CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE 69

There will be times when you wonder if it’s worth it, so it’s important to find your motivation.”

ANNA CARTER FITFLUENTIAL FEATURE

PERSONALITY

& IN-DEPTH CONNECTION

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. ANNA: It’s important to address your state of mind. One way of doing that is by goal setting to continuously get better. Set your goals, hold yourself accountable, and increase the standard as you become comfortable with them. As long as you’re continually beating your best self, you have every reason to be confident in your abilities.

CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? ANNA: When making decisions, you should think about the long-term effects. A decision made today’s benefit may affect tomorrow’s outcome. Once a decision is made, don’t play the “what if” game with yourself. It does nothing but increase stress on something you can’t change. If it’s something that I really need help addressing, I will ask someone, who is detached from the situation. That is why I hire a coach to help me prepare for competition. It completely removes any questions about the direction I’m headed. It’s much easier for someone else to see how and when you need to make changes to your diet and exercise as we tend to be overly critical of ourselves.

CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? ANNA: Make them remember you. You have to know your audience and treat them as friends. I’m a firm believer that if you treat everyone with kindness and respect, you will receive the same. This gives you an opportunity to inspire others and market yourself.

CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? ANNA: Consistency and focus. Stay focused on the bigger picture. One thing that I’ve learned is that nothing ever goes as planned. When that happens, it’s important to stay focused on your goals and your “why”. When you hit these road blocks, a detour is necessary. Just don’t go so far off track that you forget where you were going. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? ANNA: Competing is not an easy sport. There will be times when you wonder if it’s worth it, so it’s important to find your motivation. Some things that I do to stay motivate are: refer to my beginning photos to remember where I was when I started, remind myself of my “why”, and communicate with my coach. These things help me to stay motivated to push through the lull.

CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? ANNA: I’ve seen a lot of changes in my body over the last three years, and my conditioning gets better with every year. My coach and I have already formulated a plan to bring a more conditioned physique to the stage in 2020 through diet and exercise. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. ANNA: Confidence IS sexy. You can tell a confident person in her attitude and appearance, showing comfort in her sexuality. She feels just as sexy in at-shirt as she does in lacy lingerie. She holds true to their beliefs and exudes a passion for it. When she speaks, she does so with such conviction that you believe it as well. But she, also, has a gentleness about her that says she still needs the strength of a man.

CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE 71

ON FITNESS

& ON HEALTHY

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? ANNA: The short answer is research. Continue learning. Today’s world is ever-changing. Just as with any profession, trends and technology is ever-changing. They fad almost as soon as it is introduced. Science brings about new discoveries. With new discoveries, comes new ways to achieve goals, so I try to keep an open mind to new ideas that are introduced in the industry and do as much research I can to educate myself on the benefits and drawbacks.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? ANNA: How you diet is more important that how you exercise. You’ve heard the saying, “You can’t out-exercise a bad diet”. Well, it’s true. You must eat for your goals, whether it’s as a model, athlete, or individual. All of these have different goals and require different nutritional standards to stay healthy. CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. ANNA: Along with exercise and nutrition, make sure to get enough sleep. Sleep is just as important as your diet. It helps improve brain function and muscle repair. Towards the end of my competition prep, I just feel tired. I find that if I work in a short nap and add an extra half hour to my nighttime routine, I can think more clearly throughout the day and tackle my workouts as effectively as at the beginning. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? ANNA: Right now, my fitness goals are to prepare for my 2020 IFBB pro debut. So I’m working to improve my physique to bring a much better overall package to the stage. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? ANNA: I can only speak for myself and my current goals, which are focusing on overall symmetry and conditioning. Since I sit at a desk for eight hours per day, I find that my core and posture can suffer; so, I favor exercises that help strengthen the core and improve balance and posture, like lunges, deadlifts, and squats. Once or twice a week, I do a stretch and plyometric day.

74 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? ANNA: The top two gym etiquette advices that I would stress are to always respect personal space and put your weights back. A sure sign that someone does not want to be bothered during their workout is headphones. It’s simple. If someone has headphones in, they want to focus on their session and appreciate it when they are left alone. It’s difficult to get back into your session when someone breaks your concentration and your muscles get cold. Changing out weights is a part of your personal workout. I don’t enjoy having to put my workout on hold to replace someone’s 100-lbs. plates before I do my drop sets. It’s common courtesy to return your weights when you are done using them.

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? ANNA: Exercise produces endorphins that stimulate the release of sex hormones, causing increased arousal, but other benefits of exercise are increased self-esteem and energy. Exercise makes you look and feel better. When you look and feel better, your self-esteem soars, making you carry yourself differently and become more appealing to your partner; and, with increased energy, you’re able to engage in sexual activity with a bit more vigor. CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? ANNA: Oh yes. You’ve heard that you don’t get old until you stop working. The same goes for exercise and proper nutrition. As mentioned before, exercise increases energy; but, with proper nutrition, it also improves memory and quality of sleep and reduces depression and the risk of diseases, like heart disease and diabetes. CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? ANNA: My advice to anyone wanting to achieve their personal goals is to hire a coach, experienced in exercise and nutrition to help you achieve your goals. After years of trying to do it all myself, hiring a coach was the best decision I ever made. I thought I knew how to exercise and how to eat, but I learned how to do these things to fit my personal goals.

I’m a firm believer that if you treat everyone with kindness and respect, you will receive the same. This gives you an opportunity to inspire others and market yourself.”

You have to just love it. Some are in it for health, others to compete. Find the reason that best fits you, and just love it.”

COREY HARMON FITFLUENTIAL FEATURE

PERSONALITY

& IN-DEPTH CONNECTION

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. COREY: I was once a 145-pound senior in high school, third string on the football team, with zero confidence in myself. I joined the Marine Corps directly after high school, and became a Military Policeman, where I learned how to not only deal with stressful situations of others, but how to properly become the man I am today. The gym was the way I gained most of my confidence. The days of feeling weak, and inadequate were over, once I finally started seeing results in my hard work. Hard work is something I thrive on to this day.

CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? COREY: I just love the challenge. Being assertive and attentive to my day-to-day training, and maintaining a good diet are all just something I have told my mind to enjoy. I have told myself to never quit, and to do what I love… so for me, it is only as difficult as you make it out be.

out though, you have to be willing to do what others won’t, such as, that extra hour of cardio, or those adductors and abductors. Someone who just has a love for the game, and someone who is humble with their progress show strength. CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? COREY: Determination, commitment, and a never quit attitude. Time tends to be everyone’s friend, and enemy at the same time. It is up to you to make it your friend, with a positive mindset. Instead of saying, “I’m going to have to give up cake and cookies,” say, “I’m going to make myself better by eating oats and fruits.” CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? COREY: You have to just love it. If you go into the gym every day thinking of it as a chore, or telling yourself that you don’t want to be there will drain you quick. Some are in it for health, others to compete. Find the reason that best fits you, and just love it.

CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? COREY: I have never done a professional competition, and have been told many times that I should. It has become something that I now strive for, and one day will step on a stage and claim my IFBB Pro card. Through hard work, and dedication to my diet, and listening to my body, I will reach my goal and beyond without issue. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. COREY: Confidence is sexy, that is just a fact. Being able to go on in life without being bothered by what anybody thinks, and walking in a room, knowing that you always look your best, shows extreme confidence, and tends to radiate to anyone around you. CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? COREY: First of all, I admire anyone and everyone who is in the fitness industry; because I understand the work, dedication, and sacrifice it takes to be your best. To stand

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? COREY: I surround myself with like-minded people, who like to talk about these kind of things. Whenever one of us learns something new, we enjoy sharing it with these kind of people, knowing that they appreciate it.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? COREY: Food is the most important variable to fitness in general. Personally, I have never felt better, physically and mentally, unil the day I started to eat right. It’s like putting synthetic oil in a vehicle instead of the regular kind; your engine will ultimatly last longer, and stay more clean. CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. COREY: Eating right, and making sure I get enough rest to repair the damage done in the gym. Growth happens in rest time, a very important factor. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? COREY: I just want to be the best I possibly can be. The grind will never stop, but one of my goals is to do my first competition, and eventually go for an IFBB pro card. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? COREY: You really have to have an open mind to anything. Essential exercises are usually just the basics, but they just need to be done correctly. You can lift a lot of weight and not see results if youre lifting it wrong. Lift it correctly, you will limit injury, and see results at the same time. CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? COREY: Just be courteous to others. Too many gyms have people that think they can just leave their weights around the gym, and that someone else will just puck up after them. Also, everyone has their individual goals, and desires. Be respectful to that, and always give a positive reaction to the people in your gym.

82 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? COREY: Overall this is true. Working out keeps your body healthy, and in return you will not only have more energy, but will have the desire to enjoy it more often and longer through your life.

CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? COREY: Fact. Working out releases endorphines (feel good chemicals) in your body. You can go to the gym angry, sad, happy, etc. and will always end up feeling better. Staying in shape and healthy keeps your internal organs healthy and happy, which will ultimatly keep the motor running more efficiant and smooth. CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? COREY: Everyone’s body is different, what works for one, may not work for another. Basically, if you want to gain lean muscle, you have to understand that it takes time. Of course, you need to eat more protein and complex carbs, but whenever you workout, you need to make sure you feed the muscles with a good source of protein, and REST. Losing weight is similar, but instead of eating so much and often, you would need to limit your portions of carbs, and make sure you incorporate healthy fats such as avacados. This does NOT mean skipping meals. You should never skip meals to lose weight… fasted cardio in the morning, and a well balanced breakfast after will keep your metabolism running smooth.

Staying in shape and healthy keeps your internal organs healthy and happy, which will ultimatly keep the motor running more efficiant and smooth.”

If you feel good on the inside, you will exude confidence and sexiness on the outside. There’s nothing sexier about a woman who knows what they want and goes after that.”

PERSONALITY

& IN-DEPTH CONNECTION

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. DANIELLE: As a person I have never limited myself. I know that when I put my mind to something, that no matter what I’m going to do what it takes to achieve it. I have failed many times in my life and at times have had to learn things the hard way. I think sharing this with people shows them where you started and where you can end up. I have become more confident in my career because I have been through a tough journey and it has made me appreciate my success’s more.

CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? DANIELLE: This is a tough one. You have to come to terms that in almost every sport there will be politics. With fitness, there will always be someone that looks better than you or someone working harder than you. My advice is to be yourself. People relate with your issues and struggles more than you realize. Once you become relatable, then you stand out and people look up to you as an inspiration and role model. Don’t be afraid to show your true self.

CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? DANIELLE: It took a long time to be able to be comfortable in this industry and learn the insides and outsides of it. Sometimes I still feel like I don’t belong. When it comes to managing difficult decisions, I have to consider the pros and cons and come to terms with myself if this decision will really benefit me and my happiness. I’ve always been one to try and make everyone happy, and in the fitness industry that can only become worse unless you don’t allow it to.

CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? DANIELLE: You cannot have thin-skin. This sport is not for the weak. I competed for 5 years before I achieved my pro card and having multiple times where I was one or two places away from achieving it. I know many people who give up after a few tries. I knew how badly I wanted it and I knew giving up was not an option. You have to have motivation and you have to have a good work ethic.

CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? DANIELLE: My biggest achievement of this year is turning PRO. I look forward to stepping on the pro stage for the first time with all the other pro athletes that have inspired me on my journey. It’s a whole new level and I will achieve this goal by continuing to work hard during my prep and go in with zero expectations but just to go out there with my best look and to have a good time.

CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? DANIELLE: Be prepared to never stop working. Set goals and aim to achieve them. Know that you will not always be motivated and those are the days that you might want to give up or throw the towel in. No one ever became a professional at something without failing at it a few times first. If you want it, then there is nothing that can stop you.

CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. DANIELLE: It’s all about self-confidence and self-love. If you feel good on the inside, you will exude confidence and sexiness on the outside. There’s nothing sexier about a woman who knows what they want and goes after that.

ON FITNESS

& ON HEALTHY

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? DANIELLE: There are all kinds of new and shiny fads on social media. A lot of them I don’t agree with or don’t follow. I know what works for my body, and I stick to that. Sometimes new isn’t always better. But I love reading any new fitness related articles and enjoy the science part that goes into it (I’m a little bit of a nerd).

CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? DANIELLE: One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone (usually a guy) comes up to me in the middle of set. When I’m at the gym, I’m laser focused and socializing is really the last thing I want to do. Another pet peeve I have is when someone doesn’t unload their 6 or so plates from a machine.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? DANIELLE: To me, this is the MOST important. When people say you cannot out work a bad diet, it’s true! As I get older, my body responds differently to the food I put it in. I have to watch what I eat, in order to keep my shape. I am not a naturally “fit” or “small” person. My metabolism isn’t super speedy fast. Nutrition is key to maintaining a lean, fit physique. If I had to choose what was the hardest between exercising and eating healthy, it would be eating healthy. I love cookies just as much as the next person, but you have to keep your long term goals in mind!

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? DANIELLE: Fact. Working out and eating healthy boosts a person’s self-confidence. Which ultimately can make any person feel better/stronger in the bedroom.

CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. DANIELLE: I think there are many skills that go into being able to maintain a fit figure. Some of them are; determination, goal-driven, positivity, self-confidence, CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? DANIELLE: My ultimate goal for 2019 was to achieve my PRO card. I started my prep in January and competed in 2 national shows. Team Universe in July was where I was awarded my pro card. My goals for now are to reverse diet and give my body and mind a break. I would like to step on the pro stage come 2020. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? DANIELLE: My essential exercises would have to be anything related with glutes and hamstrings. Exercises like back squat, straight leg deadlifts and hamstring curls are just some of the exercises I incorporate in my leg days.

92 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? DANIELLE: Fact. I feel amazing when I eat healthy and exercise on a daily basis. Not only does it keep your body in shape physically, but it keeps it in shape mentally. You can always tell the difference between someone who doesn’t take care of their selves and those who do. Exercising releases endorphins, endorphins make you happy. It’s science! CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? DANIELLE: I think in any fitness journey, the person needs to set a goal. You have to be motivated and you have to know that anything worth working for, will not be easy. I also think having a good support system is always essential when going through this journey. It’s nice to have people support you and have your back when you are trying to make changes and better yourself.

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. GARRET: To put it in a word, belief. There are many factors, both internal and external, that can prevent one from truly reaching for their goals. We must not be afraid to dream big, and I remind of myself of that to stay on course.

CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? GARRET: Be prepared for the ups and downs, while remaining level. CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? GARRET: On a wider general level, shifting people’s perception and mindset. Ideas such as we do not have to age at the same rate that is accepted as the norm, or one can not only be healthy and fit without the consumption of meat or other animal products, but thrive. I will start by displaying and representing these ideas myself, as we all know, actions speak louder than words. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. GARRET: Being true to one’s self. When you try to force any type of behavior, the lack of authenticity will always emanate through to those who choose to see it no matter how convincing you believe yourself to be. True confidence comes from self-acceptance and allowing your divine nature to shine through, something that is inside each of us. People are naturally drawn to that light. That is where sexy originates. CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? GARRET: Remaining open-minded is essential; I will research certain ideas and might give them a trial run, so to speak, if I feel it could be beneficial. But every new possibility is always based on the base of knowledge that I have built on over the years, like adding a new tool to the toolbox. Never stop improving. CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? GARRET: It’s everything! What I am consuming or not consuming, which is just as, if not more important, is constantly in the backdrop of my mind daily. Obviously, I am also very passionate when it comes to veganism and representing it in an accurate and beautiful light. CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. GARRET: Consistency. There is no way around it, does not matter how great and disciplined the specific plan or regimen is, if it is not followed day in and day out, the long term results will suffer and even decline. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? GARRET: I am a constant pendulum of putting on a little muscle here or there and then cutting down to tone up specific detailed areas. It can feel a bit maddening in the moment, but the results over the long term are what I am aiming for, and that goal never changes. Presenting myself in the best possible package I can to honor the blessing of this life I was given. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? GARRET: Well, I get pretty detailed with my exercises in order to achieve a more detailed aesthetic, so in my mind I have to do all of them! But to name a few that I cannot do without: any variation of rows for back, shoulder press, and hip thrusts. I will do those multiple times a week or as often as I can. CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? GARRET: Less talking, more working; and that includes using a device! There are plenty of places that are appropriately deemed a social setting, but the gym is not one of them.

114 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

It doesn’t matter if you are an athlete training for a game or competition, preparing for a show/shoot as a model, just starting your journey on a healthier lifestyle, wanting to stay active as we grow older, or somewhere in between I would think everyone has a goal they’re striving for and the focus on that task is essential to make that goal a reality.

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? GARRET: Fact. First, there is the obvious cardiovascular aspect. If your heart can’t handle the workload, you will get tired and fizz out quickly. But on a deeper level, blood flow, blood is the building blocks of all things including hair, nails, skin, organs, and even bones. To operate at one’s maximum efficiency you want to keep the blood flow strong all throughout the body and exercise (especially resistance training) is still the most tried and true, effective method of achieving this. CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? GARRET: Fact. Well, happiness is a tricky subject as that can only found from within each individual from the mental and emotional standpoints. However, there is a chemical response that takes places during physical activity releasing endorphins that have been shown to lift one’s mood. Personally, I always feel happier after a workout. As for staying young, I absolutely believe that. The nutrition you put in, feeding the body precisely what it needs slows down and even prevents aging, which at its core is basically the wearing down of our systems over time. The sleep and exercise you put in both release your natural growth hormone which slows down and can even halt the aging process. CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? GARRET: Have a plan, formulate how you can practically implement it into your daily/weekly routine, and then stay consistent. Put a high priority on your nutrition above all else, take a closer look at what you are putting into your body. I will advocate a plant-based diet approach all day long but for starters the number one thing I would say to keep in mind is what you avoid putting in your body is most essential. If you abstain from consuming the naughty stuff with zero nutritional content good things will happen. Your body is a masterful piece of biological machinery, let it work for you.

The nutrition you put in, feeding the body precisely what it needs slows down and even prevents aging, which at its core is basically the wearing down of our systems over time.”

CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? JAMIE: Currently, I’m maintaining my physique till I’m ready to cut again. I enjoy prepping for a photo shoot, stage, etc…. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? JAMIE: Compound movements always win when lifting. They create the biggest structures in the body and give more shape when done correctly. Mixing up your cardio routines can really help with boredom and keep you motivated to keep going. I always mix it up! CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? JAMIE: Never curl in the squat rack and always stay humble. Kissing yourself in the mirror between sets is not allowed.

