FOUNDATION ACADEMY: REACHING NEW HEIGHTS
Foundation Academy:
Reaching New Heights
A new grade level will be introduced at Foundation Academy Lakeside for the 2020-21 school year. Learn more about the student experience at this brand new campus.
When a child walks into a classroom at Foundation Academy (FA), they walk into an extension of their home. The love and dedication that the teachers and administrators have for their students shows in the high level of care and instruction provided day in and day out.
FA is a PreK3 through 12th grade private, Christ-centered college preparatory school that was founded in 1958 as a ministry of Winter Garden’s First Baptist Church. It has grown to include three campuses, including the brand new FA Lakeside campus located at Family Church (formerly First Baptist Church Windermere Lakeside).
The FA Experience
The student experience at all FA campuses is made up of four cornerstones of building a foundation for life: faith, academics, fine arts and athletics. The school is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and AdvancED. Through a Christ-centered education, which includes weekly chapel as well as music, visual arts, technology and athletic programs, students can realize their God-given potential while developing academically, spiritually, physically and socially.
What to Expect at FA Lakeside
Easily accessible from Horizon West, Hamlin and the surrounding Windermere areas, the 40-acre Lakeside campus features a large indoor auditorium, a school office, an enrichment classroom, two soccer fields, two outdoor playgrounds and a picnic area. In addition to learning valuable life skills in subjects such as math, science, social studies and more, a school garden provides a seed-to-table experience. The time spent caring for the garden and learning about the process blossoms into both a tangible product and life lessons such as responsibility and self-confidence.
Building relationships is important at FA. At this stage, students are leaving their homes for the first time. FA opens their world and space to provide families with time to adjust and grow at a manageable level. Amanda Donaho, the Lakeside campus principal, notes that the smaller class size (just one teacher for every 16 students) provides an even greater opportunity to become a family.
“This family experience helps to make the transition into Kindergarten easier for both students and parents,” she says. “When parents know their child is loved and cared for each day, it provides peace of mind.”
Additionally, the Lakeside Campus offers complimentary before-school care
beginning at 7:30 a.m. as well as several field trip opportunities through the year.
“There are so many reasons we absolutely fell in love with this school,” the Ogeerally family says. “From feeling as though this is our extended family, to growing our daughter’s joy of learning, to the sense of security and love shown in a Christ-centered environment — all of these reasons have made our decision to send our children to FA Lakeside one of the best we’ve ever made.”
Foundation Academy is more than a stop along the way in the educational process; it is an experience in learning that lasts a lifetime and beyond.
