HOMECOMING MAKE THE CALL
WELCOME
Homecoming 2014
You just can’t beat Kentucky in the Fall. The leaves are changing, the weather is finally comfortable, and the horses are racing! It is the perfect time to return to campus. As you plan your trip back to campus, don’t forget to make the call to your friends and urge them to come home, too! In the pages that follow, you will find a full schedule of Homecoming Weekend activities. This year promises to be a memorable one – enjoy an afternoon at Keeneland; see paintings by a talented alumna artist; spend an afternoon with a maestro; meet several alumni authors; honor distinguished alumni; cheer on the Colonels; and enjoy live music from Centre alumni in one of Louisville’s hottest party bands! When you arrive on campus, please be sure to stop by the Chenault Alumni House to check in, grab a quick bite, and pick up your 2014 Homecoming gift. I look forward to seeing you,
Megan Haake Milby ’03 Director of Alumni Affairs

featuring Mickey Thomas
Mickey Thomas is the owner of the soaring voice that propelled STARSHIP through the decades of the 80’s and 90’s. With his soulful and compelling vocals, Mickey has established himself as one of rock music’s most recognizable stars. In 1979, Mickey joined Jefferson Starship as lead vocalist, after the departure of Grace Slick and Marty Balin. Backed by the power of Mickey’s vocals, Jefferson Starship immediately scored a #1 hit with 'Jane'. With this new sound, the group was renamed STARSHIP and continued to record an amazing string of hits including 'No Way Out', 'We Built This City', 'Sara', and an Oscar Nomination for the #1 hit 'Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now' from the movie 'Mannequin'. Other top hits included 'Find Your Way Back', 'Stranger', 'Laying It On The Line', and 'It’s Not Over Till It’s Over' which became Major League Baseball’s theme in 1987. 4
