GARY DUNNING Welcome to Celebrity Series’ 2017-2018 Arts for All! community engagement programs. With 100+ events, from interactive workshops and concerts in neighborhood venues, featuring some of Boston’s finest local talent, to master classes with great artists from across the globe, to a five day free festival of social dancing and live music on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, we hope you’ll come on out and join us! Our 2017-18 season opened with the return of Let’s Dance Boston from September 13-17. Professional dance instructors taught free outdoor lessons followed by five high energy live bands performing swing, mambo, disco, salsa and klezmer. Thanks to all who came out and joined the party! This season, Neighborhood Arts showcases local artists and students in residencies, workshops and performances of bluegrass, classical music, contemporary dance, Haitian dance, jazz, original compositions, world music, and works by African-American composers. In a special presentation, Celebrity Series will co-sponsor Los Colores de Frida with puppeteers from Teatro Sea in a joint presentation with Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción. Artist Connections features our main stage artists in inspiring masterclasses, coachings, workshops, and artist talks to our conservatory and community partners. In 2018, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Boston debut of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater with additional community events in anticipation of their annual performances in March. Take Your Seat continues to offer discounted and free tickets to students, families and community groups. On stage and off, Arts for All! programs harness the creative energy of the performing arts to build thriving communities and cultivate the next generation of artists and audiences.
