The strength in a breeding program is best measured by the quality of the progeny it produces. The breeding programs of the sponsoring farms have produced many of the Futurity Herdsire of the Year and AOBA Level 4 & 5 Get of Sire winners in recent years. Dear Friends, Welcome to the 2010 Parade of Champions Alpaca Auction! This is always one of the most fun and exciting events of the year, and the POC team has put together another fantastic weekend, packed with great speakers and another extraordinary sale line-up. While there may be a few things about the current economy and our own alpaca market that have us all scratching our heads, one fact that is readily observable in the stock market, real estate market and our own alpaca market is that QUALITY is more important than ever. Already in 2010 we have seen the price of top quality alpacas on the rise over 2009 prices. It is our sincere belief that you will find offered in this auction some of the finest alpaca breeding stock available today. This is the segment of the market that is on the rise, and there has never been a better, or more important time to acquire the top quality genetics being offered in the 2010 Parade of Champions. All of the participating farms have proven themselves to be industry leaders in the show ring and auction arena. Their consistent success over time is a tribute to their vision and knowledge of alpaca breeding. Their commitment to the long term, and depth of quality genetics can put your breeding program steps ahead of the crowd. Whether you are in search of a great male or a select female, suri or huacaya, if your primary criterion is unsurpassed quality, this sale has an alpaca for you. Along with the fabulous selection of alpacas, the Parade of Champions Sale has also become well known for cutting edge seminars, terrific hospitality, and a sale setting that is truly one of Oregon¹s scenic wonders. So, whether you are in search of knowledge, quality genetics, or just a weekend of fun with fellow alpaca enthusiasts, we encourage you to join us for this fantastic event. We look forward to seeing you there! Sincerely, Tim & Teresa Vincent Tom & Nancy Simmons Celebrity Alpaca Sales

PACIFIC CREST ACCOYO AMERICA THE MARK OF QUALITY The most important decision you will make upon entering the alpaca industry – one that will affect your success in the alpaca industry for years to come – is where you purchase your foundation stock of alpacas. This is important for three reasons – Quality, Support, and Selection.
Quality At Accoyo America, we have the highest quality breeding stock available to maximize the return on your investment. The seed doesn't fall far from the tree! In any breeding stock industry, a relatively small percentage of the male offspring are retained for stud service. The alpaca breeder with top breeding stock is often able to sell his/her male crias for the same (or higher) price than the female crias, thereby nearly doubling the investment return. When shopping for your first alpacas, it's important to look at the breeder's sale prices for their male offspring. This will give you a good idea of the marketability of their alpacas in general. At Pacific Crest, the sale price of our males frequently exceeds that of our female offspring. Many visitors to the ranch marvel at the uniform quality of Pacific Crest stock. Many existing breeders come to upgrade their own stock by purchasing males from us. Much of the reason for this uniformity is due to the fact that most of our breeding stock is from Estancia Accoyo in Macusani, Peru. The late Don Julio Barreda practiced the most rigid selective breeding of alpacas in all of South America. This selective family line breeding produced a herd famous for its uniform density and fineness. Our Accoyo-bred offspring reflect Senor Barreda's fine breeding program, and we're extremely proud of them.
Support Our customers' success is our own. Nothing gives us more pleasure in this business than seeing our customers succeed in their financial and lifestyle investment in alpacas. We strive to build a close relationship with our buyers for two reasons. First, we want to ensure that our alpacas end up in good homes. Second, we want to ensure that our customers' transition to their new lifestyle is as smooth as possible, and that they feel secure in their new lifestyle and investment decision. We are always available to answer questions regarding nutrition, veterinary care and breeding. We're prepared to assist with marketing, including sales advice and brokering services. We also transport customers’ alpacas to shows and assist in showing them whenever possible as a marketing tool.
Selection With more than 200 alpacas on the farm in a full spectrum of colors, you are guaranteed to find one you love! With both huacayas and suri’s at Pacific Crest, one-stop shopping is readily available. Accoyo America has the largest selection of full blood Accoyo offspring for sale in North America. We look forward to your visit and your attendance at the Parade of Champions Auction Friday, July 2 through Sunday, July 4, 2010!

