These are suggested maximum viewing distances in the latest simplified draft format.

This is intended as a guide only and other factors may need to be considered. Contact our sales office for further assistance.

Current Legislation

In an effort to attain consistency of design of safety signs throughout Europe BS EN ISO 7010:2012 was adopted in the UK in 2012. The goal is that a fire exit sign in the UK would be the same design as in Germany, France or most other European Countries.

It is an ongoing process and not all images will have changed but you can be assured that all the signs in this catalogue have all been updated to the new standard where available. If a symbol has not yet been updated then the previous BS5499 standard will be used until such a time as a replacement ISO symbol becomes available.

Safety Sign Symbol Guide

Mandatory Signs

A blue circle containing a white image denoting that a specific course of action must be taken.

Prohibition Signs

A red circle with a diagonal bar on a white background. A black symbol behind this band indicates the prohibited action.

Safe Condition

A green rectangle or square with a symbol or text in white providing information about first aid, escape or other safe conditions.

Hazard Warning Signs

A yellow triangle with a black border and symbol denoting a hazard in the environment.

Fire Equipment

A red rectangle or square with a symbol or text in white providing information about the location and use of fire fighting equipment.

Scaffold must be inspected in the following conditions:

• Following initial erection

• Following exposure to any weather

• Conditions that could affect its strength or stability

• Following substantial alteration (addition or subtraction)

• At regular intervals not exceeding 7 days from previous inspection

Tower Scaffold Tagging System

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require an assessment to be undertaken before starting any work. Erection should be made to Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association (PASMA) approved methods.

The Tower Scaffold Safety Tag provides an essential platform for entering and storing essential safety information, including movements and safe weight tolerances. Designed for use with the ClawTag holder, these tags can be fixed to the scaffold after erection without needing to dismantle part of the structure.

Ladder Tagging System

The Work at Height Regulations came into force in 2005. These regulations apply to work at height where there is a risk of fall liable to cause personal injury. This applies to both internal and external work at height and includes below ground level and low height.

All ladders should be checked daily and prior to use for any damage, faults or wear and tear. In addition they should be inspected at defined intervals as part of a risk assessment programme. Use these inserts to manage the identification, safety and maintenance of ladders and to help conform to the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

The AssetTag holder should be permanently fixed to the ladder in a suitable safe place. Perform an inspection of the ladder (a checklist is printed on the reverse) and record the result on the tag. If the ladder fails the inspection remove insert and inform a Supervisor. Tag