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? JAMIE: Fact, it helps with self-esteem and especially in women! We feel better about ourselves and learn to be sexually inspired. For guys, I’m sure they appreciate the certainty in us women.

CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? JAMIE: Fact, living a healthy lifestyle does keep you happy and young. You look good, feel good, and prolong your life for your loved ones and yourself. CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? JAMIE: My advices to those who are trying to ether gain, lose, or just want to be comfortable in their skin. Don’t ever lose the vision or the why that lives in your heart to reach that goal. Living in regret that you could have tried harder or the fact of giving up, is far worse then taking the small steps to the bigger picture. Don’t give up on yourself.

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. GARY: There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance, I take pride in letting my actions speak louder than my words. Adopting that mindset forces me to keep a high work ethic and keep pushing my limits day in, day out. CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? GARY: I’ll sit down, weigh up the pros and cons and go from there. CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? GARY: Every day I wake up is a game changer.

CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. GARY: Someone who’s stylish, ambitious, secure with how they are and focused on achieving their goals. It goes without saying that person needs to be in shape too! CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? GARY: Honesty! A lot of people are selling their soul for a quick paycheck these days, I pride myself on being real and telling it how it is. CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? GARY: A hard work ethic, drive and a sprinkle of patience. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? GARY: Set some goals, spread positivity, and don’t worry about other people’s opinions 206 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: Do people get intimidated by you and your work? How do you handle that situation? GARY: I’m a nice guy but a hard worker. If some one gets intimidated by me 9 times out of 10 it’s because they’re soft and should probably focus on themselves as opposed to focusing on someone else. I wont be afraid to tell them that to their face also. CSM: Who is the person that gave you a huge impact in your life and why is that person is vital? GARY: My mum! Unfortunately, she lost a battle with cancer when I was a young teen but she taught me a lot in life and everyday I try to make her proud. CSM: How do you set goals for yourself? GARY: Every November, I sit down and reflect on the year I’ve had then think about what I want to achieve over the next 12 months. I then create a series of short term goals that will lead to me achieving the long term goals. On top of this, I make a list of what will stop me from achieving those goals; this makes it easy for me to stay on the right track. CSM: You work as a model or you compete in figure competitions alongside with your current job, what exactly motivates you and how do you do it? GARY: I like to push my limits in life to see what I’m capable of but I initially started taking care of my nutrition and fitness when my mum passed away as I wanted to keep my body healthy.

A sexy and confident person is someone who’s stylish, ambitious, secure with how they are and focused on achieving their goals.”

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. ANGIE: As a younger individual I was always told what I was and wasn’t capable of. With experience and growth I learned I was capable of any thing I put my mind to. There were always challenges and limits within many I met, that test one’s faith in self. My desire was to stretch myself and replace those limits with new and far greater beliefs. I like and live by the words of Martin Luther King “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? ANGIE: Everyone has to make difficult decisions from time to time. I look to my family, goals, desires and often look seek top professionals or advisors who have already cleared the path, as well as trust my instincts and experience to make the right call. CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? ANGIE: A game changer for me this year was landing a magazine cover and I am very honored and thankful to Center Stage Magazine for that! I continue to try to find a healthy balance and fill it with family, love, career and fitness, which are all very important to me.

CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. ANGIE: I think the true nature of a sexy and confident individual lies in their belief, excitement, passion, love and desire towards ones life and all its surroundings. I think it comes from within and I find that very attractive. To some its very natural and you can just see it oozing out of them. 216 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? ANGIE: I think the people that stand out are the ones that have put their mind, body, soul efforts into it. I believe its their passion that wins them over and stand far apart from all others. I feel the more passion, enthusiasm, hard work and determination I have, gets me through the challenges we face. CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? ANGIE: We own our own business. To be successful it is literally a 24-7 commitment. You have to let go, jump in and love it. All in, 100% and nothing else. You have to want to help others achieve success and want for them as much if not more then you want for yourself. We really can have everything we desire. You just have to want it more than anyone else, and work harder than anyone else to get it. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? ANGIE: Meditate! Let go of all the BS. Get your mind right and deeply and completely aligned with your goals. Then prepare to work harder than you ever have and have fun doing it. Love what you are doing and you will transcend success.

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? ANGIE: I constantly read articles and information on nutrition and fitness. I have a trainer that helps me with nutrition and training and I also follow many fitness individuals to keep on top of the latest trends. CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? ANGIE: Nutrition is super important, besides the mind, it is the next most important. Its not just important for a model or athlete but for anyone. Proper nutrition will keep you healthy, skin glowing, weight under control and looking and feeling your best. CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. ANGIE: Commitment, dedication, meditation, mindset, determination and a strong support group. These aspects are so important to ensure success. I believe that you must schedule time for cardio, weight training and meal preparation. Then if things get tough, call in the support to get you the extra kick that takes you to the finish line. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? ANGIE: I want to maintain a lean and healthy physique year round. This has always been a constant struggle, most of all in my mind. So I work hard on developing my self image as a healthy fit individual eating a healthy diet and looking great. I truly know anything is possible and I can achieve anything. However, it can be challenging and I have to work super hard to combat this. I’m currently planning to compete in a figure competition in late 2019.

CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? ANGIE: I currently do 30-45 minutes of cardio daily and weight train 4-5 sessions per week. I have my weight training sessions split up by bodypart to ensure I hit all areas. CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? ANGIE: My biggest pet peeves are people not cleaning the equipment after themselves and not re-racking their weights. Be respectful and clean up after yourselves, plain and simple. CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? ANGIE: Hell yes! Working out is a game changer… trust me… It gets the people going. CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? ANGIE: Absolutely a fact. Living a healthy lifestyle helps keep you free of sickness, full of energy and ready to take on each day. Exercise has a huge impact on aging. CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? ANGIE: Whether you want to lose weight or gain weight, whatever your goal may be, you can do it! You have to focus on what you want to become, not who you are today or your current situation. If you hold your vision close and work towards that every day, it will happen! Then invest in a top nutritionist to help with a healthy diet that aligns with your goals and get a trainer to push you when you don’t want to push yourself.

