Your Essential Summer Cleaning Checklist

Whether you're in need of a big purge or a simple routine, this cleaning checklist will start your summer on the right foot! Before starting any of these tasks, remember to clear away the clutter. Any items that are broken, no longer in use, or you have duplicates of should be removed from your home, as it’s much easier to clean a space when there's less stuff in it.

Kitchen

- Empty and wipe-down drawers, cabinets, and pantry

- Wash backsplash, cabinet doors, and drawer fronts, including handles

- Wipe counters and shelves

- Scrub kitchen sink and shine faucets

- Polish silver and wash table linens

- Descale coffee maker and kettle

- Clean the microwave and dishwasher

- Empty the fridge and wipe the shelves, drawers and sides

- Clean under and behind the fridge + stove

- Clean the oven and stovetop

- Wipe down all small appliances and empty the toaster crumb tray

Bathroom

- Empty and clean under the sink

- Empty and wipe cabinets

- Discard expired cosmetics and medications

- Clean bathtub, shower and toilet

- Clean the shower head

- Wash/Replace shower curtain liner

- Wash bath mats

- Wash sinks, faucets, and mirrors

Living Room

- Vacuum behind and under furniture

- Vacuum furniture

- Clean and condition leather furniture

- Clean carpeted areas

- Clean electronic screens

- Disinfect remote controls, game controllers, etc

- Organize or recycle magazines

- Organize children’s toys

- Organize video games and movies

- Clean pet bed(s) and pet toys

Bedrooms

- Empty and wipe down dresser drawers

- Refold and organize clothes

- Organize and purge items from the closet

- Store out of season coats, shoes and accessories

- Flip, rotate and vacuum your mattress

- Wash all bedding (including pillows)

Laundry Room

- Clean inside the washing machine - including the soap, fabric softener dispensers

- Clean dryer vent

- Clean behind all appliances

- Organize laundry soap and other products
