VICTORIOUS ENDING: College of Engineering Student Council officers settled their term as ‘Second Best Student Council’ among the eight college student councils in the university.
Finishing the dedicated service to the studentry of the college student council officers for S.Y. 20132014, College of Engineering Student Council (CESC) was named ‘Second Best Student Council’ and bagged two major awards during the Liderato Awards 2014 held at RET Cafeteria last April 10, 2014.
Aside from being in the top three student councils within the university, which is the first time, CESC also grabbed this year’s Best in Community Service and Best Educational Activity awards. The student council of the College of Education took the first spot while the student council of College of Business

Governance with Responsibility and Optimism through Outstanding Volunteerism and Excellence (GROOVE) Party led by Regina Carmeli Teruel swept nine out of eleven chairs for the college council on March 4 poll. The first tallying of votes was conducted 5:30 pm on the same day. Due to the five-vote lead of Don Arvin Llena from Jordan Veneracion and Jessyl Mae Galapon left behind Van Pastor by four, the BS in Meteorology casted their votes all the way from Manila. A recount was made on March 10. The additional votes were in favor of the GROOVE giving Veneracion the spot and Galapon a bigger lead. Uncontested positions were taken hold by Hannah Lea Ortiz,
Marco Garcia and John Lerry Bautista. Teruel’s platforms include organizing the ‘HIMDAYOG’ , conjoined word from himig and indayog, a club of talents from which talents for entertainment and intermission number for programs will be fetched and the making of new CEn tambayan, whereas, students can spent their vacant time to study or relax. CEn degree programs undergo accreditation Association of Accredited Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP) accredited the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology programs of College of Engineering - Central Luzon State University last December 2013. The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program was accredited Level II and qualified for Level III. On the other hand, the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program was accredited Level I. According to Dr. Ireneo C. The event was a quiz show composing of questions from General Engineering subjects and applied Mathematics. Participating countries were Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambo-

A rope that bind and secured the College of Engineering as a university competitive, productive and progressive institution had been already cut after Governance with Responsibility and Optimism through Outstanding Volunteerism and Excellence (GROOVE) Party, seized the majority of the positions during the poll for College of Engineering Student Council last May 4. GROOVE Party,
sweeping most of the positions, made The GIANTS, a party which dominated the student council for three consecutive years, out of the ring. The GIANTS begun after Allen Denver Mangaoil awakened the college from its hiatus of exercising suffrage after the first College of Engineering Student Council election put him on the seat. He founded The GIANTS which took 11 out of 13 seats in the college student council for academic year 2011-2012. Looking at the CEn students’ college shirts and lanyards, his team’s biggest legacy is still visible up to now. During the academic year 2012-2013, another student politician, in the name of Donna Joy Mogar, adopted The GIANTS, which made her together with her five-man-team signed to office immediately due to lack of contention. In her time as CESC President, she retorted to the thirst of the students for council activities like Mini-Intrams and CEn Honors Day. She also rekindled the Constitution and By-Laws of the council, which in many years became insignificant. These resulted in a complete line-up of entries to the Liderato, where her team took home a major award, Best Educational Activity. After the year of Mogar,
the name of Raymond Jay Bergonio sprouted as the successor of The GIANTS. His team took a clean sweep of election last year. Before his presidency was ended, his team revived The Mechanics, the College of Engineering official student publication, and he opened a scholarship program for the needy students of the college. He also placed the college in the upper echelon of competitiveness after being third in University Intramurals and overall champion in Lantern Festival 2013 and Tagisan Reloaded 2014. Carrying the name of the dominating party The GIANTS, Silver Velasco aimed to take the presidential position for the student council but Regina Carmeli Teruel of GROOVE Party impeded him. Teruel’s party was chosen by the students of the college behind their platforms like organizing the HIMDAYOG, a club of talented students from which talents for entertainment and intermission number for programs will be fetched and the making of new CEn tambayan which is a WiFi zone. The students of the college have chosen their new leaders for the new face of College of Engineering but their eyes are still wide open to observe the actions of the fresh student council servants they put into the chair.