PERSONALITY

& IN-DEPTH CONNECTION

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. LAUREN: My current career started before I even knew it started - it started with a passion for fitness and health that was developed from a nutrition class I took in college. Not a day would go by that I didn’t seek out articles, studies, books, etc. to learn more and more. I started surrounding myself with people that were much smarter than me and had a lot more experience and I learned so much from every single one of them! Then, one day, I stepped away from Corporate America and pursued my career, my passion, and became a fitness trainer. Every day I push my boundaries - in both mind and body. I aspire to be more and to do more every day.

CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? LAUREN: Being attentive is crucial for what I do - I must listen before I speak if I want to help my clients achieve their goals and create a lifestyle that is sustainable long term. With that being said, once their plan is created, I am very good at holding them accountable. Being assertive has created an environment of trust and honesty with my clients. Difficult decisions are unavoidable and the best way to handle them is to make a decision with confidence, follow through, and if the path you chose didn’t turn out like you expected, role with it and do what it takes to correct it. Always move forward!!

thrown their way. When you truly know and love yourself, you are better equipped to love others and encourage them to find that same self-love.

CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? LAUREN: You stand out when you don’t get lost in the noise. It’s the quiet ones that stand out the most to me. If you watch those people close enough, you see them shine through their actions and not their words. I feel like I stand out because you simply cannot get me down. I am a “rainbows and butterflies” kind of girl. CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? LAUREN: Wanting to achieve your client’s goals as much as they do. When people see that you are standing by their side every step of the way, they stick with you! Also, always be improving!! “Develop a passion for learning and you will never cease to grow.” CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? LAUREN: Keep your head down and keep grinding. Never give up on your goals. Believe in yourself and improve at least 1% every day!

CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? LAUREN: I look forward to changing people’s lives. I live for and love hearing how excited my friends, family and clients get when they conquer their goals or break through a plateau. I, too, love achieving the goals I set for myself. Once you knock one of them out of the park, set another one and go smash it too!! CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. LAUREN: Wow, what a great question. A sexy and confident person is someone who truly finds happiness in themselves and in their life. It is someone who loves themselves from the inside out despite any negativity

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? LAUREN: I read books, blogs, and studies. I watch and follow experienced professionals in the fitness world. I have even tried many of the trends myself so that I can see what works best for me. Now that I know what works for me, I am pretty much practice the routine.

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? LAUREN: I’m going with fact on this one. I would say that when you work out, you feel sexier and when you feel sexier, you are more likely to want to seduce your partner??!! Just a thought.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? LAUREN: It is the absolute most important thing in my book. Food and nutrition are what helps me sleep better, think more clearly, and have energy throughout the day it is vital to my overall wellbeing!

CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? LAUREN: I absolutely believe this. Working out releases endorphins which make you feel happy and less stressed. This plays in to feeling young as well. Also, when you take care of your body, you can add years to your life - I really believe that!

CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. LAUREN: Eating the right foods for my body and activity levels. I rarely indulge on “junk” food unless it is useful for achieving my goals (re-feeds and “cheat” meals) but, even then, I am picky and eat foods that are high quality! And, of course, pushing myself in the gym. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? LAUREN: My most immediate goal is to grow the areas of my body that are lagging (glutes and hamstrings) and more long term is to step on a National stage for the first time in 2020. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? LAUREN: I’m not sure you could have asked a harder question!! Deadlifts, hip thrusts, reverse hypers, all things shoulders...so many more!! It is all about balance! I think the only thing I don’t train heavy is my chest. CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? LAUREN: Just be kind. Everyone there, no matter what level they are at, is there for the same reason - to improve their health and their life. Be mindful of this, don’t judge - encourage! Oh, and put your dang weights back where you got them from!

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. LIA: sometimes the limits that I have or have had in the past I let other people put on me. Once I got past that mentally I pushed through those limits because of the belief that I had in myself. It wasn’t easy though because I was brought up thinking that I wasn’t good enough or that I wouldn’t be anything. As I got older and successfully raised my children I set new goals for myself in modeling and even though I was scared I pushed through those challenging times and decided I need to do something for myself.

it became very easy for me. I don’t pay for modeling shoots and never half and I have gotten paid for a lot of side jobs that I do. Be professional. I show up early and on time and I make sure I have everything ready for my shoots and I think that’s a good start along with having a “real” personality to making it in this profession. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? LIA: I personally would say do this kind of work for yourself and never lose your integrity just for a photo shoot or for any pushy photographer or “guy with camera.”

CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? LIA: being a model sometimes I treated it as I treat everything in life. I try to be respectful and show up on time and do the best job that I can. This is how I’ve always been whether it be working at a jewellery store or doing shoots out in the desert. I try to do my best and I make sure that I treat it professionally and with class. The decisions that I make, I make them with responsibility to myself and to the integrity I have. CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? LIA: I keep my body and mind pretty much in shape year around so anything that I put my mind to I go after it. As far is game changing results go, I don’t really have that mentality of a huge 180° lifestyle change for anything. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. LIA: Sexy comes with an attitude of comfortable with one’s body and self. Confidence having no uncertainty about one’s own abilities, successfulness. CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? LIA: Honestly I don’t do modeling for a living. So I don’t know the complete steps of making it as a profession. I’ve done modeling since I was very young and I’ve always done it for myself because I enjoy it. I haven’t been natural at it my whole life but as I got older

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? LIA: I actually went to school for personal training and for nutrition but I also keep up to date with a lot of reading and researching. I keep what I think is important and I throw out what is proven to be a fad or something I see on the Internet that makes no sense.

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? LIA: I think that’s a complete myth because I’ve never had that problem. If you’re sexually attracted to your partner you definitely don’t have to be a gym goer to make things work any better.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? LIA: to me it’s one of the most important things that you can do as far as doing anything that has to do with modeling, athletics and keeping in shape. I eat about 8515 you’re around and when I want to tighten up a little bit I might increase that to 90/10...

CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? LIA: I would say that is 100% fact. People that work out frequently and eat clean a majority of the time definitely stay younger and happier. I can base this on my personal experience.

CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. LIA: It doesn’t take skills to be effective in your figure or shape. It takes a well balanced nutrition program and exercise to do that. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? LIA: I pretty much like the figure in the body that I have right now. I like to stay in shape you’re around and push myself at the gym. As far as goals, I would say I would like to maintain the body that I have. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? LIA: I train exactly like a bodybuilder with train. We’re going to the gym and prioritize body parts into individual days weekly. I pretty much use all the exercises that you see people use and I try to make sure the form and the execution is perfect. CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? LIA: for me the biggest gym etiquette problem that I see at the gym is people that are on their phones and sitting on equipment for a prolonged period of time. They are basically wasting their time and if I need to use that machine they are wasting mine. I don’t like it when people try to talk to me while I’m training either. I’m at the gym to make myself better not to try to pick up dates.