Breeding alpacas is a family business for Alpacas de la Patagonia. With alpaca ranches in both North and South America, we take pride in merging the distinct animal husbandry techniques and breeding strategies of the two hemispheres. A couple of years ago we moved down the road. We remain on Camano Island – an hour’s drive north of Seattle, but have moved to a larger acreage located at Port Susan. On occasion we can now see whales from our alpaca fields! A visit to our 200-acre farm reveals several hundred huacayas and suris grazing the lush, green pastures. We are well-known for putting some of our best alpacas up for auction . This year is no exception. All alpacas sell with our legendary customer support and open females sell with a free breeding to the Patagonia herdsire of Buyer’s choice. Purchase of an alpaca from Patagonia makes the Buyer eligible to use any of the Patagonia herdsires (including those herdsires which are restricted) to breed any of their females to. We are looking forward to spending the July 4th weekend with you.

Accoyo America PCA Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus Nautilus is an offspring of Hemingway and our top B-line Accoyo female, Sicuani. Both he and his fullsister, Sequin, have won the coveted AOBA White Color Championship. He has had the finest-crimped fleece we have seen, with microbundling and long staple length. 2007 Shear Weight was 9.2 pounds. Age 1 fleece values were AFD 17.8 microns, SD 3.7 microns, CV 20.5%, % over 30 0.8%. Nautilus has become well-known for the fine-crimp, low micron fleece of his offspring. He gained national prominence the year when his donated breeding sold for $19,000, eclipsing the previous record set by El Nino. Accoyo America Jason A son of Accoyo Endurance and Black Female AOBA Color Champion Phoenicia, Jason has won the Brown AOBA National Color Championship in both 2006 and 2007. It is rare to combine his exquisite crimp and character, and density with a deep red brown fleece. His presence and conformation are striking, and his first crias are due in early 2008. Fleece values at age 2 were AFD 22.7 microns, SD 3.8 microns, CV 16.7%, % over 30 2.9%. Accoyo America Denali Denali is a product of the most reliable cross in our breeding program—El Nino over Stefani. Stefani is the daughter of the renowned Sicuani and an unknown (to us) herdsire in the Accoyo Estancia breeding program—but thought to be Rasputin. He’s similar in phenotype to his older full brother Endeavor, with a powerful frame, heavy shear weight (12+ pounds), long staple and fine crimp style. Accoyo America Polaris Polaris is perhaps our densest, most uniform herdsire. A full-Accoyo son of El Nino and AAA Futurity Color Champion Pussywillow, he is a fusion of Caligula, Auzengate, and an Accoyo dam we believe to be of the same lineage as Legacy (Pucara) with a striking head and profile and a fleece described by a judge as “the best he’s ever seen.” He’s in heavy use on our stud row. Fleece analysis at age 1: AFD 17.6 microns, SD 3.6 microns, CV 20.5%, % over 30 0.6%. 2007 Shear weight was 12.4 pounds total, 6.8 blanket. Herdsires PCA Accoyo El Nino (deceased) Accoyo El Nino was considered by many to be the premier full-Accoyo US herdsire. A son of the late Accoyo Caligula and our top female Accoyo Sunipani, he had a donated breeding auctioned for $18,000 last year at AOBA. Of the 8 first and second place alpacas competing for the 2006 Futurity White Male Championship, 4 were El Nino sons, while the White Female Champion and Light Male Champions were also El Nino offspring. At the AOBA 2007 National Show, the Light Male Champion, and both White Male and Female Reserve Champions were produced by him. Follicle sampling by Dr. Jim Watts of Australia revealed a density of 89.2 follicles per square millimeter with an S/P ratio of 12.5. 2007 shear weight was 10.6 pounds total with a 6.0 pounds blanket. He placed first in the Get of Sire in AOBA 2004 & 2007 and MAPACA 2006 and AWE 2007. He was Futurity Herdsire of the Year in 2005 and Reserve in 2006.
Accoyo America Navigator A son of Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus and AOBA Brown Color Champion Mulberry, Navigator has transferred the fineness, fine crimp and long staple length of Nautilus to a dark fawn fleece. He is a strong breeder, with perfect conformation and true-to-type head. Fleece values at age 2: AFD 22.2 microns, SD 4.0 microns, CV 18.0%, % over 30 3.7%. Accoyo America Ulysses Ulysses is a full-Accoyo El Nino son notable for his brilliant, fine-crimped, independently bundled and uniform fleece. It was clear from his early days that he had a unique combination of density and fineness on a structurally sound, harmonically-balanced frame. Silver Ingot bred to Crescent Moon’s Rayo del Sol produced the striking young alpaca before you, Crescent Moon’s Raya de Plata. Extreme beauty and substance are very accurate terms to use when describing Raya de Plata. These are traits very true to her heritage on both sides of the family tree so there are no surprises here. When you get a look at her fleece, you will experience very good density and staple length combining with good relative fineness and high reflective qualities. We were able to get Raya Plata into the show ring and the judges liked her as well. Because she is related to both Adonnis and Rayo, they probably won’t be a consideration for Raya’s first breeding. No worries, we have you (and her) covered here. For her first pairing it will be real easy for us to recommend Mr. Roosevelt, and we do. BUT, her mother (Silver Ingot) just gave birth to our first Gear Jammer cria and considering how that went……Let’s just say that you ought to consider the new kid on the block!

