mountaineer train or unique adventures • Winter adventures, incl. heliskiing, etc.

TRUE PARTNERSHIP We believe in the importance of building strong relationships with our travel partners, especially in today's fast world, as travel is all about people.

creative travel KEEP EXPLORING... As Canadian Travel Design does not promote standard travel packages, we allow ourselves a lot of freedom. The freedom to be creative! We also customize itineraries for individuals, families, groups and incentive travel. Offer your customers the ultimate natural experience in the Purcell Mountain Lodge near Golden, the Aurum Lodge between Banff and Jasper and the Strathcona Park Lodge on Central Vancouver Island. AURUM LODGE

Surrounded by the unspoiled wilderness of the Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park, it is an oasis of comfort in the midst of some of North America’s most rugged and spectacular mountain scenery. Despite the remote location, however, the lodge is anything but rustic: a nearby mountain stream provides ample electricity and crystal-clear drinking water, central heating sends warm air throughout the building, and hot showers are always available to soothe away your aches and pains. There’s even a traditional wood-fired cedar sauna for those who wish to relax after a day in the mountains. The 10 private bedrooms overlook the 360degree views of the Canadian Rockies, with nothing but wilderness as far as the eye can see.

The lodge is situated in the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains in the Province of Alberta, close to Banff National Park and is a unique ecotourism accommodation facility, which was planned, built and is operated with minimal environmental impact. Aurum Lodge is a wilderness retreat for nature lovers, who wish to unwind in a pristine setting or engage in low-impact outdoor activities in the region. The lodge has guestrooms – all with private baths – and a choice of B & B or halfboard arrangement.

Rather than just visit a Rocky Mountain glacier, you’ll explore its function with naturalists who will take you deep within a crevasse. And, instead of attending a show at the Montreal jazz festival, you’ll meet local musicians and learn what makes the scene happen. These are more than adventures, they are experiences that will enrich the way you understand the word. WHO WE KNOW You'll join leading scholars who will share their knowledge to enhance your experience. Explore Canada with leading naturalists and 30

Heliskiing in British Columbia

- All gourmet meals and snacks

Explore the enormous heliskiing and heli boarding options from remote wilderness lodges in a breathtaking alpine landscape in West Canada. We have an exclusive arrangement with TLH Heliskiing and Last Frontier Heliskiing, who offer the best experiences ever and we’ll offer you interesting commissions.

- Use of powder skis and avalanche tranceivers.

THE EXPERIENCE Many heli-skiing runs start on the high alpine glaciers and end well below tree line, deep in the valley bottoms. The glaciers and alpine bowls of our heliskiing tenure seem to go on forever. Rip turns through deep blankets of powder surrounded by jagged and awe inspiring peaks. For many skiers, tree skiing is the essence of heliskiing. The treed-terrain is challenging and the deep snow lies protected from the elements amongst the spectacular old growth forests. SNOWFALL The average annual snowfall at 1,800 meters is approximately 14 to 18 meters which leaves us with an average base of 3 to 4 meters of snow on the ground. It's not unusual to find over 5 meters of snow at higher elevations on the glaciers.

LODGES Tucked away in the South Chilcotin Mountains lies the largest log lodge in the West. Nestled on the shores of Tyaughton Lake with views of snowcovered peaks up to 9,000 feet. Tyax Lodge (TLH) will be your remote mountain home while enjoying some heli-happiness with us. Located at 600 meters and once a basic service station for travellers on their way to the Alaska and 37
