about us Established in 1962, Child and Family Guidance Center (CFGC) provides a comprehensive continuum of mental health, outreach and community based services to more than 10,000 children and families annually. We embrace a person-centered, family strengthening philosophy aimed at building resiliency and empowering families to overcome challenges and flourish within their community.

Our services are provided by a diverse, multidisciplinary workforce of over 400 including: psychiatrists, master’s and doctoral level therapists, teachers, case managers, and other specialists. The majority of our direct service staff are bilingual English/Spanish.

how we can help you Services are provided from CFGC offices in North Hills, Northridge, Van Nuys, and Palmdale; on the campuses of more than 50 public schools in the San Fernando and Antelope Valleys; at primary medical care sites; and in private homes.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

TREATMENT SERVICES Individual, Family, and Group Therapy Individual, family, and group therapy services utilizing a variety of evidence based practices are available to children ages 0-26 years and parents/caregivers with their own mental health needs. CalWORKS CalWORKs provides mental health services to adult CalWORKs recipients focused on removing barriers to work or school. Psychiatric Services Psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring services are offered in conjunction with therapy.

Community Family Center CFGC offers a wide variety of bilingual supportive services including parent education, health insurance and Food Stamp enrollment and mental health services. North HIlls Wellness Center (NHW) NHW is a partnership with Valley Community Healthcare, a primary health care provider. Located on the campus of Monroe High School mental health and health services are available to students and families.

SCHOOL PROGRAMS Individual and family therapy is provided on site at more than 50 public schools to children whose mental health symptoms are interfering with their academic performance. Northpoint Non-Public School Northpoint serves children age 10-22 years whose needs can not be met in a traditional classroom setting.

Case Management Intensive in-home case management services are available to assist with locating, accessing, and effectively utilizing essential community health and social services. Parenting Programs A variety of evidence based parenting programs are offered for parents/caregivers of children and teens. Trauma Services Evidence based approaches are employed to assess and address a variety of mental health traumas including childhood physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and domestic and community violence.

EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES We provide office and in-home mental health treatment to infants and young children up to age 5 focused on strengthening the parent-child relationship and fostering healthy emotional development. INTENSIVE SERVICES Intensive services are designed to address the needs of a family when their child is experiencing significant emotional and behavioral problems. It includes 24/7 crisis availability, home based services, linkage to community social services, school advocacy and mental health services for all family members. Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) Full Service Partnership (FSP) Wraparound

TRAINING PROGRAM For more than 50 years, CFGC has trained undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students for careers working with children and families in community settings.
