The idea behind the typeface was to make a more perfect version of Caslon. The style was kept simple and he focused on creating contrast between thick and thin strokes, sharpening the serifs and altering the axis of rounded letters to be more vertical. He also incorporated the swash on the letter Q and in a number of the uppercase letters in the italics version.