El Nino herdsires are valuable enough, but this combination of El Nino, Accoyo Sicuani, and an unknown Accoyo male said to be Accoyo Rasputin. The value of this line is the combination of fineness and fine crimp of the Accoyo “B” line with the high density and crimp definition of the Accoyo “A” line of Caligula and Sunipani. All of these siblings have long, independent staples with a fine crimp style and heavy shear weights. Endeavor’s 2010 shear weight was 13.6 pounds total and a blanket weight of 6.1 pounds.

We recognized that this process would take a few years and that we would have to sell some of those offspring along the way. The breeding selection has been easy, but the releasing of these incredible critters is a little more difficult. We offer you Crescent Moon’s Chapaca, a dark fawn/light brown daughter of Shiftin Gears and The Snickers. The Snickers is a true black female with an enormous production record. Her first and most notable cria to date is Crescent Moon’s Pinnacle, the 2002 AOBA National Show Brown Male Champion, now owned by the very good folks at La Buena Vida Alpacas and Final Frontier Alpacas. With multiple daughters in the herd from Snickers, it is fitting to release her most recent gem here at the Parade of Champions. Chapaca (named after her grand dam) reveals big fleece of abundant architecture, excellent staple development and significant length. Her lovely head is reminiscent of both of her grand dams and so is her sweet temperament. Chapaca sells with a breeding to any CMR herdsire. Oh boy, will this be fun! What is your goal here? Male Huacaya ◆ DOB: 6/9/07 Color: Bay Black ◆ ARI# 30842595 SIRE: 4PERUVIAN LEGACY 6016 DAM: MA SELASIA We believe Sixtus to be a One and Only! To the best of our knowledge, Sixtus is the ONLY full Peruvian Black offspring that Legacy ever sired. Combine that with the fact that he is a standout black and you have something extraordinary here. Follow me on this one … Sixtus is a son of the great Legacy as we have already disclosed. His dam, Selasia (bay black), is a direct daughter of Kenamori Gold, who was very highly regarded by the importers and has spent most, if not all, of his career on the east coast. (Kenamori Gold’s rating by the importers was a 10.) We have owned Selasia for a number of years now and her production record is outstanding. Her first cria for us, Black Diamonds by Aladdin (owned by Front Range and Heatherbrook Alpacas), was a Reserve Champion at the Futurity (black females) along with her many other titles. By his show record, you can see that Sixtus and his maternal sister each shared a knack for the show ring. Put your hands on him and you will understand why. Sixtus is fine and dense and architecture fills his fleece throughout. His beautiful fleece is held up by a frame of captivating strength and machismo which exhibits perfect balance and proportions along with monstrous bone density. How about we say it like this … “We’d like all of our studs to be built like Sixtus!” This is your chance to purchase a very unique alpaca with gigantic marketing clout behind him and equally impressive herd improvement tools locked in his DNA. What more could you want from your studs than to be an instant business plan?

