Dame Kelly Holmes Best known for her magnificent achievement of winning 2 Olympic gold medals in Athens, Dame Kelly Holmes has been competing at the highest level of athletics since 1994, when she won gold for the 1500m at the Commonwealth Games. In her career Dame Kelly has set the British record for both the 800m (1:56:21) and 1500m (3:57:90), the latter was set in her goldwinning performance in Athens. Your challenge has been set by Dame Kelly. You will try and get close to her record times. In teams or as an individual you will compete against Dame Kelly’s time.
Adam Whitehead Adam is a former European and Commonwealth champion won gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in 100m Breaststroke, achieving a time of 1:01:23. Adam is also a Commonwealth gold medallist at 200m breaststroke, where he achieved a time of 2:14:58. Adam competed at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. You will be competing against Adam’s times in teams or as an individual, trying to beat his great achievements. And remember... it must be breaststroke!
Ross Davenport Not only is Ross a London 2012 hopeful, he is also a double Commonwealth gold medallist and in 2009 achieved a personal best of 1:42:95 for 200m freestyle. Ross has been competing at the highest level for 10 years; a quite incredible achievement for one so young. Your challenge is to better Ross’ PB. Swimming in teams or as an individual, you will try and achieve a time of lower than 1:42:95.
Tyrone Swaray Tyrone is a London 2012 hopeful for the 100m and has also competed at the 60m. He has competed for Great Britain on 7 occasions and has set a personal best of 9.98 seconds for the 100m. You will be competing against Tyrone’s PB in a 100m sprint.

Sarah Winckless Recently retired Sarah Winckless enjoyed a fantastic rowing career which saw her go to both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, where she won a bronze medal in Athens. Sarah was also a member of the gold medal winning women’s quad at the World Championships in 2005 and 2006. Sarah has come out of retirement to compete one last time, and it’s against you! Sarah has set a time of 6:28:8 for the 2000km on the rowing machine. You will be using the same equipment to beat this time and can compete in teams or as an individual.
Cathy Wood Before injury forced retirement, Cathy was an Ironman Triathlon athlete. This event required Cathy to swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles before finally running 26.2 miles; an incredible feat. The highlight of Cathy’s career came when she won a silver medal at the European Championships. Cathy’s personal best came when she completed the race in 10:58:45. Don’t worry, you won’t be competing against Cathy! You’ll enter in a scaled down version of the event.
Richard Whitehead A world record holder for both the marathon and half marathon, Richard is a phenomenal human being. Despite being a double leg amputee, Richard has set a record marathon time of 2:42:52 which was done in Chicago in 2010. Richard’s record time for the half marathon came in Reading when he ran the 13.1 mile course in 1:14:59. Richard has set you a big task: running 13.1 miles in under 114..59. Work as a team to see if you can match or beat his time!
