COUNCIL GROVE LIBRARY Fall 2017 Council Grove, Kansas Community Engagement

This project created a library that would act as a community center. The primary space holds the books, therefor creating hierarchy in the space. The atrium acts as the primary space and is visible, from people inside and outside of the building.

NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION PLAN Spring 2018 Argentine, Kansas Bike and Ride

Before designing a school for J.C. Harmon, our class researched the Argentine neighborhood. The research I was involved in was based around transportation and how it affected socioeconomic status.

TRAINING

Teachers need relationships with students and their families. Teaching classroom management skills. Providing engaging instructions in the classroom. Studies have shown an increase in creativity with video games. Video games can provide students with information that could not be collected in normal circumstances. Studies have shown that nonviolent video games are more beneďŹ cial.

B Open classrooms were created to allow for the common space to be turned into large lecture areas. Seating element is created to allow students to see the second floor activities and want to ear the “level up” privilege. Teachers have an area by the seating to be able to help students when they need it. The space opens up into a courtyard for students to use. The movable wall allows nature to feel like A its being brought into the classroom.

SECOND FLOOR PLAN

The second floor is where students can go once they “level up.” Leveling up would be when they have finished there class work or their technology class is there. The upper floors has two units with screens for games all round them. Allowing for two classes to use the room or have competitions between two teams. Study spaces and teacher offices are located by the areas to use as well. Outside is a garden that will be specifically based on the Learning Environment.

The seating element rises through the atrium. It can be used as a large lecture area, but also a place where students can interact between all the students in the space.

J.C. HARMON HIGH SCHOOL Spring 2018 Argentine, Kansas Gaming in the School

The gaming idea was carried from the learning spaces to the rest of the school. The gym and large courtyard are used to bring “gaming out into other parts of the school. Technology gaming is in the classroom while physical games are located across from them and outside in the courtyards.
