EARLY CHILDHOOD
The child in this age group has a nasal septum that is not yet formed and needs to wear anatomically correct, stable, soft, light and safe glasses. Active Frames offers only frames made with soft and safe materials to allow movement. It is important that the eyewear always remains stable to ensure the correct maintenance of the optical centre position even when the head rests on a pillow, for example, in the cradle. For this reason, a cord always accompanies Active Frames.
PRE-SCHOOL
The nasal septum of children begins to form and in this age group the exploration of the world and the claim of autonomy reign supreme. For this reason, Active Frames respond, in this case, to the need for stability, comfort and lightness to guarantee both the child’s dynamism and the full functionality of the corrective lens.
SCHOOL AGE
The beginning of school leads the child to a greater visual effort and an aesthetic demand projected towards the world of adults. Active Frames are therefore designed with different materials that can always guarantee comfort and lightness. The design takes into account a much more defined structure of the nose and ears.
PRE-TEENS
In this phase of life, eyewear begin to define one’s own style, a way of being, becoming a real element of self-definition. This is why the Active Frames aim here to combine the maintenance of the optical centre with aesthetic qualities that recall those of the adult. The breadth of shapes and decorations available to the adolescent becomes fundamental.

This means that the frame is safe in case a child chews it. In addition it has been dermatologically tested (it does not cause skin irritation). The groove is deeper to prevent the lens from coming out in case of accident.

Sun exposure: the importance of protecting children’s eyes.
Statistically, most exposure to the sun (75-80%) occurs before the age of 18/20. It is therefore extremely important to evaluate the effects that this solar radiation, both direct and reflected, has on the eyes of children and adolescents.
Children’s eyes are still developing and cannot filter harmful UV rays in the most effective way, which is why it is necessary to protect them with sunglasses from the first year of age. Furthermore, various studies have highlighted how continuous and prolonged exposure to UV radiation can lead to serious pathologies and a high risk of macular degeneration in old age. Protecting the eyes of children and adolescents from the direct and reflected rays of the sun is therefore very important as it protects from UV rays precisely in the period in which exposure to sun rays is greatest and natural protection is least. This is even truer today, as studies have shown that playing outdoors is essential for children to reduce childhood myopic progression, as well as ensuring the correct intake of vitamin D. If you use digital devices, such as smartphones and tablets, in the open air, the threat of reflections of the sun’s rays coming from the screens must also be considered for which it is necessary to take the necessary precautions. The advice of specialists is therefore to correctly wear glasses with protecting lenses from UVA and UVB rays that are able to absorb at least 99% of UV rays above 400 nanometres. It is also important that the sunglasses are of quality, made with safe materials, sufficiently enveloping to prevent light from penetrating from the sides, comfortable and with guaranteed quality lenses.
