My A-Ha Conference Moment By Carl Kirpes, Iowa State University My Aha moment came on my first day at the CEO conference. I was sitting at a round table in the Texas Ballroom filled with collegiate entrepreneurs, and we were all listening to Arel Moodie give the Welcome Keynote speech. His simple phrase that he contributes to his success still stands out in my mind, "I just do it." Arel then went on to explain that if you get to a point in your life where you do what is right regardless of how you feel then your life will be better than everyone else. Throughout the remainder of the conference I saw the same "I just do it" attitude displayed in all the keynote speakers and breakout sessions I attended. I have begun to apply that philosophy not only as an entrepreneur but also in other aspects of my life such as athletics, academics, and community service. I am already starting to see the positive effects of doing what I know is right even if at the time I do not feel like doing it. In the closing speech Arel said with emotion in his voice, "I am asking that you all do big things with your life just don't quit. I don't know who I am talking to, probably just one person in this room, but you can be up on this stage. You just have to make the decision to do so." I have taken those words to heart. So thanks Arel Moodie and thank you CEO. I hope to someday pay forward the positive impact you have had on my life.
