JUNE 14 – AUGUST 17 Sister Cities Park welcomes curious kiddos to learn and play during Parkway Pals! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, a pack of Parkway institutions head outside to lead a variety of educational programs.

MONDAYS GROW UP GREEN 10:30AM

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation will take kids on an imaginative journey that emphasizes the importance of outdoor play with nature-inspired lessons and hands-on activities.

SOFT MOONS & MEANDERING DREAMS 11:30AM

Join The Fabric Workshop & Museum to explore themes in their current exhibition, Hard/Cover. Kids will have the opportunity to create river prints, moon viewers, playful patterns, secret seed sculptures and objects for a community table.

TUESDAYS STORY ART 10:30AM

The Free Library of Phildelphia will bring their popular storytime program outdoors for a morning full of movement, songs and imagination. Kids will receive a takeaway craft inspired by the day’s stories, while supplies last.

INVESTIGATION STATION 11:30AM

Join the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University this summer and go wild with fun games, experiments and unique activities! Learn how animals, bugs and even dinosaurs are affected by climate change.

SKETCHES TO SCULPTURES JULY 13 & AUGUST 10 10:30AM–12:30PM

Get inspired by the work of Martin Puryear, an artist who uses his hands and unexpected materials to create abstract sculptures. Sketch your own design with a focus on line, shape, and texture before combining materials to bring your sculpture to life.

WEDNESDAYS CREATIVE MOVEMENT JUNE 17 – JULY 7 10:30AM

Instructors from the Pennsylvania Ballet will teach young children how to express themselves through the art of dance! These outdoor movement classes will include African dance and ballet/movement.

AT SISTER CITIES JUNE 3 – AUGUST 26 THURSDAYS, 5PM–8PM Spread out and relax on the lawn as local singersongwriters perform among the tall trees and lush greenery. Beer, wine and cocktails will be available for purchase at the Sister Cities Café, along with snacks and treats for the kids.

PARK AMENITIES SISTER CITIES CAFÉ This one-stop shop for coffee and takeaway fare is the perfect place for parents and kids to fuel up during a day of play.

FOUNTAIN & CHILDREN’S DISCOVERY GARDEN The fountain at Sister Cities Park features 10 spouts, which represent Philadelphia’s Sister Cities around the globe. Sit, splash and enjoy the view before heading over to the Children’s Discovery Garden and Boat Pond. Inspired by Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley, the space inspires young visitors to explore nature in an urban setting. Recent enhancements provide a variety of new activities that spark curiosity, foster creativity and engage children from a broader range of ages.
