FITZGERALD HONORED BY U.S. SOCCER CENTRE SOPHOMORE NAMED U.S. SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR WITH A DISABILITY

Sophomore Gracie Fitzgerald was named the 2018 U.S. Soccer Player of the Year with a Disability, it was announced in December. Fitzgerald has made a huge impact on the pitch for the Colonels in two seasons, most recently helping Centre finish 21-1 overall while reaching the NCAA "Sweet 16." Starting on the back line, she played a role in one of the best defenses in the nation, as Centre surrendered a 0.32 goals-against average. She also contributed two goals – both of which came during the Southern Athletic Association Tournament – including a magnificent headed goal in the SAA title match against Rhodes. The Georgetown, Ind., native has been a member of the U.S. Deaf Women's National Team since 2015. She scored a goal against Great Britain and went on to earn Best XI All-World Cup Team honors after America's dominant Deaf World Cup run in Italy in 2016, which culminated with a 3-0 victory over Russia in the final match. The USA's defense, anchored by Fitzgerald, conceded only two goals in its World Cup run.

WILSON, LOGSDON BECOME FOOTBALL'S FIRST ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS® SINCE 1995 Centre seniors John Wilson (left) and Ben Logsdon were each named to the prestigious Google Cloud Academic All-America® team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Each were placed on the Second Team, and are the first Centre football student-athletes since Zach Woods in 1995 to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American®. Wilson, a Behavioral Neuroscience major carrying a 3.94 GPA, is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District® pick, and was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy® this past fall. He's also a multiple All-SAA selection and was a four-year starter at cornerback for the Colonels. Logsdon was a two-time First Team All-SAA kicker, and earned a CoSIDA Academic All-District® nod for the first time in his career this past season. Logsdon holds a 3.64 GPA in Economics and Finance. He finished his career second among NCAA kickers (all divisions) in career field goal percentage (.889).

COLONELS 20TH IN DIVISION III LEARFIELD DIRECTORS’ CUP AFTER FALL SEASON Centre sits among the top 20 athletic departments out of more than 440 NCAA Division III institutions in the final Learfield Directors' Cup fall standings. The Colonels' 186.00 total points are good for 20th overall, first among all Southern Athletic Association programs and ahead of last fall's 128.00 points (which placed Centre 38th at the time). Centre women's soccer paced the fall sports with 64 points thanks to another NCAA "Sweet 16" run, and was followed by football (53 points), women's cross country (44) and men's soccer (25).

The Colonels finished 89th overall for the 2017-18 year, and are on pace for their best finish since placing 45th in 2010-11.