We’ve used her photo on the front of our 2010 calendar, and in spite of her young age, she’s never placed lower than First in 4 large shows—CABA, AWE, Futurity, AOBA National — and has won Reserve White Champion at AWE and AOBA.

Castalina is a component of that excitement. A well grown and thick female, she expresses commanding presence and sizeable bone density. Her fleece is exceedingly soft to the touch and glistens under the light as it simultaneously reveals good density and advanced lock structure for a black. We got her out into the show ring this year and she did quite well, always finishing toward the top of her class. Her breeding will be fun to decide. Bred Female Huacaya ◆ DOB: 5/17/03 Color: Classic Dark Silver Grey ◆ ARI# 852077 SIRE: JERICHO 69I
DAM: SNOWMASS HALO
Service Sire: Kirwin ◆ Due Date: 8/10/10 We like to refer to her as Espy and so that is what we will do here. Espy came to us from the Snowmass program some years ago in the transaction that brought us Accoyo Elite, Chaccu and Black n Gold. ( Black n Gold is now owned by our wonderful friends, Jeanette and James Campbell at Alpacas of Willowbrook Farm.) We have always enjoyed the way that Espy has graced our pastures and she has done very well for us, leaving us with two daughters here at the “Moon.” Espy’s sire is the black Canadian import made famous by the Skinners: Jericho 69I. Her dam is a Snowmass Casanova daughter, named Halo, who still breeds with us here today. Espy is bred to our premier son of Rayo del Sol, mega champion and sire of champions, Kirwin. She is due very soon with what we expect will be a stunning cria. So this lot will offer you a champion quality, gray female bred to a mega champion sire. But, we are going to make it even better. We’ll take Espy back to the ranch with us and rebreed her after she has her cria. You’ll have your choice of Crescent Moon males to choose from for this next breeding, or you may choose Crescent Moon’s Propel, owned by the good people and our very good friends at Zumbador Alpacas, Kenn and Laurie Hugos. Among his many other distinctions, Propel is twice a Champion/Reserve Champion at the National Show. His beautifully crimped and dense light rose gray fleece is a perfect match for Espy and the thought of that pairing just makes us giddy. Espy and her two offspring are all yours; all you have to do is raise your hand.

Follow me: Poppy is the dam of Rayo del Sol and is also the dam of Morning Glory. Morning Glory is the dam of Carlessa, but she is also a daughter of Kryptonite, who is a son of Legacy. Carlessa’s sire is Copenhagen, a son of the great Legacy daughter, Crescent Moon’s Chocolate Decadence, and Crescent Moon’s Valentino whose blood runs deep throughout the Crescent Moon herd. Clear as mud? Think of it this way….Carlessa is the product of very calculated breeding and phenomenal genetics. So, now you get to extend that one generation further. Who will her date be with? That is one of the reasons that she is such a standout alpaca. Just try and convince us that you don’t receive Accoyo inspiration from those histogram numbers! Along with her outstanding fineness and uniformity, Leilani also has excellent density. When you part her fleece, you will experience an eye-popping expression of crimp and dramatic brightness. We never showed Leilani because of a fawn spot on her left side; however, it is because of that fawn spot that we have pairing options for you that are nothing short of incredible. With your purchase, Leilani can be bred to any of our Crescent Moon Ranch studs and that includes Crescent Moon’s Accoyo Nobility. Leilani is, however, related to Nobility, so if you are uncomfortable with that pairing, you may choose Senor Accoyo Caliente. Both of these fellows are fawn full Accoyo and each is simply stunning. Crescent Moon’s Josiah is a full Accoyo Fawn Legacy son. That statement speaks volumes to us and hopefully to you as well. His dam, Calla Lille, is a Camilio daughter who has had an extraordinary impact on our breeding program. We have retained two of her daughters as part of our foundation herd here and we also have two of her grandsons as herdsires. Josiah’s heritage makes him an A Line male, but his fleece looks more like a cross between the A and B Lines combined. His outstanding fineness and brightness (B Line) combine for exceptional handle, while his density and expressive fleece character lend themselves more toward the A Line fleeces. Either way, his is a beautiful fleece, a Legacy fleece; and Josiah is certain to make a significant impact wherever he ends up breeding. We are proud to offer Josiah for your consideration. Let him transform your herd as his heritage has done for ours.