242 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? LIA: first of all don’t compare yourself to others. I see so many girls on social media that compare themselves to another female on IG that has doctored or Photoshop their pictures. This is not going to be good for anybody that’s trying to get to their fitness goals. The second part is to be very patient and to give it time for their bodies to adjust and to change. It’s not going to be easy and it’s definitely going to take some research. If you don’t know how to train you must hire somebody that actually does to help you and assist you. If you do not know how to eat you must hire somebody that actually does. Be prepared to spend money too on these goals. Your body is a temple and you must put energy and time back into it if you want it to be better. Invest in yourself ladies

PERSONALITY

& IN-DEPTH CONNECTION

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. MISHAK:I come from the streets in North West London, a place where it’s hard to become a success. I was at an all-time low, I weighed about 50kg, had low self-esteem and no confidence. I hit rock bottom and realised I had to change. In 10 months I went from the guy who couldn’t even lift an empty bar on a bench press to destroying my mental and physicals limits and being able to deadlift 3 times my own body weight of 70kg with my head held high. This journey wasn’t easy, at so many points I couldn’t get past a particular weight, but with planning, sheer hard work and determination I finally started beating them week in week out. CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? MISHAK: I rationalise the situation then I stick to my gut instinct and my training. With the right thought process, nothing will be too difficult.

CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? MISHAK: It takes a lot of hard work, pain, determination, self-motivation and sleepless nights to be successful in this type of profession. You’re a walking professional at all times even when you’re not at work, people are always watching, this isn’t an industry in which you can afford to slip up. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? MISHAK: Keep pushing; don’t stop for anybody but yourself. Dream it, make it a reality and live it, this road won’t be an easy one but it will be one of the most rewarding. Not many jobs where you can work as hard as you can and keep yourself healthy at the same time whilst motivating others. Make a plan and execute it with proficiency.

CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? MISHAK: I want to be stage/competition ready by 2020. I will work harder than I ever have with my team, I will have to change my whole life once again, but I’m ready. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. MISHAK: It’s not something a person can learn; it comes naturally. It’s part of a person’s persona. You can feel it and see it emanating from a person, you either have it or you don’t. It cannot be acquired like a skill CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? MISHAK: A big personality will help a person stand out. Things have changed now, more things are being accepted. 10 years ago my face tattoos would have been frowned upon but now I think it’s something that gets me noticed and brings me opportunities I would have never come across before. They are unavoidable so just be the best at what you do so you can stand firm footed in the middle of the politics.

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? QUINTIN: Social media, podcast, and health and fitness literature (currently working towards my NASM certification).

CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? QUINTIN: Don’t be a douche. We are all here for the same thing. There is no need to slam down your weights, or be a machine hog.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? QUINTIN: Rather you’re a model, athlete or just an everyday individual; food and nutrition should not be restrictive. Once you view food as actual fuel for your body, rather than just a cure for hunger, you’ll begin to make healthier food choices. Nutrition is not only important for beneficial for the human body to function accurately.

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? QUINTIN: FACT. Empty calories have absolutely no benefits for the body. When the body is fueled with beneficial nutrients(carbs, lipids, protein, vitamins, minerals and water), all of our body systems can function properly. The #1 cause of death in America is heart disease. Those who choose to consume essential nutrition and exercise regularly may reduce their chances of developing serious diseases that contribute to premature death.

CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. QUINTIN: Many individuals assume maintaining their figure (or even losing weight) is 100% about cardio and training. That is incorrect. Maintaining your figure/shape is 70% a fundamental diet (“Abs are made in the kitchen”) and only 30% from exercise. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? QUINTIN: Completing my NASM PT certification & nutrition certification. Also, achieving my pro-card in year 2020 - then on to the Olympian stage to complete with the best in the world. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? QUINTIN: To perform accurate exercises and avoid injury, stretching should be the first step. Next, I like to keep an open mind when doing cardio and exercises. I don’t care if the movement makes me look goofy in the gym, if I am targeting the correct muscle and making a mind-muscle connection - I know i’m on the right path! 286 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

TANYA BILISOLY FITFLUENTIAL FEATURE

PERSONALITY

& IN-DEPTH CONNECTION

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. TANYA: Six years ago, at age 37, I had been divorced for a few years with two small children and was financially struggling, overweight and very unhappy with myself. After trying all the shortcuts, I finally found bodybuilding and fell in love with it for so many reasons. I was intimidated by the weights at first but pushed myself beyond my comfort level. I knew in order to change, I would have to do things I had not done before. I kept pushing myself, and in 10 months, I lost 60 lbs and began to compete in bodybuilding competitions. I was not comfortable on the stage at first but was determined to push myself and not let fear (that internal negative self-talk) keep me from seeing how far I could go or what I could do. I have taken this mentality and applied it to my personal and professional life as well. Bodybuilding not only makes you strong physically, but it makes you stronger mentally too. In fact, everything starts in your mind. Your mind drives your body and actions. I now carry myself with an immense amount of confidence in my abilities and resourcefulness to get anything done. CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? TANYA: I rely on my many years of past experiences to draw from in current day situations. I use a combination of experience mixed with staying on top of current laws, rules and regulations for my industry to make sure I know what I’m talking about at any given time. Much of the time, diffusing a difficult situation or making tough decisions is about validation, education and logic. When dealing with a highly emotional client or person, I first validate them. Once a person in an emotionally charged situation feels heard, then they are able to hear you. That is step one. Then you can move into the education and logic part of the conversation in order to reach a resolution. And when I have to make difficult decisions, I look at the facts and take the emotions out of it. I do what is best for either my client or the bottom line, depending on if it’s a client issue or an business operational issue.

CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? TANYA: Over the last few years, I have been writing a book about my life. My intention is to help others through sharing my stories. The topics included in this book will cover everything from childhood traumas, infertility, an abusive relationship, fitness, learning self-love, suicidal thoughts and plans, to financial hardship and homelessness. It’s extremely personal but being vulnerable is where our real power lies if we truly are set out to help others. And I feel that there has to be a greater purpose for all the pain other than “a bunch of bad things happened to me – the end”. There has to be more to it than that. A greater purpose to it all. None of us wants to feel alone and when we do, and someone comes along that you can relate to and has been where you are and gets it, a little thing called “hope” is sparked in that person that was feeling alone. And hope is like a life preserver to someone that is drowning. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. TANYA: A secure person will naturally exude sexiness and confidence without even trying. Remember, confidence is quiet, insecurity is loud. Being secure with yourself, loving yourself and being your authentic self; not comparing yourself to anyone else and loving who you are and celebrating all the things that make you, you; is the most attractive thing in a person. They are not worried about impressing others or being someone they are not. They are usually down to earth, and well-traveled individuals with empathy and the ability to be a free thinker. They see things through a macro lens, instead of a micro lens. We are all one.

CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE 305

CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? TANYA: That is an excellent question. It can be very hard to stand out in a sea of 200+ competitors in your class. I think the answer to that question is confidence. You have to first believe in yourself before anyone else will. If you are unsure, the judges will be too. And I think that just comes from time and experience. Having a good coach is imperative. Someone that will be honest with you and keep you motivated and cheer you on and guide you along in the process. Prep can be intense, as most of us are juggling full time jobs and families on top of all that goes into doing a show. Obviously, your overall presentation is critical. You can look like a 10 but if you don’t believe it, they won’t see it. You have to believe it. So it really all goes back to confidence and stage presence and finding ways to set yourself apart from the herd when it’s your turn for the few seconds you get up there to shine! CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? TANYA: My full time gig is real estate. And I am in one of the hottest markets in the US – in Austin, TX. We have over 15k+ licensed agents in just the Austin market last time I checked. But only about 5-10% are actively producing, and 87% of real estate agents fail. Most never even do one transaction a year. I have been in this industry since 1994. I’ve done leasing, new construction with home builders, hard money lending to real estate investors to single family residential and commercial. I have co-founded a team and partnered with my sister. I think in order to be successful and profitable in this industry, you need experience and relationships in the business. Such as smart tech tools, a dynamic assistant and or transaction coordinator, and an effective closing officer at a title company. It really takes a village around you to get each transaction done. We are not glorified door openers. We are fiduciaries – we have the highest level of responsibility to our client’s best interest with severe consequences to those that are unprofessional or shady. I’m good at what I do and specialize in listings and luxury buyer needs. It really does take a village along with tenacity and excellent follow up, communication and negotiation skills to be a producer in this field and have staying power. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? TANYA: If you are new to this business, I would strongly recommend starting on a team and or having a seasoned mentor in the business to help you get started. You’ll need a lot of hand holding during your first few years in the business. Finding a supportive broker or mentor and one that provides leads for you is imperative.

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? TANYA: I read a lot and I see my own coach 2-3x a week. So we always talk about what I’m doing when we train and why I’m doing what I’m doing. I enjoy being involved in my own process so I ask questions and like to understand the why behind it all.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? TANYA: Food and nutrition is very important to me. I tell people all the time, that what you eat is 80% of what you’ll look like. The other 20% is what you do in the gym. I just know that for me, I feel better when I am a certain size and weight. So regardless of a show or a shoot, I still keep myself within a certain range that is comfortable for me. I usually stay within 10-15 lbs of my stage weight all year long. I actually prefer to do meal prep for the week. It makes my life easier to have all my food cooked already. Not just for me, but for my children too. With my busy schedule that includes the crazy real estate hours and my kids school and sports commitments, it’s so much easier to grab what we need for the day and take it with us and reheat than to figure out each meal each day. CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. TANYA: I think we all know our “wiggle room”. Meaning, how much play we have before we have to button down and get serious. As long as I have a certain amount of physical activity then I know I can eat pretty much what I want within reason and of course in moderation. I aim to be in the gym 3-5 days a week for at least 1 hour a day (5 days a week when I’m in prep). And I have a home gym too, so no excuses! I usually give myself a cheat meal once a week and eat very clean/paleo the rest of the week. 308 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? TANYA: I am aiming to get on stage again next year. So I’ll be working with my trainer to get ready and make adjustments as needed and keep pushing myself. I honestly love pushing myself to see just what I can make happen. After losing 60lbs and being smaller now in my mid 40’s than when I was in high school and AFTER 2 children, it’s just a personal achievement that makes me happy and feel good about myself. Happiness is truly an inside job. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? TANYA: I actually love training legs. It’s my favorite; leg day. I usually train legs 3x/week and uppers and abs 2x/week. I have lower back issues due to degenerative disc disease so I’m not in the squat rack as much anymore, but I do a lot of leg press and leg extensions and calf raises. I can do 360 lbs plus the weight of the sled for calf raises, which I’m pretty proud about.

CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? TANYA: Oh gosh…. I prefer small, non-commercial gyms for this very reason. Seeing your buddy there is one thing but to approach a stranger at a gym and hit on them is so annoying. You’re going to have to be smoother than that if you expect that to work. I’m a “headphones on, world off” type of girl when I’m in the gym. I purposely do not make eye contact. I’m truly there to push some weight and get on with my day of numerous responsibilities. The gym is not a dating site. Please stop doing that. Use that time and energy on re-racking your weights instead.

Be disciplined. Don’t tap out without really giving it a true chance. You have to realize that this is a lifestyle.”

Everything you do in life, comes from you. Starts with you. And you are only as good as your foundation. It will be the absolute best investment of your life.” TANYA BILISOLY FITFLUENTIAL FEATURE

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? TANYA: Absolute FACT. It’s just science. The more fit and in shape, i.e. conditioned you are, obviously the better you can perform physically, at anything. Skill, however, is an entirely different subject. CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? TANYA: FACT. I have said before that I found the fountain of youth and it is lifting weights and eating clean. And it is very important to understand that it truly is a lifestyle; not a diet. It is simply how we live. It is our normal. I am much more vivacious now, at almost 44 than I was in my 20-30’s! And it’s because of the way I live and my routine. I can keep up with my kids and lift with the boys. CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? TANYA: To anyone that is seeking a change in their physique, I would say to have a clear goal and find the right coach or trainer. And then, REALLY commit. Don’t go for a few days or weeks and quit. Stick with it. When I was on my own fitness journey, I noticed results in 4 weeks, and I was hooked. Be consistent. Be disciplined. Don’t tap out without really giving it a true chance. You have to realize that this is a lifestyle. It doesn’t happen overnight and there are no magic pills. You have to do the work. Everything you do in life, comes from you. Starts with you. And you are only as good as your foundation. It will be the absolute best investment of your life; I promise you that.

