Hey, guys! What’s up? Today, we will learn a lot of cool things together! We’re gonna talk and learn about biodiversity, the Atlantic Forest, agroecology and sustainable consumption, climate emergency in addition to human rights and citizenship.
Our first subject is biodiversity. But ... do you know what biodiversity is? So, that word refers to the diversity of life forms on Earth. All living beings that are part of an ecosystem - from plants and animals to microorganisms - constitute the richness of species in a given place or the entire planet.

Speaking of wealth of species, in Brazil we have the Atlantic Forest, stretching along the coastline of our country. The Atlantic Forest is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet and a major biome in Brazil. BIODIVERSITY

That’s interesting, huh, guys? And here is another great topic:
Agroecology. Have you heard of it? Agroecology is the production of food in a sustainable way. This means that producers contribute to the preservation of nature, the conservation of biodiversity and the recovery of degraded areas. It is a type of agricultural practice that uses natural resources consciously, respecting and preserving nature from planting to harvest. It is super important to be aware that agroecological foods are free of transgenics and pesticides. Our health depends on a good diet, so we have to give preference to these healthier products.

AGROECOLOGY
And... speaking of consumption, we have another really significant topic here, especially because of these times we are going through. It’s sustainable consumption! All of us, you, me, our families, our neighbors, need to look at this issue more carefully and act with more responsibility.
But what is sustainable consumption? Well, it is an attitude that involves choosing products that have used less natural resources in their production, that have ensured decent jobs to those who produced them, and that will be easily reused or recycled. It means buying what is really necessary, extending the life of the products as much as possible. We consume in a sustainable way when our purchasing choices are conscious, responsible,and we understand that they will have environmental and social consequences. Why don’t we watch this video to understand it better? Let’s have fun and learn!

The most serious consequence of this damage is the climate emergency, our next issue. A climate emergency declaration recognizes the extreme seriousness of the threat posed by global warming, involves taking measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and proposes to exert political pressure on governments to make them aware of the environmental crisis. Finally, we get to our last topic:
Human Rights and Citizenship. Did you know that the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with the aim of preventing wars, promoting world peace and strengthening humanitarian rights? Education, for example, is both a human right in itself, and an indispensable means of realizing other rights, such as the exercise of citizenship.

REPRESENTATIVES FROM VARIOUS NATIONS FROM ALL OVER THE PLANET ATTENDED THE MEETING. IN 2000, THE CHARTER WAS LAUNCHED, AND WE CAN FIND A BEAUTIFUL PROPOSITION FOR OUR LIVES IN IT. THE EARTH CHARTER INVITES EVERYONE TO MAKE AN EFFORT TO BUILD A BETTER WORLD; A JUST AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD THAT RESPECTS THE DIFFERENCES, PRESERVES NATURE AND DEFENDS THE IDEA OF PEACE. NINA GOT REALLY INTERESTED IN FINDING OTHER PEOPLE WHO FIGHT FOR THESE IDEAS.
