The Shaw Academy

Three core facts separate the Shaw Academy from all other educational providers. Firstly, we come from proven industry backgrounds and have worked in those industries successfully. Secondly, we as educators know that having all of our expertise would be futile if we did not know how to effectively convey our strategies and techniques to the new or inexperienced nutritionist, something which we have perfected. We also strive to provide concise comprehensive courses without the need for the student to attend multiple ‘levels’ with increasing price tags to reach ‘greatness’. Instead, we guarantee to provide on-going comprehensive support and assistance. Additionally, all students who attend one of our courses can attend that same course for free as often as they please ensuring they always remain sharp and up to date with our everImproving methods. This offering is quite unique and will be beneficial on an ongoing basis as the very nature of the nutrition industry is one of constant flux - those who don’t adapt are left behind. What the industry held to be true 10/20 years ago has today has been rendered virtually obsolete and gaining access to the most up-to-date, relevant information will prove invaluable to the nutritionist seeking to stay ahead. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to gain from our experience without having to go through the financial pain of personal endeavor alone. Back to Index

Appendix : Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is different about this course and other courses on the market? Let us identify the three core differentiating factors. Firstly, this course is delivered by those who have come from real-world nutrition backgrounds and have been operating successfully in the nutrition industry for many years. Secondly, we are educators – we have fine-tuned our delivery of knowledge in a manner that promotes practical application of our teachings. Thirdly, our course is internationally recognized and has been accredited at Level 4 by NCFE, an awarding body recognized by the qualification regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland. The Advanced Diploma in Nutrition from the Shaw Academy is a valuable asset for any individual looking to further their career within the field of nutrition as well as though who wish to further their learning for personal reasons. 2. I am new to nutrition - is this course for me? This course covers new concepts to that of the foundation course, so although a foundation level of nutrition is beneficial with regards to understanding the background of nutrition, it is not essential and those who are new to nutrition could partake in the course as the topics will be covered in a thorough, comprehensive manner in order to ensure it is fully understood by students. However, completing our foundation course is desirable. 3. What makes the course worth the money? This course provides you with an in depth knowledge of a range of nutrition disorders in a short time period. The quality of our instructors coupled with their teaching experience means that you will easily absorb all of this information and their constant support means that if you are struggling in any area they will be available 24/7 to help you. Unlike most online courses, the advanced nutrition course is delivered via live webinars which means it is the closest you will get to the classroom experience but from the comfort of your own home. This course will achieve what other courses achieve in longer time periods by being concise, using appropriate examples and providing you with further reading should you wish to do more. Real life case studies are provided to aid your learning and are discussed in classroom mode so that you can have a thorough understanding of how to apply your knowledge in a real life environment. We provide practical examples of how to implement knowledge as we realise this is where a lot of students fall down upon completion of a course. All lessons are recorded and available Back to Index

to view 24/7 which means that if you miss a live lesson, you do not fall behind, instead you can catch up at your own pace. 4. Are there additional costs / tuition fees for the ongoing support? For the level of support as previously set out, no there is not. 5. What happens if I am not satisfied with the techniques that I receive on the course? If you are dissatisfied with the course you can re-attend as frequently as you would like to in order to fully appreciate any concepts or information covered. Should this situation occur we ask that the client contact us immediately so that we can establish where the difficulty lies. We strive to provide the best service to each client and we will do our utmost to ensure you get the most from this experience. 6. Can I work as a nutritionist upon completion of this course? The regulations of being termed a nutritionist vary by country and would need to be investigated before calling yourself a nutritionist. Upon completion of the foundation and advanced nutrition course, students would have sufficient knowledge to work as nutrition advisors dealing with a wide range of nutritional disorders. This is a rewarding career and in the current climate of increasing obesity as well as food intolerances, the need for nutrition advisors has never been as evident. 7. What if I do not want to be a nutrition advisor, is this course for me? Absolutely! In fact many of our students undertake the advanced nutrition course as they gain such valuable knowledge at such a reasonable price. As you may or may not know nutrition affects everyone and so a lot of our students do the nutrition course as they work in the health sector and feel that gaining nutrition knowledge will further their career. Other students suffer from a nutrition disorder which they wish to treat themselves. Others are concerned about their own health or the health of their friends and family and wish to use the knowledge at a personal level. Whatever the reason, each is as important as the next. The only pre-requisite for this course would be an interest in nutrition.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further queries, we are happy to help!
