Cemre Bayatlier (1996, Istanbul) hat ihre Architekturausbildung an der Universität der Künste Berlin abgeschlossen und studiert derzeit Kunst und Medien an der gleichen Universität. Die Künstlerin interessiert sich für imaginäre Welten und deren abstrakte Raumdarstellungen und versucht, diese Elemente mit verschiedenen digitalen Medien neu zu überdenken. In ihren Arbeiten, bei denen die Interaktion im Vordergrund steht, versucht sie, durch die Schaffung von Symbolen, die persönliche Spuren tragen, einen Dialog über das Subjekt und seine Umgebung herzustellen, während sie gleichzeitig versucht, Reflexionen der materiellen Welt im digitalen Medium zu erzeugen. Im Kontrast zu der schnellen Struktur des täglichen Lebens, die an Funktionalität orientiert ist, stellt sie die Rückzugsorte und ruhige Stimmungen in ihrer Produktion dar. Die Künstlerin, die in den Bereiche Video, Performance und Fotografi tätig ist, versucht, die Raum-Betrachter-Beziehung zu fiktionalisieren, während diese Medien miteinander interagieren.

Atoms, as smallest particles of the matter are the building stone for our material universe. Same logic appears in the world of the pixels which is another dimension created within the atomic realm with the same principles.

The aim of the performance is to reflect the current media addiction in today’s society. How media being used to shape our reality, becoming a frame through which, we perceive the world around us and how we unconsciously get controlled and imprisoned by it. Selfie stick and getting obsessed with our image in it represents our illusory social identity. The result of all of this is clear: suppressed crisis and hysteria.

…a man and an object, a man-object, as knick-knack on the chimney…with all his parts around, dispersed: flesh, feet, penis, libido____ dismembered… as the inverse of stage of mirror, losing his unicity, subversion of the masculine subject, voluntary trapped in the amnesia of desire…in a situation of re-arrangement, re-assembling…beyond frustration…an infinite possibilities of castration…caressing his eros-tanatos…condition. Educated as a predator, by western machismo routine… he is in the situation to surrender, abandoning his superb… shifting its representation…thanks to the transaction of the lady boy he abused, few years ago…to help him face his affective and sexual despair, as a casual pathology…He came initially in Bangkok to re-acquire the “legitimate” compensation of what he lost, or more precisely, what he never met, in his mishmash of pre-pubescent romanticism delusion…to…now …surrounded by his petrified semen…negotiate a subjective emasculation, escaping from previous vain agenda, from drive and suppression…to reach the un-raped grail…questioning as a white male the contours of his ID...

A metaphorical approach to an anatomy of a long-dead relationship. The house is a metaphor for their relationship, which has become a cage for them, imprisoned by themselves. The water as a formless matter symbolizes the freedom-the way out. While she is seeking for water, he is just trying to externalize/manifest himself.