Voted as the College of Engineering councilor to University Supreme Student Council(USSC), Johanna Genesis Cera is expected to assist in formulation and implementation of programs, plans and activities of the USSC; compose the constitutional adhoc committees; and perform other functions and other duties that may be assigned by the chairperson (Article VII, Section 6 of 6, USSC Constitution). During the student parade last February 10, while students of other colleges were putting their names in a neat white card, the maroon attendees were like sheep without a shepherd. Annoyance arose, particularly from those who came for the sake of attendance, when our ambassador is nowhere to be found. Informal yellow papers served as the attendance sheets were collected by an officer of college council and to be brought to her highness.
Isn’t this a familiar scenario? When the results of the lantern and float making competition were appealed, where is the one who said she wanted CEn students to have faster access in USSC? Lost in the woods, we guess. Upon the second quarter, a warning for impeachment was given to Cera along with Anjo A. Bolasoc, College of Education Councilor, and Percieval D. Dayag, USSC Secretary, for their inactivity. “Madalang silang umattend sa meeting. ‘Pag malaking event na may benefits, doon lang sila.” Mark Kennedy C. Fernando, the USSC Evaluation Committee, commented.
According to Fernando, Cera attended 60% of all USSC meetings. “Hindi namin naaasahan sa mga events si Cera,” Fernando stated. Being busy in scholastic stuffs, organizational activities and other affiliations are no excuse for her inactivity. One should have fathomed that before longing for the chair. Attendance records (in USSC meeting) barely show her name. Hey missy, such seat wasn’t meant to be emptied. Officers took an oath. The demand is to carry their said responsibility. Hindi lamang sa aspetong pamumuno kundi maging sa pakikisama at pakikinig sa saloobin ng mga estudyante. Hindi naman po ako manhid at bingi upang hindi malaman ang hinaing ng karamihan patungkol sa student council (hindi lamang sa CEN). Kesyo wala naman daw nagagawa para sa mga estudyante, lagi nalang required ang pagdalo sa mga pagtitipon, na ang mahal pa ng fines pag hindi dumalo, may activity nga wala namang kwenta (‘yong iba boring daw at magulo), na inaaksaya lang daw ng SC ang “precious” time nila na kung tutuusin ay maaari nilang igugol sa paggawa ng requirements at pagrereview. Tama po ba? Hindi ko naman po kayo pinipigilang mag-

Responsibilidad din po natin ang dumalo sa mga pagtitipon na inihahanda ng unibersidad at bawat kolehiyo. Hindi naman po ito ihahanda ng mga namumuno

Ang tanging magagawa lang natin ay mag-aral ng mabuti at ipakita na kahit hirap nating abutin ang itinalaga nilang passing mark, atlis, ginagawa natin ang lahat ng makakaya natin. Kahit sunog na sunog na ang kawawa nating kilay. Malay mo, dahil doon maawa si sir at magdilang anghel ako. Kundisyunal

“Avoid intellectual dishonesty,” iyan ang mga salitang naka-all caps pa sa examination paper namin dati sa Math226. Nakakatungtong na ng ilang taon sa sielesyu ngunit marami pa rin ang hindi nakakaalam ng mga katagang ito. Kung perstaym mo man ito, congrats. Sa mga unang pahina ng isang manwal sa asignaturang Strength of Materials mababasa ang mga halimbawa ng akademikong pandurugas. Ilan na rito ang pangongopya at pagpapakopya, pangongodigo, pagaangkin ng ideya o gawa ng iba, pleydyarisim, padaliin ang pandaraya ng iba, pagkakaroon ng walang pahintulot na kopya ng mga eksam, pagpapasa ng gawa ng iba ng walang pahintulot mula sa may akda. Ang mga pandarayang ito ay hindi limitado sa mga nabanggit. “Kailangang pumasa e.” Iyan ang depensa ng mga estudyanteng kumakapit sa patalim. Hindi mo pa ba nabasa ang sa student handbook na ang marka ng mahuhuli sa actong pandaraya ay otomatik na makatatanggap ng singko? (Article 6 Section 5 ng Student Handbook, cheating: grade of 5) usto nating pumasa. Syempre sino ba namang matinong estudyante ang gustong bumagsak at mapag-iwanan ng mga
