CAMPSAFE ® CONNECTION A Newsletter for CampSafe Camps Welcome to the first edition of CampSafe® Connection! Here you will find news for leadership, updates to the program, info to share with staff and parents, to support your commitment to camper and staff personal safety.
CampSafe Summary from Summer 2023 We had 74 camps, and over 8000 staff CampSafe trained which helped keep over 14,000 campers safe in summer 2023. WOW! Staff’s ability to identify a camper who is at risk for child sexual abuse went from 49% confidence to 97% after the training. Over 75% of participants reported feeling safer that their camp is taking action to protect the staff and campers.
Wear your 2023 CampSafe Certified Badge with Pride: There are many ways you can use your badge to inform families and staff that you are a CampSafe Camp. Place it on your staff page with other information about various trainings they will receive. Add it on to your information to parents – both on the website as well as emails. CampSafe Southeastern US Tour Cherie hit the road in July 2023 to visit camps in GA, SC and NC. It was wonderful meeting face to face with camp leadership and counselors. The feedback shared regarding the different challenges each camp faces and various challenges keeping campers safe have been utilized in updates to the training.

Important Updates in the CampSafe Director Training Now is a good time to register for CampSafe 2024 and get access to several updates and additional info on topics such as Using a Sexual Abuse Prevention Lense when Interviewing Candidates and Calling References. The training offers specific questions to utilize within the interview process as well as what to ask references through a prevention lense. More discussion about red flags to be aware of and additional information on how to better provide supervision to staff around the issue of abuse prevention are also provided. CampSafe Platform Improvements! We listened and have made numerous improvements for user experience. Staff that are managing your camp’s Group Leader Dashboard will be able to see staff progress at a glance, do individual or group emails directly from the CampSafe platform, and remove users (staff) when needed.