Bertina’s sire, Vic Jr’s Hemiaccoyo Paladin, has the fleece characteristics that caused an international fleece judge to proclaim, “This is where the future of the alpaca industry needs to be heading.” Out of a study involving 261 alpacas in the U.S., Paladin’s fleece was the finest at 13.8 AFD and had the highest curvature of 68. Still in the early stages of his breeding career, Paladin’s offspring have inherited his fleece characteristics. Bertina is the eldest of only one of three female Paladin offspring at this time, with the remaining two born in 2009 and 2010, making her a very limited edition, indeed. We had planned to keep her in our breeding program, but are honored that we have two entries in the Parade of Champions auction and we want to put in a “shining” example of what Paladin has produced. Bertina’s dam is a dark fawn and was a winner in her show career, being described by a halter judge as being one of the best colored huacayas he had seen in the U.S. Bertina is just at breeding age, and depending upon the male selected, will definitely have the potential to throw color, if that is what is desired. Lot 34 Crescent Moon’s Sabra Female Huacaya ◆ DOB: 7/23/09 Color: Bay Black ◆ ARI# 31738354 SIRE: CRESCENT MOON’S NITRO DAM: CRESCENT MOON’S MISS BANGLES Every year there are a few that we put into this sale that make me squirm a bit, and I mean that in a good way. Sabra is just such a female. She is boxy….very boxy, and we love that here. Her face is adorable. Her legs are massive and her coverage is extreme. To say it plainly….”She is candy to the eye!” Her fleece is very well designed and incorporates excellent brightness, handle and density. There is no surprise here, as she is a daughter of Nitro and Miss Bangles. Bangles is a daughter of the great Silver Charm, a phenom of a gray male owned by our friends at Silver Lining Alpacas, Jan and Gary Middleton. If you ever heard any of our judges discuss, in their oral reasons, traits that the Silver Charm kids convey, one of the most prominent attributes they would speak of is the exceptional luster and handle of those cria. We think you can see that here in Sabra. Sabra sells with a breeding, and you’ll ponder long and hard about this one. For us, we would go with Lunar Breeze or Adonnis. However, if you want to consider a breeding to Snowmass Nova’s Impact, then we can make that happen. We have worked out a scenario with our incredible friends at Kama’aina Alpacas, Beth and Zach Correa. If you choose to go to Nova’s Impact, they will handle Sabra’s first pairing. Imagine crossing the Crescent Moon’s Kryptonite and Snowmass Nova lines. If you breed black alpacas, then tell us if that is not tempting!

We have been saying it for years, and there is no surprise here because Valentino produces great looking cria. Along with all of that beauty, you will find the DNA and the fiber that you would expect. Her mother is a Legacy daughter who did very well in the show ring for us and Vianca’s fiber retains all of the great qualities that have made Legacy and Valentino so important to our breeding program at CMR. Brightness, fineness, crimp and density uniformally run through her golden brown fleece. With a female like Vianca you are starting way ahead of the curve, but the key always is to make the next generation even better. Who to choose for that? We kind of like either Shiftin Gears or Gear Jammer, but then again Lunar Breeze would be an awesome choice. Who do you like?