kaklase? Pero isipin mo, papasa ka nga ba talaga? Marahil kaya pabagsak ang marka mo ay dahil hindi mo pa talaga naiintindihan ang lesson. Kaya naman, lunukin na ang pride at sagutin ang tanong ni sir: Any questions? Imbis na makipagsabayang bigkas sa “None sir.” Itaas mo ang kamay mo at manghingi ng ilan pang halimbawa o ipapaliwanag muli ang puntong di pa naiintindihan. Kung susuriin, mas matataas ang grado ng mga estudyanteng piniling magsumikap sa pagaaral kesa mandaya. Magbigay oras sa leksyon. Magpaturo sa kaklaseng nakakaalam o sa higher year na. Kung pandaraya ang madalas mong gawin ngayong kolehiyo, papaano ka magiging matapat na inhinyero balang araw? Kung sakaling may mali o may problema sa pinaplanong proyekto, di malayong dayain mo rin ang mga data o presyo. Tiyak na pasado ka sa lupon ng mga kurakot sa mundo. Q: Anong pagbabago ang nagawa mo para sa kolehiyo? A: Aside sa na-revive yung publication natin, siguro yung term na “kaya natin”, kaya nating umangat at higitan yung ibang college sa mga university activities. Yung nabuhay, nag-excel, at nag-improve tayo at yung standing natin ngayon sa ganoong mga larangan sa tulong siyempre ng mga estudyante ng CEn. Q: Ano ang pinakamalaking suliranin ang kinaharap mo sa panahon ng iyong panunungkulan? A: Suliranin? Hindi ko na kasi binibilang na suliranin yung pagsa-submit at paglabas ng pera natin sa Admin, kasi na -overcome naman namin yun. Siguro pinakamalaki yung “pagsabayin yung pag-aaral at the same time yung pagiging council president”. Hating-hati yung oras mo. Yung gusto mong magpahinga minsan tapos maaalala mo na kailangan mo pa palang gawin ito. Tapos mayamaya may magtetext na may quiz, may assignment, may exam bukas. Pero inenjoy ko nalang kasi pinili ko ito kaya paninindigan ko kahit mahirap. Q: Ano ang mga bagay ang nakatulong upang maging maayos ang iyong pamumuno? A: Hindi lang siguro bagay, mga tao pa. Una, EXPERIENCE, ito yung baon ko, kasi bago ako pumasok sa CESC, natrain ako sa org. Naexpose kasi ako sa ilang mga paper works, mga paglalakad ng letter at nakita ko rin kung paano mag-organize ng mga activity. Ikalawa, sa mga co-officers ko, siyempre kila sir Bryan at sir Cuaresma. Kay dean, sa pag-aapprove ng mga activities natin sa college. Ikatlo, sa mga kaibigan at mga bagong kaibigan na lagi nagpapaalala na mag-aral daw ako at sa mga sib ko. Higit sa lahat, hindi magiging maayos yung pamumuno naming kung hindi dahil sa partisipasyon ng mga estudyante sa bawat activity natin sa college.

A: Una sa lahat, ang nais naming sanang gawin na pagbabago para sa kolehiyo, ayon sa aming grupo, ay ang pagkakaroon ng mas maayos at mas malinis na kapaligiran at ng mga study rooms dahil isa sa nakikita naming problema ay hindi masyadong pansin ang kalinisan sa ating kolehiyo. Then, gusto sana naming mapahalagahan yung EXCELLENCE pagdating sa paghubog pa ng mga talent ng ating mga kapwa estudyante ng kolehiyo. Q: Ano ang nakikita mong pinakamalaking suliranin ang kakaharapin mo sa panahon ng iyong panunungkulan? A: Para sa akin, RESPONSIBILIDAD ang pinakamalaking suliranin, hindi lang sa pag-aaral kundi pati sa pagsisilbi sa lahat ng estudyante ng ating kolehiyo. Yung paghahandle ng iba’t ibang ugali ng mga estudyante. Q: Ano ang mga bagay ang sa tingin mo ay makatutulong upang maging maayos ang iyong pamumuno? A: Sa tingin ko, kailangan ko lang magkaroon ng closure sa lahat ng mga estudyante para hindi sila mailang kung sakaling mayroon silang comments and suggestions. Gusto kong maging isang approachable na leader sa lahat at sila ang tunay na makakatulong sa akin para malaman ko at mabigyan ko ng solusyon ang mga problema ng ating kolehiyo.

