On May 26, 2018, Annie Rodenfels (Centerville, Ohio) became the school's fourth individual national champion ever after a dramatic victory in the 3000m steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships. She came through with a time of 10:15.75 to edge Kayla Leland of Whitworth by less than a second. "The race was amazing," said Rodenfels. "I just woke up knowing that I felt strong, confident and just ready. Honestly, this race is the only thing I've thought about all year. And when it came down to it, I just knew I couldn't let someone beat me in a sprint at the end. I had more."

FIRST LOOK: DAVID J. HICKS PRACTICE CENTER Named for former Centre men's basketball great David Hicks ‘91, who passed away tragically last spring, the brand new "David J. Hicks ‘91 Practice Center" was recently completed inside Bowman Gymnasium. This project was completed thanks to the overwhelming generosity of his family, friends and Centre College teammates. A space dedicated primarily for the Centre basketball and volleyball programs, the renovated gym features a new court design with updated branding, new LED lighting, new main baskets, wall wrap murals, updated HVAC unit, physical season schedule panels and various team history sections. WILSON NAMED A SEMIFINALIST FOR THE WILLIAM V. CAMPBELL TROPHY® Senior John Wilson is a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) William V. Campbell Trophy®. The honor recognizes an individual as the "absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation." Wilson is one of 179 total semifinalists, and is one of 41 from NCAA Division III. The Brandenburg, Ky., native has a GPA of 3.98 as a Behavioral Neuroscience major, above the 3.62 average semifinalist GPA. He earned the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-District™ distinction last season and is a multiple All-SAA and Academic All-SAA selection. The class is selected each year by the NFF Awards Committee, which is comprised of a nationally recognized group of media, College Football Hall of Famers and athletics administrators.
MILESTONE SEASON Centre soccer head coaches Jay Hoffman '96 and Jeb Burch '94 both reached win No. 200 with their respective programs earlier this fall. Hoffman, who took over as the women's head coach in 2004, reached the milestone in Centre's 3-1 victory against DePauw back on Sept. 2.

He's working quickly toward the next milestone, as well, finishing the program's first-ever undefeated regular season (16-0). Centre is ranked in the top 10 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches poll, and has secured the Colonels' fourth consecutive Southern Athletic Association regular season title.
Hoffman's former teammate Burch earned win No. 200 with the men's program in Centre's massive 10-0 victory Oct. 7 at Hendrix. Already the winningest coach in Centre men's soccer history, Burch has had just one sub-.500 season since taking over in 2002. The Colonels are currently poised to make a run in the upcoming SAA Tournament.
Centre field hockey head coach Jenelle Anthony earned win No. 100 with the Colonels in a 5-0 victory at Hood Oct. 12. Since taking over the program in 2011, Anthony has led the Colonels to heights never before seen. They are coming off arguably the greatest campaign in program history, reaching the NCAA Elite Eight a season ago for the first time ever.

This year, Centre has been just as strong, already claiming the Southern Athletic Association regular season championship and top seed in the upcoming SAA Tournament with an eye on another NCAA berth.
CENTRE HOSTS SPECIAL OLYMPICS FLAG FOOTBALL More than 100 Centre student-athletes, coaches and administrators volunteered at the Danville Flag Football Regional for Kentucky and the Special Olympics, hosted at Farris Stadium on October 21st.