PERSONALITY

& IN-DEPTH CONNECTION

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. ANNA: I started my career super young and the ripe age of 18 years old. Getting adults to respect me and listen to advice I give them was tough at first. But I had to earn the respect. I made sure I was thoroughly educated and then let the results of my current clients speak for themselves. CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? ANNA: I make sure that I think of all pros/cons, and made an educated decision and sometimes even involve others and ask for advice. CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? ANNA: For my business I would like to continue growing it even more than it has, and have a worldwide business with 3 coaches under me by 2020. Also by 2020 I will be an IFBB pro in bikini. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. ANNA: There is a fine line between confident and cocky. Making sure an individual truly cares about the well-being of others and empowers others, while finding your own confidence is important. CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? ANNA: I think I stand out because I am real and don’t put up with any BS. I am a good balance of “model/bikini competitor” but also am very relatable, and the public likes someone who they can look up to and admire, but also relate to.

322 CSM FITFLUENTIAL ISSUE

CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? ANNA: Persistency. Making sure my clients know I care about them (which can be a lot of extra time on my end), but it is 100% worth it. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? ANNA: Start slow, and don’t expect clients to come throwing themselves at you at first. It takes a long time to be a full time personal trainer and online coach. Stay patient and if you love it enough, the clients will come.

CSM: Describe how you defied your limits and exuded confidence in your career and what did you do to push those boundaries. MIGUEL: When I set a goal I seek inspiration by other successful people. It’s about being fearless in your pursuit of reaching your goals. It’s ok to fail time and time again but you have to keep going and never give up.

CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required in your profession. How do you manage difficult decisions? MIGUEL: Difficult decisions will always present themselves, so I feel it’s important to be able to not get too emotional, think with your head not too much with your heart. Zoom out of a situation and think about the bigger picture, but some people need to be told a hard truth, and some situations can require a combinations of being able to empathise as well as sticking to what you feel is right. I’m confident that if you’re giving advice from a good place, it will ultimately be well received with gratitude. CSM: What game-changing results do you look forward and how will you achieve it? MIGUEL: My game-changing result this year is based around fashion and lifestyle, I’m at the beginning stages of developing a fashion line that is inspired by fitness and street wear, stay tuned. I know it’s not going to be easy, but stepping out of your comfort zone and chasing something you believe in is a game changer. CSM: Describe the true nature of a sexy and a confident individual. MIGUEL: Being confident in your own skin. Be true to yourself, and also believing in your capability.

CSM: What makes a person standout in an industry which is very fast-paced, full of competition and full of unavoidable politics? MIGUEL: Try and not copy anyone. Find something you love, enjoy and be dedicated to work hard to master that skill. Also, be open to put yourself out there, stay on top of the trends, stay up-to-date what on people are looking, the fitness industry has a lot of trends that come and go, it’s important to stay relevant but also not to get caught up and lose sight of what makes you unique. CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? MIGUEL: It takes a strong work ethic! I believe working in the fitness industry means that you have to be able to walk the walk, if you’re going to talk the talk. I train hard, and I expect my clients to train hard also, how I can I be a source of motivation and inspiration if I’m not willing to back up what I say. People come to me, or follow my workouts because they know I’m the real deal, I attribute my success because I truly believe everyone is capable of leading a healthier life. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? MIGUEL: Be willing to learn, take people’s advice, be prepared to put in long hours and stay focused. You have to be prepared to put in the hard yards, and not get complacent.

LIFEST YLE CSM: How do you keep educated or updated with latest fads in healthy living or lifestyle? MIGUEL: Source is reliable information that is backed by research. There great podcasts, and website’s that break down the latest research that can adapted to lead a healthier lifestyle.

CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a model, athlete or as an individual? MIGUEL: A highly important factor, a wholefood diet is the way I re-fuel after training, it keeps my mind focused, supports a strong immune system, and my overall wellbeing and energy. I feel that it’s important to be balanced eat healthy, but don’t deprive yourself, just don’t go overboard on highly processed foods. CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in maintaining your figure or shape. MIGUEL:Being consistent, for me, fitness and training is a huge part of my lifestyle, without training I don’t feel like myself. I maintain my physique with consistent and regular training, I also enjoy training with friends, and can be super focused training by myself. Training with your friends, is a great way to stay motivated to train and make exercise a way of life. I see lots of people give up on the fitness goals purely because they are not consistent. CSM: What are your fitness goals that you are aiming now? MIGUEL: Right now I don’t have a specific fitness goal, but I will also try to keep improving and be better than I was yesterday. CSM: What are the essential exercises you have to do as a fitness enthusiast? MIGUEL: Personally for me it’s running, boxing, jump rope, HIIT, and calisthenics. Body weight exercises are awesome for endurance, strength, mobility and stamina.

CSM: What is the ultimate gym etiquette advice for people? MIGUEL: Look after your personal hygiene, and put your equipment away when you’re finished.

CSM: Fact or myth? Working out improves one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity? Why do you say so? MIGUEL: Good question, that depends on the individual, you can be fit and doesn’t mean you’ll be a freak in the sheets. But, it’s fair to say that working out can make you feel more confident, and feel more sexy in your own skin. So I will have to say that ’s a yes FACT. Sex is also excellent exercise ha. CSM: Fact or myth? Living a healthy lifestyle keeps you happy and young? Why is that? MIGUEL: Absolutely, one of my friends named Bernie is 94 yrs old, he has been working out regularly since he was a teenager, and he leads an active life and is a testament that age is just a number. I hope I’m as fit and alert at his age, a true inspiration to see what a healthy lifestyle can achieve. CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain weight and lean muscle or lose weight and be sexy? MIGUEL: Both require hard work. Gaining weight generally will mean more calories in and a program that based around strength and conditioning to build muscles. Similar to someone that wants to lose weight, generally there’s a diet around a calories deficit, added cardio as well as strength and conditioning. It’s also about what mindset and attitude you adapt, be focused on your goals but be flexible to change it up if it’s not making you happy or getting the results you’re after.