His drawings have imaginative expressions and intellectual interpretations. Of course, with his powerful talent, he is also an intelligent person. In fact, he is a scholar and a high school valedictorian. According to the mob, he is responsible, kind and productive individual. Furthermore, he is the favorite son of his mother even though they were only two siblings. He has quite bitter feelings towards Kuya Alvin because before, he was a college scholar while Kuya Alvin is a university scholar. Ate Donna a.k.a “Donna Jebs”, the Managing Editor, is the sexiest staffer of The Mechanics. She has a good sense of humor and is very excellent when it comes on dieting. She is also a member of CLSU-ACES and the former president of College of Engineering Student Council. Aside from being a diet mentor, she is also skilled when it comes to speech communication. According to one of her friends Ate Donna is happily committed to… God, of course. She was also a valedictorian during her high school days.. This the man of words, the Associate Editor-in-chief, is one of the epitomes of cleverness. Kuya Alvin is the editor of the editors. He always corrects all of our write-ups. He is also one of the debate masters in our college. He has a broad knowledge which he converts to rational argumentations. We can see him very seldom in the office and he has only few signatures on our attendance sheet since he is a preoccupied person. Kuya Alvin is also an academic achiever in his 5 years of existence in this university, from being a high school valedictorian to being a university and college scholar. Kuya Alvin, congratulations to all your outstanding achievements, it was all worth it. We are all wishing you all the best and a magnificent career as an engineer in the future.
A man named Christian Saguion is one of the reasons behind this college paper. He is the Managing Editor of this publication during the first semester. He gave all the necessities of the writers including the facilities that are being enjoyed by the writers now. Actually and talking into reality, he risked his diploma just for this issue. n order for an engine to perform its work, it must have a certain quantity of heat to be applied to produce a certain amount of vigor. Likewise, the college needs an evident leader to bear the crucial responsibility among its population.
Raymond Jay Limon Bergonio, an evident name of success upon College of Engineering. Since there is always a need of leadership, he conquered the task and proved that in his administration, nothing is unfeasible for College of Engineering to reach its goal. He treated leadership not a responsibility but an opportunity to rule one of the colleges of Central Luzon State University.
“CH U -CH U ” . His friends sound like calling or dispatching a dog. It’s their favorite epithet for our president. His pseudonym

can also be reflected as Capable of Holding Undergraduates through his Command and nothing is Hard to Undertake. He is pretty impressive of leading more than a thousand of students among the college. In his hands, the welfare of the Cen students is seemed to be possible. Many people might be confused about his real identity but certainly he is not just what you think. He dreams to be a stable family man and definitely, an engineer in the near future. Kuya CHU is a good example of a student who never committed any failing grade in his stay in this university under his course Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is also superior when it comes to Mathematics and in other subjects.
