PEARCE, JR. was selected in 1996 as Managing Director of Central City Opera and named General/Artistic Director in 1998. During his 25-year tenure, Mr. Pearce set forth the company’s current artistic mission of balancing traditional and progressive works. Nationally, he has served as Chairman of the Grants Review Panel for the National Endowment for the Arts, as a juror for the Rosa Ponselle International Voice Competition and Regional Met Auditions and as a Board Member for OPERA America. In May of 2013, Mr. Pearce received the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Award for the Arts and Humanities.
