Sea
The sun rises again I'm stuck in the night sky, Flooded by the storm of yesterday, Like a song played backward.
The season has changed, But my feelings didn't fade. Like the sands on the shore, Drifted by the water, Gone from the surface, But not underneath it.

I let myself be drowned From the rays of the sun Hoping for its warmth To melt my heart. Squawk. Sneer. Wince. The sound of silence makes me sick. I held my breath and chastised myself By scuttling the ship, I've been riding for years.
As I let myself float on water, I let out a mollified smile, I can rest. I can hide.
But the birds chirped above my head. I opened my eyes. The sun's shining brightly Straight into my face. My skin was burnt by the sun. Hurrying up to the ship I broke, I cut the pieces of my shirt And adorned the ship I once loathed
As I sailed through the sea, I raised my arms above me. Once wishing to be free, Now, with my ship, Beyond the sea, I can see.