In his administration, the College of Engineering separated with CHSI as Unit III for the intramural games. This hap triggered him to proved that the College of Engineering can stand on

its own feet and make it to the top. He also lead in gripping back the throne of CLSU Lantern Festival. We, the College of Engineering, with Kuya Raymond, reached and aimed the peak of success. Furthermore, lot of achievements had been recovered through his ruling. Aside from being the president of our college he is also an organizational member of PICE-CLSU Chapter batch 2012 under “papa batch”. He acted as the Head Committee on Education. He actively participated in many events in order for him to improve himself as a learner. This 2014, the service of our president will come to its end. A new administration will take the leadership. It is also his last glimpse in our college, as a student, for he will graduate this April 2014. Through this 20 year-old man, and his countable days, the felt for leadership has reached its demand. “Malaki ang naitulong nya para sa CEn, nakikita natin na maayos na nagagamit ang funds,
maraming activities and active siya in all aspects,” a good comment from one of the students in our college. A good leadership can be measured from the results and the actions of its crowd. Dean I reneo C. Agulto also extends a message for all the good deeds of kuya Chu in our college. “Keep up the good work, thank you for the outstanding accomplishments in our college,” said Dr. Agulto. Kuya Chu is one of the pride of College of Engineering, for in his administration, the fruit of success has been harvested. He truly served as an inspiration for the next generation of governance. Moreover, he challenged the next president not just to maintain what the past CESC had done but to overawe all of the accomplishments they had made and most importantly he must love all the students of College of Engineering. Magkakaroon tayo ng diploma sa iba’t ibang paraan at pagkakataon. Diploma ang papawi sa ilang taong pagtitiis. Na sa isang iglap ay makakalimutan natin ang ilang taong paghihirap. Sana nga, madali lang ang pagkakaroon nito. Kung gayon, nakakasiguro akong walang mapapagod na mag-aral. Ngunit sabi nga sa isang litanya, kung mabilis nating makukuha ang isang bagay baka mabilis din itong kakawala sa ating mga kamay. Nakakainip. Dahil ba may higit pa tayong hinahangad bukod sa mga bagay na kuntento naman tayo kahit wala? Dahil ba may mga sitwasyon na hindi umaayon sa mga kagustuhan natin? Bakit ba parati tayong nagdadahilan sa tuwing wala tayong napapatunayan sa sarili?
Bakit nga ba dapat pang magaral? Ang dami nating tanong sa ating sarili ngunit isa lang namanang sagot sa mga iyon-hindi ba’t ang pagtupad ng pangarap ay obligasyon natin sa ating sarili at hindi para sa kaninuman. Oo, tama nga sila. Masyadong maikli ang panahon para ituwid ang kulot at baluktot nating pinaniniwalaan sa ating sarili. Sabi nga ni Bob Ong, dalawang dekada lang naman tayong mag-aaral. Kung hindi natin pagtitiyagaan, limang dekada ang katumbas na hirap. Hindi ba’t sobrang lugi? Kung ilalaan natin ang oras sa mga walang kabuluhang bagay, hindi ba’t para na rin tayong nag-iipon ng basurang maaring mabulok? Ang katamaran, pagkabugnot, takot at panglalamang ay ang mga basurang dapat ng itapon. Huwag nating madaliin ang pag-aaral. Kung komportable ka dahil nakasandal ka na sa balikat ng iba, hind iba’t mas masarap na sumandal sa pader? Huwag kang matatakot na mauntog sapagkat kung hindi ka makakaranas ng sakit at pagkabigo sa iyong tagumpay, hindi ba’t hindi ito tunay? Huwag natin husgahan ang iba dahil sa mahabang panahon na inilagi niya para sa inaasam na diploma. Mas higit pa ang pagtingin natin sa ating sarili. Dahil sa realidad, wala tayong kalaban kung hindi ang sarili. Ano nga ba ang nakakapagpalakas ng loob ng isang tao? Hindi ba’t pagtitiwala na wala tayong hindi kaya kapag tayo’y mag-isa? Dahil walang mas hihigit pa sa taong sinubok ng panahon bago makahawak ng diploma kaysa sa taong nagkamit agad ng diploma ngunit mangmang dahil umasa lang sa iba. Isang