The louvered skin performs both environmentally and aesthetically, adjusting during the day to block incident solar radiation and at night as an ever changing Hollywood attraction.

STRIATED PAVILION UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DR. DAVID GERBER FALL 2011

This pavilion is a study of horizontal louvers and their possibilities as performative architecture. The vertical spacing and depth of the louvers is determined by solar orientation in order to maximize or minimize the effects solar heat gain. The louvers twist at particular moments, lapping upon each other to create a shear wall or block wind where necessary.

MUSEUM BODY of the

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PROF. GAIL BORDEN SUMMER 2011

Nestled amongst the aging fig trees of Los Angeles' Exposition Park, the Museum of the Body (MOB) has a mission to celebrate and preserve art, artifacts, and technologies relating to the human body. As visitors move through the building they will descend beneath the earth and also move within the canopy of the trees forcing upon their own bodies an awareness of their relationship to this physical world.