Her low CV far exceeds the standards for very good uniformity and is witnessed in all of the cria that Mollie’s dam (Crescent Moon’s Happy) produces. Mollie is a standout white female and will soon be ready for breeding. We like Elite for this pairing for numerous reasons. By spring she had healed, and so, the following autumn we took her to her first show in Denver, the ABR Fall Festival. She was the Reserve Color Champion Black Female. Her impeccable conformation is complimented by the sturdiness of her frame and symmetry of her lines and proportions. Her very dense black fleece is uniform throughout, visible in the order of high frequency and moderate amplitude crimp. Into her second histogram, she is still maintaining good fineness as seen below. We have bred her to our up-and-coming black star, Crescent Moon’s Nitro. Our goal with the breeding is a black offspring who will eventually gain championship status. We think that Sombra and Nitro have a good chance to make that happen. Heck, looking at their individual show records, that notion is not at all farfetched! Wouldn’t you agree?

Amelia is an Accoyo El Nino daughter and at her side is her most recent cria, Crescent Moon’s Krystalynn, a stunning daughter by Kirwin. This tandem of mother and daughter will melt you by their beauty, quality and genetic power. In the cria alone, you have the names of Danko, Rayo del Sol, Kirwin, Royal Fawn, Camilio, Caligula, and of course the great El Nino. To make this even better, we have rebred Amelia to Crescent Moon’s Gear Jammer, one of our up-and-coming stars whose early production is incredible. The offspring from that cria will include the names of Elite, Shiftin Gears, Gear Jammer, Legacy, Chaccu, Camilio, El Nino and Caligula. Let’s cut to the chase here! We are talking incredible pedigree and quality. Can you say, “Wow!”?

That being acknowledged, Jerry’s little herd is sensational as well it should be. Each year Jerry gets to select a female from the cria crop for his abundant contribution to the Crescent Moon operation. May I say that he has exquisite taste, and so when he selected the lovely Crescent Moon’s Hottie a few years ago, I was not at all surprised? Hottie lives up to her name. Behold her equally lovely daughter by Crescent Moon’s Shiftin Gears: LBA’s Haeley. Haeley’s bountiful beauty is held up by a fleece which is electric. She is exceedingly fine and her fleece reveals very well-locked staple development which is ultra bright. Haeley is not only a champion, but she will make an excellent foundation female. Her first breeding will take some discernment as your options are many. We are ready to help with that decision whenever you and she are ready.

Ma Rose, as we call her, is a daughter of the highly regarded Misty Maiden who sold for over $200,000 a few years ago at age 12. She sold for that kind of money because the quality of her production year in and year out had been exemplary. As it turns out, her offspring are first rate producers in their own right. Elevation is a threetime champion/reserve champion who was always very competitive, no matter where we showed him and no matter who was in the ring with him. Consistently our judges had him at the top of his classes. His high frequency fleece is very bright and dense, and displays advanced uniformity. So that you know, along with his excellence in fleece and conformation and genetic makeup, Elevation is a joy to handle. We know the impact that Elite and his sons have had on our program and some of the more prominent programs around the country. These genetics are revered here and for good reason. Take a good look at this stud, and if you are smart, you’ll let Elevation “raise the bar” for your breeding program.

However, make sure that you ask us how she got her name, because the rest of the story is more involved. The bottom line for you is that Sumpin Good is a full Peruvian, medium fawn, Legacy daughter. She is ultra fine as indicated by her histogram below, and her full sister (from 2008) showed similar fineness in her first histogram, so there is no mystery here. She is very bright with excellent staple development and what you see and feel in one place, you see and feel everywhere across her blanket. She is very pleasing to the eye and she is elegant. She maintains a traditional huacaya head that by appearance makes her an unmistakable offspring of Legacy. Sumpin Good comes with a breeding when she is ready.