taon na nga ang nakalipas Ramon, miss na miss na kita! Hindi ko pa rin makalimutan ang lahat, sadyang napakabilis naman kasi ng mga pangyayari. Naaalala ko pa noong una kang nagtapat ng pag-ibig, February 14 noon isinakto mo pa talagang itapat sa araw ng mga puso. Nakita kita sa labas ng CEn Library , nakapolo ka pa noon kasi required ata kayo na magsuot ng formal samantalang ako feel na feel ang pagiging engineering student habang nakasukbit sa likod ang isang T-square at canister. Tinawag mo ko at kinamusta sabi ko “ Ramon, Pagod na pagod na ko! Puyat pa ko! Tapos nireject nanaman yung plano na ginawa ko. Uulitin ko nanaman.” Ngumiti ka lang sabay sabing “Ok lang yan, halika ililibre na lang kita” Napansin ko na binubuntutan tayo ng mga batche mo na para bang may hinihintay sila na gawin mo hanggang sa naramdaman ko na may surpresa ka di na ko nag atubili na tanungin ka kung anong meron bigla kang my kinuha sa loob ng bag mo, isang t-shirt “Happy Valentine’s Day Jane. Alam kong ayaw mo ng rose, chocolate, cake o balloon kaya ayan t-shirt nalang basahin mo naman yung naka print.” Binasa ko yung nakasulat “On this first day of valentines between you and me, I think it is fitting to reflect on us. You could say we’ve been for a while, around 4 weeks? 1 day? 15 hours? That’s a lot of time made up of meet ups, crush & love time and kilig much moments.” Sa sobrang kilig ko hindi ko namalayan na tinaggal mo na pala yung polo mo, nakasuot ka na ng t-shirt na may nakasulat “The next layer after this is my skin, after you read this I’m down on my knees” tapos bigla mong iniabot sa akin ang isang marker pen sabay tanong ng “Pwede ba kitang ligawan?” Sa sobrang gulat ko at hiya dahil napakadami ng taong nakapaligid sa akin hindi ko na alam ang aking gagawin ngunit bigla kang tumalikod at natawa nalang ako ng nabasa ko na may YES or NO sa likod ng t-shirt mo “Sulatan mo nalang yung box na katapat ng gusto mong isagot.” At dahil gumawa na tayo ng eksena sa tapat ng YES nagdrawing ako ng isang smiley na may heart. Simula noon ay mas lalo pa tayong napalapit sa isa’t isa.
March 14, isang maalinsangan na tanghali, dahil sa sobrang puyat at pagod kakareview at kakagawa ng sandamakmak na requirements napagdiskitahan naming ng mga kaibigan ko na makitulog sa boarding house ng isa naming barkada hindi naman kalayuan yun kaya go kami. Sa sobrang stress namin ay nakatulog kami kaagad nagising na lamang kami ng isang malakas na ulan at hangin. Lumabas ako upang iappreciate ang hangin at ulan na umaanggi sa aking mukha. Natapos nanaman ang isang stressful na araw sa buhay ko. Kinagabihan tumawag yung batchmate mo, “Jane, alam mo na ba?” “Alam ang alin?” agad kong sagot. “Wala na si Ramon.” Hindi ako naniwala agad at inisip ko na kinuntsaba mo lang siya “Oi wala naming ganyanan! Di masamang biro yan!” “Hindi ako nagbibiro Jane, wala na si Ramon. Naaksidente siya kanina noong kasagsagan ng lakas ng ulan nabangga yung sinasakyan niya.” Nangingilid na ang mga luha sa mata ko noon ngunit hindi pa rin ako naniwala at pinatay ko yung cellphone ng bigla akong makatanggap ng isang text sa bestfriend ni Ramon. “Jane wala na si Ramon naaksidente siya kanina bukas magpunta tayo sa kanila susunduin kita, sa ngayon magpahinga ka na alam kong pagod ka.” Hindi ako tumigil kakaiyak noong gabi na iyon chinat pa nga kita sa facebook mo tinext at tinawagan sa cellphone ngunit wala ng sumasagot. Nakatulog ako sa sobrang kakaiyak. Kinabukasan ay pumunta nga ako sa inyo at nakibalita. Ikinuwento ng iyong mama ang lahat ng nangyari habang pinagmamasdan kita sa iyong kabaong. Ayoko pa ring maniwala sa mga oras na iyon, nahimasmasan lamang ako ng ipinaliwanag ng mama mo na wala ka na ngang talaga at masaya ka na sa piling ni Lord. Hanggang sa paghatid huling hantungan mo ay naroon ako, sinambit ko ang talong salita na alam kong pilit mong hinihintay na sabihin ko “I LOVE YOU RAMON!” Sayang nga at hindi mo na narinig na sinabi ko ‘yon noong buhay ka pa ngunit alam ko na narinig mo ‘yon dahil alam ko na nariyan ka lang sa paligid nakatanaw mula sa ulap, nagbabantay. Sa aking mga