Chaplaincy at Chelmsford Students hard at work in Croatia
Helping Others Supporting various charitable initiatives, joining an annual Chaplaincy trip to Croatia to help repair and maintain a hospital and spend some quality time with its young patients; or simply helping us on campus in trying to support others whilst at University, are all ways of coming alongside Chaplaincy and getting ‘stuck in’ to life at Anglia Ruskin University. There is also a volunteering agency offering opportunities for work in the community: contact ext. 4250.
Now We would also like to hear from you! If anything you have read here interests you, and you feel you might like to help with the work of the Chaplaincy, or would just like one of the Chaplaincy team to make contact with you once you’ve settled in, then please get in touch with us.

Welcome The Chaplaincy is here for all, irrespective of religious conviction. This leaflet will give you a general idea of the activities with which we are involved. If you need help, advice, or just a sympathetic ear at any time please get in touch with us.
The Chaplaincy Centre The Chaplaincy Centre is a great meeting place and ‘drop in’ facility. It is situated in the Rivermead Student Village on the ground floor. It has disabled access and facilities. The Centre is a place to come and relax; help yourself to tea and coffee and a light snack and to watch TV or a DVD; play the piano or other instruments. You will also find it a good place for prayer and reflection with a small library of books, a tape/CD

The work of the Chaplaincy is overseen by a Chaplaincy Council which brings together representatives of our University (including the Vice Chancellor and the Students’ Union) and representatives of the various churches. There is an opportunity for three students to be members of the Chaplaincy Council.
There is always the chance to speak with the Chaplain who is very supportive... it’s nice knowing the Chaplaincy is close by.

International Students
Worship
We warmly welcome students from all over the world. Chaplaincy works to try and ensure that the international student experience is a positive and enjoyable one. Chaplaincy can arrange hospitality for students a long way from home with local families.
Prayers are said daily on campus during semester. Venues and times are on noticeboards around campus, or contact one of our Chaplains. There are regular celebrations of Mass on Fridays at 1pm in the Chaplaincy Centre and other services during the semesters, including other faith festivals. On campus you will regularly see Chaplaincy displays and events. There is increasing shared activity with the local churches. The Christian Union meets regularly on campus during the semesters. We hold information on many places of worship; churches, mosques, synagogues and temples. If you need help in finding the right place for you, please contact us.
Chilling Out Throughout the semesters, Chaplaincy arranges events which are purely social and fun, especially in the early weeks and months of the first semester, which provide good opportunities to get to know others who have come to our University for the first time, as well as students who are ‘old hands’! These range from barbecues to Christmas parties, and other events which tie in with the social calendar, as well as offering the Chaplaincy Centre and its quiet room all day and every day for any who just want to get away for a while and enjoy five minutes peace. Full details of Chaplaincy events can be found on the Chaplaincy website. Our University has a choir - ‘The Anglia Singers’ - which is always willing to welcome new members. The choir sings a varied programme of music ranging from the sacred to the secular, and takes part in our University carol service. They also lead the Christmas carols around the tree in the Michael A. Ashcroft Building.
