After your visit to the Ordnance Museum, head over to the Mineral County Museum. The museum displays geologic and historic items from Mineral County’s prehistoric and mining past. Memorabilia from the WWII town of Babbitt is also featured.
If nature is your thing, you’ll feel right at home in Mineral County! There are four federal and state campgrounds on the west side of the lake, just o Highway 95. Some have shaded tables with grills, ȴre pits and rest rooms. You’ll ȴnd that this area is perfect for hiking, geocaching, hunting, ȴshing, camping, BMX, Motor Cross, and rock hounding. Not an o-road enthusiast? There’s still so much to do in Mineral County! Visit the Mineral County Museum and the Ordnance Museum, both are located in Hawthorne and admission is FREE!
The Ordnance Museum displays wartime ammunition and military gear; it is one of only a few of its kind in the country. Hawthorne prides itself in calling the town “America’s Patriotic Home”.

All along Highway 95 and nearby connected roads (otherwise know as Nevada Silver Trails Territory) are Ghost Towns & Ghost Mining camps. From Aurora (about 33 miles outside of Hawthorne) to Candeleria (far southern end of Mineral County), we have plenty of Ghost Towns for you to explore!