minamahal na mambabasa hindi ko po hinihiling na paniwalaan ninyo ang aking kwento bagkus unawain ang nadarama ng naturang karakter sa totoong buhay. Katatapos lang nang aming ensayo sa aking sinalihang cultural group nang gabing iyon. Madali akong bumalik sa aming dormitory upang makapag-ayos ng sarili at makapaglaba ng aking mga damit. Nabatid ko na wala pala akong sabon na gagamitin kaya hinanap ko ang aking wallet at napagtanto ko na wala na palang salaping nakalakip rito. Kaya’t napag desisyunan ko na magwithdraw muna sa ATM machine malapit sa RET. Magaalas-nuwebe ng gabi noon ng ako’y pumalakad sa likod ng infirmary. Habang hawak ang aking cellphone at naglilibang upang maibsan ang pagiisa, isang imahe ng binatilyo, mapula ang mata, maitim ang balat, nakaamerikana na mistulang mukhang kastila ang tumambad sa water tank na para bang nakayukong galing sa ilalim ng gusali. May hawak siyang kut-
silyong maliit at unti unting bumibilis ang kanyang yapak patungo sa akin na tila aambangan ako ng saksak. Kumaripas ako ng takbo hanggang makarating ako sa ATM machine. Kinakabahan ako at nagmamadali kahit napansin ko na wala na siya sa paligid. Medyo nahimasmasan na ako ng oras na iyon ngunit ng akin ng aabutin ang perang inilabas ng ATM, sa aking pagkakayuko, nagulat ako na may patalim na nakasaksak sa kanang tagiliran ko ng hindi ko man lang naramdaman. Unti unting lumamig ang aking pakiramdam na para bang binuhusan ng yelo ang parting iyon ng aking katawan. Agad akong tumakbo papuntang main gate na parang baliw ngunit nabatid kong wala na ang nkasaksak na patalim sa aking tagiliran. Patakbo akong bumalik sa aming dormitory na hindi nabili ang dapat bilhin.Sa gabing iyon, hindi ako makatulog ng maayos at ipinagdarasal ko na lang ang isang kaluluwang hindi matahimik. CESC Report for 2nd Semester A perpetuation of last year’s recipient of Liderato Award for Best Educational Activity, the Mighty Kids Whiz Festival commenced last November 16 in the University Auditorium. It was participated by elementary schools from Science City of Muñoz, wherein Muñoz Central School bagged the overall championship. CEn Honors Day and Tribute to the Graduates, held last November 19 at CEn-AVR, was dedicated to the mid-year graduates of CEn. Revived last year, the council wishes it to be a tradition to honor those who have successfully finished engineering courses. On the same date, the CESC Scholarship Program which became the proceeds-beneficiary of collected fines from last semester was awarded to four students who went under screening; they received an equivalent amount of their respective tuition fees. This activity will be the official entry of CESC to Liderato Award for Most Promising Activity. The Lantern Festival and Float Parade 2013 is the largest participation activity of CESC during this semester. The council funded all entries and winning in many categories which ultimately results to the regaining of the overall champion title.
The CESC supported various activities of college-based organizations. Also, we have shared funds for CLSU’s official delegations for national and international competitions such as the PAEStigan held in University of the Philippines-Los Baños, JPICE Quiz Show in De La Salle UniversityManila and Engineering Talent Award which was held in Thailand. The council did a school check-up on chosen schools in Science City of Muñoz which aimed to rehabilitate damaged school buildings. Though did not go as planned, this activity shall be continued next year. It will be the official entry on the college to Liderato Award for Best Community Service. This February, the council purchased books amounting to over 17,000.00Php which are now available for students in our College Library. The E-week, our college’s version of University Students’ Week, was held from February 1113. Various activities were held to uplift the morale, foster camaraderie and social awareness and set a study-break for students. It started with CEnate debate, an activity in partnership with USSC and culminated in the Engineering Got Talent and CEn-Reyna.
