1 Musician, 1 Listener, 1 Minute of Live Music September 20-29 | 12PM-6PM Harvard Science Center Plaza, Cambridge Rose Kennedy Greenway's Chin Park, Boston FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, NO RESERVATIONS OR TICKETS REQUIRED Over ten days this fall, Celebrity Series will give powerful, free music experiences to 5,000 people: one listener and one musician at a time. Concert for One will pair individual listeners with solo musicians for 60 seconds of live performance, fostering intimate connections between performers and audience members. Performances will take place inside a temporary art installation featuring two specially outfitted shipping containers. Details of the performance, including the performer's name, instrument or what music they will play, will be unknown to listeners until they step into the space.

NEIGHBORHOOD ARTS BRINGS THE JOY OF LIVE PERFORMANCE to six Boston neighborhoods, partnering with 50+ community organizations and Boston area artists who anchor interactive workshops for youth and community concerts in neighborhood venues in Dorchester, Hyde Park, Mattapan, Roslindale, Roxbury, and the South End. AMERICAN/CONTEMPORARY MUSIC HUB NEW MUSIC Hub New Music showcases 21st century composers, including a performance with Urbanity Dance on October 5, 2019 at Roxbury’s Hibernian Hall, featuring Robert Honstein’s Soul House with choreography by Haley Day. Tickets are $5, to benefit the Urbanity Dance Access For All Fund. Hub New Music will also direct composition residencies culminating in school performances at Josiah Quincy School and Boston Renaissance Charter School.

JASON PALMER QUINTET The Jason Palmer Quintet will perform a jazz holiday concert on December 7, 2019 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in collaboration with the Summer Street Brass Band. Their March 21, 2020 concert at the First Church in Roxbury (tickets are $5) will benefit the Unitarian-Universalist Urban Ministry’s youth programs.

Castle of our Skins is a concert and educational series dedicated to celebrating Black artistry through music. Castle of our Skins leads the South End Stringfest (March 14, 2020) with Boston String Academy and Josiah Quincy Orchestra, a community concert at Church of the Holy Spirit (May 2, 2020), and school visits. All concerts are free.

A Celebration of Puerto Rico A Boston Tribute to Pablo Casals This special project celebrates the legacy of the great cellist Pablo Casals and his connections to Boston and Puerto Rico. Most well-known for rediscovering and popularizing the Bach cello suites, Casals was born in Spain in 1876 and made his Boston debut on November 26, 1901. In 1955, he relocated to Puerto Rico, his mother’s native land, where he was integral to the establishment of the symphony, conservatory, and Casals Festival, which continues to this day.

ABOUT CELEBRITY SERIES OF BOSTON Celebrity Series of Boston was founded in 1938 by pianist and impresario Aaron Richmond. Over the years, Celebrity Series has presented an array of the world’s great performing artists, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Marian Anderson, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Renée Fleming, Dizzy Gillespie, Glenn Gould, Martha Graham, Herbie Hancock, Yo-Yo Ma, Wynton Marsalis, Luciano Pavarotti, Itzhak Perlman, Leontyne Price, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Arturo Toscanini, and many more. Today Celebrity Series presents orchestras and chamber ensembles, vocal and piano music, contemporary dance, jazz, spoken word, and more.