BITS nakiisa sa E-Week 2014 Nakiisa ang Builders of Information Technology Society (BITS) sa Engineering Week 2014 noong Pebrero 10-14. Nagsagawa ang BITS ng iba’t-ibang patimpalak, seminar, at exhibit na nilahukan ng mga mag-aaral ng kolehiyo. “Bilang Information Technology students, naipakita namin ang aming kagalingan at nairelate din namin ang Engineering sa IT.”, saad ni Elanie J. Vizconde ,BITS President, hinggil sa kung ano ang naipamalas ng nasabing organisasyon kaugnay ng E -Week. Layunin ng nabanggit na grupo na mahasa ang kakayahan ng mga estudyante sa pisikal at mental na aspeto sa pamamagitan ng mga kompetisyong isinagawa at mamulat sa mga isyu sa
loob ng unibersidad at sa kapaligiran. Dagdag pa ni Vizconde kaugnay sa intensyon ng naturang asosasyon , “isinagawa ang mga activities na ito para madevelop ang skills ng mga estudyante at para maipakita na hindi lang puro academic, nag-e-excel din sila sa iba’t-ibang larangan”. Nanguna din ang BITS sa sumusunod na mga paligsahan: CEnate Debate, IC and VB Programming Competition, E-gaming Competition, Transformer Wiz, Emazing Race, On-the-Spot Photo Editing Competition, Banner Making Contest, Wag E-tapon, Photography: Intermediary between Nature and Technology, Information Technology Hands-on Seminar and Workshop at Banana-Hot BITS.
Students’ Week Celebration: SAGES-PSAE in action To participate in worthy undertakings for the betterment of the society, department of Agricultural Engineering, College of Engineering and CLSU as a whole – being the second founding objective of the Society of Agricultural Engineering Students- Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers (SAGES-PSAE), the organization was able to successfully hold five activities in the concluded Students’ Week last February 10-14. Thesis Writing and Manuscript Formatting Workshop, held last February 12, aims to familiarize Agricultural Engineering Students in technical writing and formatting. Dr. Romeo B. Gavino and the staff of the Department of Agricultural Engineering were the prime initiators of the event. It was participated by 4th, 5th and selected 3rd and 2nd year Agricultural Engineering Students. On February 13, the Course Orientation and Booth

Making were simultaneously held at the CLSU Auditorium and SAGES -PSAE park. The objective of the activity is to promote Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering to first year and interested students. It also included the presentation of job opportunities and affiliates of an agricultural engineer. During the last day, February 14, SAGES-PSAE launched the OPEN S AGES and “lovapalooza”. These activities intended to make a socialization event for Agricultural Engineering students in all year levels. As well as parlor games and team building activities, the promotion and advertisement of SAGES-PSAE being the sole organization in CLSU for Agricultural Engineering was done. “We worked hard as a team, and we are united,” Marvin Estimada, president of SAGESPSAE, to conclude the celebration of the Student’s Week.

ECC conjoined E-Week Engineering Computer Club (ECC) conducted activities in participation with the celebration of Engineering Week held on February 10-14, 2014 at College of Engineering, CLSU. ECC organized a Scaled Model Competition that was opened to 2 nd-5th year BSCE and BSAEn students. The materials needed were given on February 13, 2014 and the entries are required to submit on the following day.
Rupert John M. Brillantes and Mary Grace B. Juan of BSCE3-1 bagged the first price. The organization also launched a “Flappy Booth” as a fund raising project. The participants played the Flappy bird game and whoever has the highest score will take home the half of the fund raised. Mary Grace B. Juan of BSCE3-1 excelled in the game with a score of 65.
